  • Lets see him use the proper swing to spear movement recovering with a quarter staff pomel strike to open for another swing

  • *unts unts unts unt*

Yeah baby, you like when I stick my sword in you don't ya?

  • Nice sword... i've finished to forge a similar one a few days ago, it's well balanced but this one seems to cut a little better than mine. I think i'll try to improve the stabbing the next one i'll make. Congratulations for the nice work

  • this is the best job in the world!

  • lol the last look on his face he was so proud that he stabed that thing 30 times

  • talking about the meat

  • WOW either that sword is crappy or he just sucks at swinging. A katana would slice right through that, hell even the killij a 1 handed weapon would go through that in one swing.

  • @TheBloodyBlackJackal this caused me to lol uncontrollably, Pics or it didn't happen.

  • @MultiFireballz um actually it was on deadliest warrior (yes crap show I know) but it was a real test with the killij and it cut right through a full suspended pig.

  • @MultiFireballz Yea I realized after the fact that this wasn't a pig it was a cow =P

  • @MultiFireballz Allthough I still think this sword is more or less useless, why not just a poleaxe? Better slicing power, better range, better stabbing.

  • @TheBloodyBlackJackal I believe that if you managed to say, swing this sword at a poleaxes wooden handle you would snap it. After all this type of sword was made to combat pikemen easier so, meh.

honestly though it all comes down to the person behind the sword and where the person is cutting. Don't forget he is going through the ribs...all of them.

  • @MultiFireballz Thats incording to some who speculate its usefullness, others believe it was simple decoration. Its not going to break the handle, it would have to be a pretty perfect shot (which chances are will be on an angle). If you look at the sword the overall design is not for swinging, if it were for swinging it would be curved. You can also tell its not for swinging because of weight; a powerfull swing is actually not a matter of weight but rather the distribution.

  • @MultiFireballz It looks like a typical sword with a small wavered end, so there isn't any weight at the end for a powerfull striking. The weight is probably equivelent, or even increasing as the blade goes down to the base, and at the handle there is all sorts of handle gaurds (shit the name alludes me), as well as a weighted pumme. This is a major counter weight, which heavily decreases the swing power, its not a swinging sword. If it were a used weapon I believe it would be meant to be used

  • @MultiFireballz as more of a spear with slicing capabilities, that way if they get passed the point you can still use the blade and handle area as a weapon. And if fighting an armored opponent you can flip the sword over (half swording) and use the pummel as a mace.

  • @TheBloodyBlackJackal I am glad i was talking to someone who knows his stuff.

  • bad ass weapon.

  • gotta love fat nerds with goatees

  • @7r3v0r Especially when they're carrying the German version of a claymore.

  • wasnt this on tosh.o

  • alot of people take zweihanders to be much heavier then it truly is. believe it or not, actual zweihanders were bigger and heavier then this sword in the video. im 14 and use the cold steel great sword with ease so there is no excuse for anyone else.

  • @neothedarc yea i always run into these dumbasses trying to say that they weighed 30-40 lbs when one of the heaviest ever recorded was 15 lbs and that they averaged 4 to 8 lbs

  • eat your heart out cloud

  • I would love to wield that sword...

  • oh thank god i watched this video, i was just about to go into battle in my suite of armour made from my car hood,

  • I bet that sword could cut through all the ribs of beef in one strike if you had a big guy like me handle it.

  • my d&d character bought this lol.

  • I totally had this DVD lying around somewhere. I will always remember it as "the DVD where overweight men stabbed improbable things with swords."

  • This guy has a great power stance after he cuts the meat. Bravo.

  • is it just me or does this sound like porn music in the background?

  • @jackball25 Thats cause it is porn, just some really freaky assed porn...

  • @jackball25 appropriate, considering the sword.

  • FYI, the Zweihander was made to counter heavier armor or long-reach combat weapons. The weapon has a specific purpose. Mauls were used back then. Even though they are slow and easy to dodge, they were still used. Why? Well, a longsword might have been good for killing a person, but it's difficult to penetrate heavy armor with only an edge (especially when sometimes, they are 2-3 inches thick). A maul could SMASH and do blunt damage past the armor. Think the Zweihander as a maul+longsword in one.

