  • This is probably my favorite music tutorial. He keeps it simple enough that anyone with any music background could understand. I highly recommend this channel for any digital musician!

  • fl studio hase a scale tool where it shows all the scales and it makes chords for you

  • Wow thanks alot man, piano roll has definitely been a difficulty I wish I had seen this tutorial sooner! Thanks alot man I'm gonna watch your other tutorials regarding chords now then eventually other topics too :)

  • excellent explaination

  • brilliant tutorial. alot better explained than my music theory tutor! :)

  • Boom! "Mediiiic!" "What?!" "Im too stuffed with theoretical musical knowledge..." "Oh comooon...." No seriously... school lessons are a joke against this. The only thing my music teacher was good at was making me laugh, because he looked like a rapist / murderer when he was singing in his Bass-mode xD.

thanks warbeats for providing such a great general tutorial - just the thing I needed to get into that matter.

  • I needed this.

Ima give a try at progressive house.

    Thanks.!

  • Thank you I love you. :)

  • Thanks for the video. It was clear and useful.

  • Thanks!!!

  • Excellent video.I already have an idea about chords but for ppl who want a basic understanding this is the place to be. 23 ppl must know a better way of explaning chords so maybe they could post a video.

  • My appetite is going alright.... you just feed me with knowledge !

  • ok, hoqw about when you're using the other scales, eg Egyptian??

  • I have a question sort of off the subject. In this demonstration, how were you playing those keys simultaneously like that? I'm using my mouse, so I know that's not it, but I have been trying to figure this one out!

  • @odark1 He's using a midi keyboard, you can use your computer keyboard however.

  • @odark1 midi keyboard

  • I have a question sort of off the subject. In this demonstration, how were you playing those keys simultaneously like that? I'm using my mouse, so I know that's not it, but I have been trying to figure this one out!

  • thank you so much! your tutorials are really helpfull! not just a video where a freak makes a melody:D ty again!

  • just subscribe to gain more knowledge hehe :)

  • I love these videos. I'm a rapper who's trying to gain more production knowledge and even start doing some work myself so I don't have to depend on other people to help me get my work done all of the time. Whenever I get stumped trying to learn stuff by myself, I can confidently come to your page and find something relevant. Thank you.

  • @KenteHipHop same here man, hahaha, i'm getting knowlegde so i can rap on my own beats :P

  • You are better than my highschool music teacher ;D Thank you so much for the tutorial. You are a legend!

  • Thanks dude you are my hero

  • nice vid NFX !!! i ve learnt so much from your vids man !!!

  • @DaffyChuckBeatz what a douchebag !!!

  • @DaffyChuckBeatz why are u watching tuts if ur a "producer" daffychuck..beatz??

comments to urself dabbler ass mutafucker

  • @DaffyChuckBeatz word daffy but once you gain some knowledge youll realize sometimes its better slower and longer. clearly you have more knowledge as do i about chords, why are you even critiquing this video though? its like calling children in 1st grade retarded. thats what you look like... a 5th grader talking shit to kids. so feel tough or smart or whatever and go make your 3 min tutorials. the best ones ive seen havent been shorter than 8 and im busy making dubstep... this is where its at yo

  • I wanted to know if it's possible to set single keys to play chords on FL9, and if so how? I'm sure there's a proper name for it but that's the best description i have. If you can help, i'd appreciate it, if not, no worries.

    Thank You

  • @jux55 its called cheating

  • @lifeatlast26

the thing is i know i can't play chords on beat in real time so i'd rather preset my chords. I KNOW MY CHORDS...playing it on beat is the issue. I'm NOT trying to be Stevie Wonder or play live.

BTW Some people would consider digital music making cheating.

    MAKE MUSIC. LIVE LIFE.

    thanks anyways Debbie Downer.

