Was thinking this was some old dumb anti gun ad, then it had a good point in the end, one which I support. One which much of the media is failing to understand still to this day. If you have a firearm, get a damn lock for the thing. Whether it's a trigger lock or a locked safe for it. Lock 'em up and you won't have accidents like that happening.
There are safes designed to sit on your night stand, and with the press of a few quick buttons your armed. There really is no excuse. There is even a bad ass wall mounted shotgun holder, same thing press a couple buttons and the shotgun is yours.
No, you don't "lock up" your weapons. WTF good does a gun (intended for home defense) do if it is locked away? Guns are not evil. Stupid parents are. EDUCATE your children. Keep them informed. Make sure they know what can happen when they mishandle a firearm. Take the mystery away, and replace it with knowledge. My dad bought me a .22 rifle when I was 3 days old. I shot my FIRST handgun (.357 mag) when I was 6 years old. The kids in this PSA were more than ld enough to understand.
@mistercrazydudeful If you actually teach kids about them and what there used for there won't be a problem. Its idiot parents like you that make it a mystery to kids that want to play with guns. Its the same idea as drinking in Germany there is no laws about alcohol yet they have very very few binge drinking and drinking deaths.
That was okay.. I mean it is true, Keep it locked. OR Lock your room, and put the gun in a locked drawer unloaded. LOL Then before you sleep, unlock it. Thats what I would do
Instant solution: Teach your kids not to be idiots with guns. Actually carry your gun (in a holster). If required, conceal it. If not carrying, lock it in the safe. At night, your weapon goes on the nightstand.
statistically speaking about the same number of kids die this way every year as people who die from being struck by lightning every year according to the center for disease control.
Can you get me a link to that? I must use it to enforce my Pro-Gun ideals! Don't forget that cars are evil too! Those things apparently kill thousands every year, just short of drunk and unskilled drivers! Sadly, I shall not go on with my anti-gun control rant here. This is not an anti-gun ad, this is just saying lock you gun in an underground safe in the mantle of the earth where it won't help you instead of telling your kids that playing with real guns is retarded behavior.
exactly-most gun deaths are A: a fucktard who buy a cheap gun with no training, then 10 years later when he hears a noise he shoots his wife on accident , B: a retard who thinks a gun is unloaded and shoots his friend, or C: and idiot who is cleaning and shoots himself. Frankly i'm glad becuase it raises the national IQ.
This is actually better than the Brady "don't have a gun, your kid will always figure out how to unlock the safe and he will always kill himself or a friend" ads from years back.
Yes, lock up your guns. But don't give me the "unloaded with ammo locked up separate" crap. That makes the gun useless for defending your home.
Teach kids gun safety and secure your weapons in a tactically accessible gun safe that lets you respond quickly in an emergency.
That's how they push their agenda, in incrimates. First they say you have to lock up ammo in a separate container, then they say it would do you no good in case of a burgarly so you should not have guns for self-defense, after some time all guns are gone (except for the one's owned by criminal's) and, ironically, most of the Brady people are out of a hobby/ job since there are no more guns that they can ban.
They'll pick up a new hobby - patting themselves on the back. And when gun crimes actually increase in our disarmed society, they'll blame law abiding gun owners for selfishly fighting them for so many years, thus allowing criminals to get all those guns they refuse to give up.
Shut up and be a good little victim. That's how to earn the approval of the anti-gunners.
Give the kid a bb gun and say that can be your gun son and explain that he is never to touch daddys gun unless dads there. Keep it locked up, but teach him with his own BB gun and show him the real one once he is ready, take him to the range to learn more. That is what a responsible gun owner would do.
This Is why If You have guns you should teach your kids early about guns and gun safety. I Know I'll probably get comments from people who dont understand what I'm saying. basicly If You have kids and Have guns,You should take the time to explain gun safety and the danger of guns. These accidents happen because the parents choose not to teach their kids gun safety. The Younger the better. dont get me wrong you should have a lock on your gun when you have a kid but still.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
think about it kids choose not too listen u say thats dangerous dont touch it theyll want to find it and use it a lot more thats whyu hide it and make sure its in a safe so they dont do what they would do or dont load it a kid cant be smart enough to load a gun (no offence)
Ummm...no. If you actually take the time to explain to them proper handling and safety they won't dare touch the gun even if you leave it out in the open (not saying it's ok to leave guns laying around)
If you hide the gun and they find it and the bullets...then what? they don't know what it is..for all they know it's a really cool toy.
and lets say they go over a friends house and their parents don't lock up their guns..what then?. teaching them is the only real way
If your kids are dumb enough not to learn when you teach them or to respect guns when you explain it then perhaps it's just darwinian law? Besides, who the hell keeps a gun loaded when it's not on them? Teach your kids, education is the key, if you can't do that, then you have no right to be breeding in the first place.
@FabioCrow07770 Exactly correct. I take my boy's to the range all the time. My 5 and 10 year old can tell you anything about a gun. Allowing your children to be around a gun with your supervision takes away the curiosity they have for guns. You keep it hidden, and that child will look for it and thats when accidents happen.
Not everyone who is anti-gun is anti-NRA. This belief is akin to the likes of "They don't like what we like, so they don't like us." It's not always like that.
I'm in a strange position on the issue... I believe that guns could and should be controlled, but in a reasonable way that dosn't impeed people from the right to own guns provided they're not offenders of the law. I don't believe that one should need a gun to defend themselves at all times, but I will be purchasing one for that reason.
Interestingly, the NRA also believes in sensible gun laws. Nobody wants guns in the hands of criminals and ultimately it's all about keeping laws away from the 95% of gun-owners who are safe, law-abiding citizens. Funny how NRA is cast as "gun-nuts".
unfortunately, more kids die from drowning in buckets every year according to the cdc, or the cspc; i forget which. not that accidental shooting is not tragic, because it is, and no one should be stupid enough to endanger their children in any preventable way. but it's not the epidemic people think it is. it also helps to teach them about guns, just like teaching them to swim. at certain ages, children just won't understand certain things.
do u know how many ppl i teach that cant even load a gun yet the kid did it just fine

stop
don't touch
leave the area
tell an adult
NRA made these rules when they created kids gun safety program eddie eagle but of course anti-gun nuts are anti-NRA

if the kids are really young you can't just tell them not to touch it. you have to lock it up.

It's crazy, though, because gun laws really can't do much. It's easy to obtain a firearm illegally if you want one, so... Who are the laws for?
That is the REAL issue.