  • It is an Excellent Weapon for Occupational Terrorists, Psychiatrists and Nurses and Mental State Bullies and Managers of Enemalta so they can Butcher Mental Engineers or accept Boarded Out and Sacking. Arma tal-Biccier!

  • that's one way to hack inside your neighbor's house or defend your lawn

  • IT IS MEANT TO CLEAVE PEOPLE IN TWO!!!

  • i want it 0.0lol

  • hehe, I'll take a nodachi over that overbearing piece of metal anyday. you can tell they're trying WAY too hard...

  • I'm not doubting the sword but does anyone actually have this? Cold Steel products have never appeared all that High quality to me. Could someone support or deny this for me?

  • @SonOfNyx09 The thing about cold steel, is that it isn't made for heavy-duty usage... at least not in a medieval, armour-piercing, bone-cutting sense. why? Cold steel is pretty much punch off out of a plaque of steel, it leaves a lot of stress-points.. forging would actually be somewhat better for that... but, you could pay 200 for a forged knife, or 50 for a cold press knife.

  • the guy of the beggining its powerfull

  • ..all this proves is that fat people and middle aged men can cut dead stuff, car parts, and cardboard with it. where are the people who actually are fit? why is everyone i see using this stuff either middle aged or fat...or has a mullet?

  • I like this better than a Katana

  • hahahahahahaha

  • i thought the art of practicing on meat was forbidden and only tatami mats are allowed now days...

  • @diehard17 probably not a worldwide law.

  • Souls.....souls come on to me !

  • @CloudRiviera Nightmare only says souls once. im sorry that would have been funny if that didn't bother me D:

  • I WANT ONE!!

  • oh god. i pray that ur enemies are not made of paper or carboard or there F***ked

  • a great sword is very multi funtional sword.

it could slice and dice but it could also be used as an polarm against incomming horse riders

  • @dethonius but can it blend?

  • that fat dude has some serious grudge against food. probably because it made him fat.lol

  • i think zweihander is too big for people nowdays, just take a look at that sword size. it's so freakin huge!

  • @khazmiran While obviously longer and heavier than what most people would consider comfortable, a good zweihander is by no means unwieldy. Assuming it's balanced properly, and that you know how to use it, it is deceptively fast and not much more difficult to swing than any other two-handed sword.

  • That is a beautiful thing - THANK YOU!

  • This is going right next to my F2000 when the undead walk the earth.

  • This is a longsword-pike fusion weapon. It is primarily designed to break wooden pike shafts. This was it's #1 duty in the German mercenary foreces.

It also had a secondary job as a polearm itself by dismounting a horsemounted knight and then punching through his armor.

Not sure how well it worked at the second job, but it was fuckin' GREAT at scaring the shit out of the Swiss pikemen.

  • 1:24

I was waiting for it to spin and spray bullets everywhere

  • where do i find this kind of weapons?

  • how much can one cost???

i want one can any one please help?

  • hhmmm

im gonna be a butcher so i can use this =D

  • Eh... the Zweihander could have been longer.

  • good for counter the charges of the horses i mean... and it can be used to fight in close combat... (and more resistant that a short spear...) i like that weapon

  • That's a fucking huge piece of sharpened metal

  • Túl rövid! legalább 180 centinek kéne lennie! (számomra) / It's too short! It must be at least 6 feet long! (for me)

  • it's made to chop arms of men in plate armor!

  • Realistic greatswords. Are so badass.

  • Siegfried Stauffen of the Soul Series of weapon-based fighting games (designed by Bandai Namco) would have to be both strong and reasonably quick (he's quite slow compared to his evil counterpart, Nightmare) in order to fight in the hands of a pro.

  • strong wrists

  • i want one!!

  • Let just say, I wouldn't want to be the guy who would be against this blade :O

  • isn't a zweihander suppose to be at least 6 ft. long?

  • Fat ass. All these ARMA white guys are always fat.

  • @Antiks72

    these guys are not ARMA...

  • @leavemealone2006 Still fat though.

  • I want one!

  • Something post people don't know:

Zweihanders are huge, powerful swords, but a true zweihander only weighs about 6 lbs. Amazing.

  • @TylerWinslow72493

A 6 pound sword is about as heavy as they get. Have you tried swinging six pounds about a hundred times?

