I love the Who & I have whole collection of Gibson SGs inspired by my love of the Who and Pete's playing, but I recognize what Pete could and could not do playing guitar. His best leads were the ones where he didn't try to overkill but gave the song what it needed. Example: My Generation at Monterey; See Me Feel Me at Woodstock. He's a hell of a lot better than a five year old, but he fully understood his limitations.

I think without Keith's drumming it sounds like a different song. Also, since Thunderfingers isn't there they really lost ALOT of what made them great. Still a great song though, and god bless Pete and Roger.

Pete's Gibson sound was mush loud. Strats he uses now are clean and mean thrown through the right amplification. They do drive him nuts cause they go out of tune when he bangs them around, Gibsons never did.

no, i don't think he should. I think hes good with the Clapton strat's, i mean they sound just as good and they have a lot of new energy in them just because they've been learning new ways to play their songs and got new gear. The popularity of Les Pauls is anyway going down, even though i personally love the guitars but I do prefer strats and I think townshend sounds better playing strats too.
