DPW is just doing their job by cleaning the filthy sidewalks. If you do not like it, the city should let these bums piss, shit, shoot/smoke dope, and live on your door step... Then at the end of the day, spray everywhere else but your place.
you know what's funny is that it's actually our governments fault that caused people to end up like this. It was the problem as a result of an imbalance and shift of views in the wars we faught. And government and private. notice how in some other heavily populated cities around the world, There aren't that many homeless people as there are here. That's because everyone is working. we need more private ventures and less government getting into peoples lives. i'm also not a libertarian.
they do this down on 13th street under the freeway all the time. The homeless who stay under the freeway are not around when the DPW comes around. If they are, they are warned a few minutes before the area is soaked. On the bright side, it's not done when it is storming so the homeless have some sort of shelter from the rain. It is not done to "wash away" the homeless but it is to clean the health hazards of urine and feces which would be knee deep otherwise.
Evil at work.....guess we should save the rich and destroy the poor these days, what a wonderful new world we live in! No one really matters anymore unless they can afford to!
They spray because of all the piss and shit on the sidewalks.SF has no public toilets. I know it's wrong but is anyone suprised that the city workers don't just clean around them? They can't work during the day because there are too many people out.Can you imagine the mountain of crackhead poop we'd be living in if nobody cleaned up?
hmm a city without classes and homeless ppl, xD 1 day just 1 day it will become amazing city, i just hope my home city would do that soon xD (its SF of course)
We just deleted a comment for inappropriateness, but that comment effectively suggested that this was the only way to clean the sidewalks. It is, in fact, possible to clean the sidewalks without soaking homeless people. The Department of Public Works program in this video is not currently in operation, but DPW still cleans Central City sidewalks.
Those trucks are supposed to clean the streets, not the sidewalks. I have lived here for 40 years, and I never saw such treatment of the poor. There have always been rich and poor in Sf, but when I moved here the rich used to care about the poor. And in 1986, they used to come around and wake the homeless before they watered the grounds around city hall. Where are we going. And I can only pity those who have shown no compassion in their comments here.
People should be more concerned about how the city treats it's poor. In a city the size of SF with the resources it has there is no excuse for the cruelty it hurls at the most vulnerable. Poverty should be replaced with opportunity.

I would guess the SF's "resources" are about tapped. I understand California's checking account is a little overdrawn.
