Tynan, have you got Futura 28 instead of i.e. Futura 32 on purpose, because it's smaller and lighter? I have found your video because I just bought Futura 32, then did a little research and found that '28 is 20% lighter while having all the features and looking more compact. Now I wonder i I should return the 32 and buy the 28 instead.
I plan on using my Futura backpack for bike trips and generally going everywhere, like the weaker version of what you do.
optijazz: as far as I could see, the laptop is IBM X60s, the same that I have, equipped with 8-cell battery (the largest one, gives up to 5h Wi-Fi surfing, 6h under ideal conditions). Diagonal IBM logo can be seen on the lid, opposite side from the cat sticker. This is the last model of the series that has IBM branding (prob. 2005-6). The extended battery is identified because it sticks an inch beyond the screen; regular battery doesn't (I have both)
If it's possible when you have the downtime could you list the brand/models of the items you're carrying so others know what to look/buy for? Love the compact setup. Looks like you have room in the main compartment after that load out for a 6.5W folding solar panel and small rechargeable li-ion battery pack should you be in the field with no AC plug.
Forgot to mention this video is relivent to me as I live a digital life and I love your gear and packing setup. Have you considered looking at the Futura 32 bag? Gives you another 4L of space while raising the top a bit more. Deuter came out with a sleeping bag that fits into a 1L nagelne bottle and rated to 40-60F and fits a 6' person. 1lb2oz weight. What laptop do you have fitted in there? Definately will be showing this video to a bunch of people wantign to travel but nto without thier tech.
I happened to stumble upon this video while looking for Deuter backpacks. I own the Deuter AC28 and Deuter Race Exp. Air (biking and also small enough for a chest bag but not compactable). Perhaps it's the lighting in the room but I love the black and I think grey look of your bag. My Futura AC 28 is a charcoal/silver two tone. Not sure if they different color models for different countries. I hail from Canada. What year is your Deuter bag?

Damn, I wish I could do what he is doing but I would have no source of income for my travels since I have no programing skills at all.

He's been traveling for over a year with that one little backpack.
It's pretty wild.

My bad, just checked his site. It was seven months.
Still, a fine adventure/lifestyle.