  • @yellowpaperninja

I'm not saying it'd be easy, but it's interesting that they weigh so little.

  • These blades seems kinda for brute strength... I thought the Japanese blades seem to do a much better job when it comes to slicing rather than hacking away at something.

  • Japanese o-dachi weights about the same. Zweihander is actually quite agile if used properly - it's more a spear than a sword. Anyway, the purpose of these weapon was not personal combat, mostly anyway, but breaking pike formations. That's why it's so massive - to be able to cut off pike heads.

European swords are not about "brute strength" alone as well as Japanese swords are not about finesse only.

  • exelent video, i love this sword....

  • This thing is huge!!!!!! LOL!! im over 200lbs and fairly muscular because i weightlift and run alot and i dont think i could use that big of a blade.

  • i thought that fat guy in the beginning was going to throw his back out swinging that massive sword with his arms and not his body but then he was holding it with one hand, light blade for jackie chan movies? lol

  • It's not that heavy. You can swing your empty hand and fall down if you don't have a posture.

  • Gorgeous sword...

  • 5 kilogram sword promoted in a vid which only shows the incompetence of the wielder. The whole design seems so massive and clumsy. This video is a perfect example for what happens when the smith doesnt know how to wield a weapon and which features it needs.

Real swords have to be light and well-balanced to make quick attacks and defences.

    I recommend Lutel and Albion.

  • Your trolling technique needs a bit of work.

  • You're a dumb fuckwit.

  • This sword weights around 3 kg, which is acceptable for a doppelhander. It requires quite a lot of skill to wield, no wonder why doppelsoldners were getting the double pay and had a rank of "Long sword masters".

  • It is a modern myth that Doppelsöldner are especially trained swordsmen. The term "Doppelsöldner" refers to experienced men who had the best armour and fought in the first ranks. Wielding a sword was not a necessary condiition but an option.

Every weapon needs skill and training. 3kg are okay for such a sword but Cold Steel states on their website that it is much more.

It doesnt matter how strong u are, 5kg of swinging metal are too much for any person.

  • @MrHenryMason You're wrong. As soon as it was made widely available, every Doppelsoldner was made to carry a Zweihander for the simple reason that their job was to break up the front line of the enemy formation, which was almost always pikes.

A rank of shieldbearing Landskecht would be badly outranged by a rank of pikes and an opposing rank of pikemen would lead to what was called "push of pike" where both ranks became entanged in a pushing match until one rank literally fell over and broke.

  • Amen!...

  • what kind or armour would the guys wielding theese things wear? and it wouldve been nice to see the pommel in action

  • The Landsknechts seem to have worn little if any armour. Thoug I've seen some pictures showing fully armoured men using these swords.

  • Just to confirm what I just wrote: in the German Landskecht mercenaries, only a soldier who was strong enough to wield the Zweihander and brave enough to fight the pikemen in the very front lines would get to be a Doppelsoldner, literally meaning "double soldier", who would get double pay.

The regular Landskechts used pikes or one-handed longswords and shields.

  • Using a Zweihander (or any heavy two-handed type sword) effectively requires massive upper body strength and a lot of training.

Plus, you have to remember that it was a specific design for a specific purpose, i.e- disarming the vaunted Swiss pikeman. A pikeman vs. a regular long swordman means the pikeman always wins. This was designed to be heavy enough to break the pike shaft and also with a ricasso (a front grip) so you could shrug up and pierce plate armor, like heavy cavalry wore.

  • Actually Im a zweihander fencer myself along with many other types of blades and a traditional heavy duty Zweihander should weigh no more than 7Ibs If made well it should actually be closer to 5Ibs varying upon specific blade thicknesses and design flaws, and one of the key characteristics of a zweihander is that it doesn't require much upper body strength, of course you will get built frequently using one, rather that the sword play relies on consecutive strikes and frequent usage of the

  • entire sword and not just the blade, hence the odd look of the design. The blade is made in order to carry it's self after the first strike and isn't very heavy given it's size, nor does it require a massive amount of strength to use.

  • @lunarcrest13 You speak like a man who knows what he's talking about. I'll defer to your practical experience, since I've never wielded a Zweihander in simulated combat.

I'd still argue that it is primarily an anti-pikeman weapon, considering the period it was invented in and the primary enemy of the Landskechts, which was (of course) the Swiss Pikemen, who owned everybody else.