  • @jux55 who care's whether you know your fuckin chords man? i have no clue about my chords and still make better music than half you wannabe producers who took piano lessons and think it matters, all you need to know is what doesn't sound bad while played together and the label for it. pretty epic concept... there arent a million in one octave. just get a midi keyboard... for fuck's sake, you gotta spend money to make money

  • @lifeatlast26 Music theory is deeper then playing a piano or any instrument, your ignorant response just proves How little you know about music,You can create music with out knowing theory that's Great but expand your knowledge and you would know its deeper then playing a chord....would love to hear your music

  • @getmajor word, that was the 18 year old bum me, now im 19... seen a little more... regardless, music theory only gives you templates for creating music but never the inspiration or soul aka talent necessary in something i consider "good". check out my channel. i go by gabes beats and gaks, its all very rough and not mastered. i only wish i had the instruments i can hear playing in my head. the struggle to get those same instruments and sounds is tough, any producer using a DAW knows......

  • Comment removed

  • @lifeatlast26 im glad you are persevering to soak in as much music knowledge ,and i agree some people are born with music and some are not. But any one could progress with the time and patience...alot of people have A Soul and ear for music but they can not put what they hear in there head in a actual composition,Thats where music theory n composition comes in to play and to find the right sounds synthesis and engineering ,yet Many factors in engineering relate the music theory,Tones being one

  • im not a debbie downer good luck with your future endeavors really bro but if you cant keep the beat in real time you need to go back to 5th grade music class or if you didnt have one, turn on a drum loop and play finger drums to beats for hours every day or just play to your fav songs. get in the groove. thats what you're missin

  • ur the attenborough of music making

  • i really want a vannila milkshake

  • i really want a vannila milkshake

  • I have learned a lot from NFXBeats and one worth living in BRAZIL where the Interros and the opportunities are few and an example of not knowing much English but I have faith already learned a lot but I still wanted Belo Personal work we are all capable

  • BIG THANKS YOU GUYS ARE WHAT THE INTERNET SHOULD BE ABOUT

  • Great ...............

  • This is so helpful, thanks a million

  • A melodic minor scale is actually not all white notes. When ascending it goes F# and G#. It is only all white notes when descending.

  • how did you make the chord in the arpeggiator video with out selecting it from the chord menu

  • this video bores me so much....does that mean im not suited to making music? and yes this is a serious question

  • @lilbeatch not necessarily. If ure interested in music and want to make music and find this tutorial boring you might try other tutorials or just force yourself to follow it and learn the material. Sometimes like every other music making being, especially when working a lot with DAW's, i find myself not really wanting to study it or work on a track but i kinda see it like a side job i just have to do.

  • @grunntalll good good! thanks =D

  • @lilbeatch I have studied music and music theory for 30 years. To answer your question, no you don't need to know anything about it to be a good musician. There are MANY talented musicians, who cannot read a lick of music and don't know a CMaj from a Cmin chord, thier ears "tells" them what sounds right when playing. To be honest though, you are closing a lot of doors to know knowing theory/scales/keys/chords as it makes life SO much easier to understanding what is going on. Good luck....

  • some of the best tutorials ive seen, very helpful. thanks

  • you'd be a good music theory teacher .

  • u r the only one who makes tutorials that good!;D

    thx a lot!

  • you are great, you are the only person who managed to put it into mu head thank you

  • Thank you! your tutorials are incredible. You are very easy to work along with. Keep up the amazing work!

  • Am i right to say that music makes up a

lot of different chords of 1 particular scale??

    Like for example,

When you want to compose a music,

first, you have to choose a SCALE....

second, you know the 'formula' like 4-3 or 3-4, for that SCALE

third, by using that 'formula' you make up different CHORDS and then combine the different CHORDS together and form a music..

    Am I right?????

Please correct me if i'm wrong !!!

  • you forgot the 4th.Mastering!!!!

  • owh... what is Mastering??

Do you mind explaining in brief about it?? :D

  • Comment removed

  • @zimmer429 well, yeah kinda right :D

but learning an instrument, especially the piano or the guitar willl help a lot :D

  • @KalleBlomquist93: Thanks, yea i agree that learning instruments help alot... but it probably will take a long process & time before i could understand how to build chords....

i have just started learning classical guitar (on my own though) but since i'm now with FL Studiio, i hope i could know it now...

