what is the controversy with these singers? I don't see any but only good singing talent. one comment here is saying "no originality". remember you start by singing popular songs that can compete with the original singers and that's when you are discovered. originality starts when you're already popular. just look at charice now. the only problem is that charice don't have the proper people to make her a star in the western world to obtain platinum stardom.

Let me correct some of the people here. By no means filipinos are the only once who sings as you all are trying to imply. Most South East Asians are very good in singing what weparates the Filipinos is thier natural english language tongue. If Filipinos sing Tagalog or other Fil dialects you will find thier tone and voice isnt that far away from thier other SEA counterparts. Its when they sing English songs that that the difference is very noticeable.

If singing through the notes is a copy cat then why should choirs sing through notes, they are copy cats too. All existing music have musical scores so if one sings through an existing arrangement and the singer uses the same, she is not a copycat she just interprets it as arranged. It is not therefore her fault if she has the same timbre of voice as the original singer as in the case of Charice and Whitney.

Possibly why Pinoys have this natural warmth because of their language.