  • T-1000 at the end

  • where can u buy this blade?

  • @kennethoes Replica Dungeon

Home-Swords and Weapons-Cold steel swords-Two handed great sword

  • Zweihander power!

  • doubt that its as heavy as a zwei was back then

  • Why? Modern high-carbon steel isn't better than Renaissance steel, we can produce it much faster, but even back in those times furnaces were already highly developed, European metallurgists were great.

There were ceremonial swords that'd weight like 15 pounds, but those were just that, ceremonial, not battle swords.

  • No, they were used in battle, those that were was not 15 lbs, but 4 lbs xx oz. to 5 lbs 0 oz

  • so much u could do with a Zweihander

  • self-defense :D

  • Cold Steel

  • It's not meant for dueling in kimonos.

  • never said it was, just stating its not my style to fight with a sword that big. to me its a clumsy weapon for some one my size. still a nice weapon just not for me

  • Yes, I got what you said. This blade isn't meant to be quick, those who used it might've not preferred it for personal combat, it's a weapon to counter pikemen and cavalry, lighter, shorter weapons would fail in this case. It's a very specific weapon for specific situations.

  • @Ranziel1 that may be true but the greatsword is scottish abd scottish people just like big stuff

  • @godman5 Warriors are practical people. Which is understandable, since they were on the battlefield, getting their hands hacked off, so they would think twice of what arms and armor to use. Nobody would fight with a too large, unwieldy weapon just because he "likes big stuff". Greatsword is a vague term, the sword here is a bidenhander (doppelhander, zweihander etc.) and it's German, in fact, that was used to counter Swiss pike formations that ruled the battlefield during those days.

  • @godman5 not this model you think of the Claymore that is scottish this is a german zwei-händer that means two handed and it was mostly used of the landsknechts to destroy the enemys pikes or defend the pikes so this is a german Greatsword that are like 1,69m and the claymore was about 1,40m and the zweihänders weight is about 4,5kg and the claymore is 2,5 kg just that you know :)

  • @lakotadak I'm actually under the impression this type of greatsword was popular shortly before the Landsknechts haydays. This would probably have been put into use at the end of the Teutonic crusades, without the pommel rings. The Prussians really liked using spearmen, so rather than wasting knights on hordes of pagan spears, just send a few elite zweihander units in to butcher them. It was too little too late for the Germans though.

  • @Ranziel1 but can it be multi tasker weapon?

  • @kaindrg It can. A stone can be as well, it's how you use it, but it was meant for specific sutiations, not as a universal sidearm.

  • @Ranziel1 ahhh i see. is it usually associated wiht just the german soldiers or was it universal.

  • @Ranziel1 Just one thing - one hit, one kill. But for me it weights too much, bastard is more universal.

  • @Ranziel1

    Specific, like, airplane cleaving.

  • @Ranziel1 However, the weight(rarely more than 2-3 kilos) and handling of these are commonly over-/underestimated. If it's well balanced, it's quick. A talented euro-ma-reconstructor(by no means a hulk person) can execute advanced 1 1/2 - handed sword -techniques with it.

  • @Ranziel1

this blade might be a bit more versatile than some may think. Inbetween its length, its comparitively low weight, and ablility to be used as a polearm, i could see this as a good all around weapon (Outdoors of course, or in large rooms)/

  • @Ranziel1 Not really... Dueling with a great sword is pretty much the same for a longsword, albeit modified becaues of the length and weight.

  • @Ranziel1

Polearms > Short Swords > Greatswords > Polearms

    It's a circle basically.

  • @TheSkunkCat aion much?

  • @TheSkunkCat

    that is WAY too simplified.

  • @Ranziel1 i remember i made a sword like it but i didnt no wat a zweihander was so i was ticked when i found out they were real but i trained with that sword and got faster with it like i mean very fast for a zweihander

  • Comment removed

  • I got to hold one of these at our local Renaissance Festival. It was actually very light; roughly 6lbs, the dealer said.

  • Extremely brutal, altought I think it is very heavy for attack combinations

  • nah it aint that heavy.. but you still use swords own weight to slashing or thrusting for maximum momentum and damage

  • nice documentary but i missed the origin and history that his weapon carries, the german Landsknechts were the first to use it, why putting that out?