  • Thanx!

  • Dope tutorial. FL REPRESENT! All the beats on my page are made in FL.

Vids like this though ar so helpfull, will add to my subscribe list straight away. thanx pal!!

  • Being a hip hop Producer is easy once you gain control of your programs, but many of us myself included are diligently working to master piano to increase our range. These vids are important

  • @PadroPadro22 exactly me too

  • where is the chord progression tutorial i cant find it

  • great vid : )

  • it says look no hands

  • yea i got the virus warning for "look no hands"

  • Ok Bill we will use your browser.....NOT

  • does anyone know how to put a sample lets say from the fruity slicer or from edison into the fl keys, or into a piano roll on FL studio 8?? any suggestion would be much appreciated

  • erm im not 100% sure what you mean. but if you mean you have some kind of sample in edison and you want to play it on the piano roll you could just save the sample and then load up "sample" from the insert channel menu then load up the sample.

  • looknohands is malware

  • great lesson yet again

  • looknohouse is a virus site i have just found out cus it tried launchin an attack at ma comp. so i reccomend u not even try visit the site

  • it's look no hands, not look no house and it works fine for me.

  • chord house doesnt work...need an alternate website

  • oh, found it.

  • could you tell me the chord house website adress becouse i cant hear on toturial...

  • music a thefxcode a com slash magicpiano a html

    replace "a" with "."

  • A chord is a scheme of 3 notes at the same time, with 1 note between. Like the guy says in the vid.

    example: A C E, (1 note between each time, B and D there)

You can also make a 7 chord, u just add another one.

    A C E G for example :p

  • where's the chords progression tutorial?

  • thx..u are great

  • ey dude all theese dumb ass people dont kno shit i appriciate what ur duin its super helpfull leep da shit kumn thanx IzzY

  • 2 or more notes played at the same time i believe it is. Im not criticizing or anything thats just what i was taught.

Excellent job though i love all your tutorial vids they help me alot thank you.

  • you make me sick to faggot...nfx has the best tutorials...

  • Don't get me wrong, I have no idea what it is that you're replying to here, it was no doubt maddening and ignorant.... but use of the word faggot hardly implies any intelligence on your part. The english language is vast, I'm sure you can come up with better insults to throw at people that don't suggest that you're stuck in the last century. Since I know what's coming from this, I am going to make a preemptive statement and say that I love the pussy.

  • @ReverendKronic Faggot.

  • the web (cordhouse).. does anybody know about another online lession/tutorial about the chords ? cuz it doesnt work

  • no but i know a program that is really really good

its called earmaster it teaches you a lot abou chordes and teaches you how to learn to play by ear which means youll know every notes by heart which makes creating melodies a pieace of cake

  • Cordhouse seems to be up again. I don't what was with it couple days ago, but to me, it works fine now.

  • That site doesn't work anymore.

  • Noticed that... That website would have helped me a lot lol

  • dude if you use the 1st 3rd and the 5th note in the scale you wont have to remember the the steps method. the chords in this tutorials are called arpeggios. not trying to slam just trying to educate

  • awesome bro plz make a video on different genre bassline along with cords cords to get an idea....plz plz..

  • thanks ive been stressing the melodies!! lol i just been playing by ear

  • BUT if you are playing a Cmajor chord in a song and decided to use the Cminor chord in the "change-up" part of the song, then the RULES DO NOT apply.

    Music is Freedom indeed...

so you can experiment for years and not be wrong doing so.

but playing a Cminor with a Cmajor scale would sound wacky as heck...so the Cminor scale would be wiser to use.

  • hey can you make a tutorial on how to make a grime beat i would appreciate it soo much

  • If you could listen to some of my beats or just rate them to get them started!!!! That would be apprciated and lets all be friends on youtube!!! thanks p.s. I'll return the favor on comments and rating.

  • One of the best things is, that you use highly beginner-friendly "language" instead of difficult music terms. Thank you!

  • You make the dopest videos on youtube!!!!

    thanks alot man!!!

  • this tutorial is gold mine - thanks a lot