  • That's an ad, not a documentary. Customers don't like to listen to strange foreign swords.

  • this is a commercial? i thought it was a video about facts from the weapon not a commercial but now i see what's written in the description :P

he does tell some history about the sabre though.

  • I have the instructional videos on saber and cutlass from thompson and delongis and he goes on about how the saber is his favorite weapon thats why he spent more time on it.

  • massive and impressive

  • I'd love to see a German style great sword tested on Deadliest Warrior - theyve already had the Claymore which was awesome in its own right, but even that glorious blade is dwarfed by this mighty beast!

  • Pure sex

  • He actually missed the center of percussion with it the first time around and didn't put a step into it. I'm sure he knows what he's doing, but it looks like he forgot that he's not wielding a Japanese-style weapon from watching his wrists and forearms. If he took a step into it and cut with the percussion spot the first time, he would've cleaved those ribs completely in half.

  • This guy is a knife fighter, but the sword work is another story. When he cut the tatami mat he nearly fell, look at his stumble. The other guy, the big one with a beard, isn't perfect too, but he is at least well grounded, he should've taken the doppelhander and cut those ribs.

  • That would have fucked someones day up.

  • Good, good, very good...

  • You know that big son of a bitch ate those ribs later.

  • Whoa coolXD

  • If any blade would have the right to be jacked off to, it would be the zweihander, hands down (in your pants)!

  • lol

  • Fuckin hell he sticks the sword right through that car hood!

  • woo my katana vid got featured watch it plz!!

  • Though probably wrong i dont think that was long enough to be a zweihander, arnt they meant to be longer but by all means i assume thier sizes differ.

  • you are right, traditionally the zweihander was around 72 inches or longer. The zweihander is the polearm of swords

  • Traditionally the length of the Bidenhänder varied, 72 inches would of been on the longer side of things with some reportedly as short as 56 inches.

  • thats just fun to say in a over-dramatized voice, behold my blade, ZWEIHANDEERRR!!!!!

  • German is just an excellent language to scream in. Don't ease up on the maniacal laughter.

  • German is just an excellent language to scream in.

  • Shit, that sword is for fucking days up

  • awesome! im so getting 1 of these wen im older... lol

  • Not doppelhanders, like this one, they were heavier that typical swords. You're talking about longswords.

  • It weights 6.85 pounds.

  • That is a bit Heavy... Historical ones for war were about 3.5 to 4.11 lbs

  • where did you get that? great swords weigh more then claymores i think... tell me if im wrong though

  • Hummm Got to look for them. I think I got most of it from the ARMA site were a man named John Clements did a hands on research as well as talking to experts over were he went. If remember right there were a few Zweihanders that were 61.6 in long and were about 3 ½ lbs. Some were 71 in long and were 5 ½ lbs some thing like that Some were in that range.

  • I think Great swords are a deferent. They are like the long of Long swords or some thing, some were between a Clay more and a long sword. Perhaps with a wider blade then a long sword as well.

Over all yes, Zweihanders weigh more then Claymores I think most Claymores are about 4 to 4 ½ lbs Most Zweihanders are 4 2/3 lbs to 5 2/3 lbs. BUT there are some Zweihanders and Claymores that are 3 ½ lbs and/or 3 2/3 lbs.

  • AND ONE LAST THENG (sorry for me typing so much)

I am talking about Historical Zweihanders used for war and combat!

Not the ceremonial ones or the modern replicas. Most battle ready modern replicas of any sword are a bit heaver then Historical ones, and the ceremonial Zweihanders are heaver as well

  • How heavy is that sword?

  • The german sword Zweihänder is against heavy armor well, but not against light armor, because it is too heavy and slow.

    Zweihänder = Two-hands

  • Comment removed

  • No, it is not that slow. You can still fight some one with a sword using a Zweihänder. In fact the length makes it a good advantage. My friend has a Zweihänder waster...

  • thats awsome, iv'e been looking into buying one, but i cant seem to muster the money

  • But in the hands of experienced warrior, its good against light armor too.

  • Oh my fucking god!

  • im in love <3

  • zweihänder is translated to zweihander?

and the way that guy looks to the camera at 2:14 is priceless omfg
