  • WooT! I live in Silesia in southern Poland :D

  • dunky?

  • 'Passports,please?

They're a bit clangy and a bit jammy.'

Yes well I'm from the steel and jam area of Stuttgart.

  • Well 50 escapees were executed by the Gestapo...and most of them were British...but it's true, only 3 Americans I think versus 70 British and a handful of people of other nationalities were involved.

  • Aha! It's true whats Eddie says about Brit kids watching this thinking 'all that planning and we're fucked, no matter what we do!' That's exactly what I thought the first time I watched it a few years ago.

I was thirteen and I was amazed by the movie all the way through till all the brits started dying. Had enjoyed watching all the intricate plans being made, only to see them be destroyed by a feckin' plot line xD Good times! xx

  • Bad audio

  • well, he may be from mars but im small so im from Pluto

  • ....its incredible that they continue to put the great escape on tv EVERY Christmas holiday...

  • @ mad4john

I don't think he said any thing he just makes it up

  • what was the line he spoke in german?

  • @Mad4john Monty Python: "Jawohl, mein Herr. So habe ich einige wenige Lacher bekommen". Yes sir, that's how I got some very few laughs.

  • @javaskin THANKS FOR THAT :)

  • I'm just getting over a bad cough that I've had for several days. I keep breaking into coughing fits from laughing so hard!

  • ˝Talk British to my kids˝ LOL

  • One thing is for certain: I'll never gonna feel the same about that movie ever again. I've watched it countless times when I was a kid and it had a certain magic for me. Thanx, Eddie, for ruining a childhood pleasure for me.And then again, he's about 95% right. Especially since the whole motocycle chase thing was McQueen's idea of spicing up (early action Hollywood style) an otherwise actor's movie, almost theater-like. Izzard is clearly one of the best comedians when it comes to pop culture.

  • "Absolutely goodday." hahahha

  • If anyone asks me if im british im gunna say im from mars now

  • @72SuperAnna72 That's an interesting bit of sarcasm, funny too.

  • God my ears are bleeding...

  • Epic

  • Eddie Izzard made a Monty Python reference...I can die happy now.

  • @PickledCabages Actually... he made two Monty Python references. First the Spanish Inquisition... then the line he spoke in German. Eddie is great.

  • I always tell people to takj Brisish.Even people not from Britland.

  • @TheKimdunn britain

  • @02obrienf Are you sure?

  • @TheKimdunn i'm assuming thats a piss take?

  • @02obrienf Yup.

  • "Talk British to my kids!"

  • Eddie makes me glad I watched that movie. Haha!

  • Aww we love you guys!

  • Who caught the [some-what] Monty Python reference? xD!

  • @PhillipTunaLunatique NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH....tunnel king?

  • @GetBentley Let's try that again

  • 2:31 omfg. XD

  • The video sounds like a pull string eddie izzard doll.

  • The American actor dropped into British films in order to make them sell".....

    ROTFLMAO

  • THE HANGING GARDENS OF BABYLON!!!...... roflmaocetun :D

  • @Seraphail I think you're just making abbreviations up now... o.O

  • @EmoPrincess1213 nah it exists i've witnessed it's use!!! >:)

  • ahhhh the "intelligence" of rednecks lol

  • 2:31 DERP

    :3

  • If you don;t know the geography... and he doesn't

  • @20MrBigmac No way! And I thought it's completely true what he had said

  • @mun150 Well of course he knows the geography, he was just pretending not to for the joke. Now you on the otherhand, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic...

  • @20MrBigmac yes I've been sarcastic. It's hard to not know where Poland is living in it ;)

  • Talk british to mah kids!

  • it's Czech Republic AND Slovakia - two countries! no longer one :P

    otherwise amazing!!! :)

  • @adda141 No need to get all national-pride-defensive, he was talking about the time of the war...Eddie Izzard's more of an internationals than most/any other comedians!:)

  • @adda141 The reference was WWII remember and anyway it was just a random ix of countries to make the joke

  • I think Eddie Izzard should play the joker

  • sound quality is shit

  • @mrmalade agreed!

  • I think I've seen this 30 times, but it's still hysterical! "... bits of tin can with a bit of jam ... clang." I love his geography! "... where the Nazi gold comes from." Brilliant. Just brilliant!

  • LOL!

  • try coming to the blue states i bet we don't talk like that there ^

  • @Gvanillavodka :) I live in a blue state and I want him to come here, lol-- don't know what year this is from, btw, does anyone know?

  • um.. the movie was about American and british POW's not just british.

  • Gotta love how about 2 people got the Monty Python reference.

  • Love this! My uncle was one of the 26 who did not get shot. Spent the entire war (first Canadian captured) in prison camps except for two days hiding in snow. Great take on the american view of the war..motorcycle riding to Switz. etc. vs the reality of cold and death for the 50.

  • hhahah! i like how he added that lil monty python joke :)

  • Hahaha what is it with him and jam????

  • "Look, we are going too do the biggest excape in the history of people excaping from things they should'nt!"

  • Jimmi-sue, Bobby-will.... Fishy bob.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

  • @czechreck LMAO I love that a British comedian can even recognize that here in America, people in the South have a tendancy to name their kids things like Bobby Sue and Bobbi Jo and so on-- not all of them, naturally, it's a stereotype but still fricking hilarious.

  • what monty python line is that in german?

  • I think it's from the sketch about the deadly joke. not sure though

  • haha its so true about the steve mcqueen comment at the start...

  • Alcatraz ;o) If the video of the introduction he does to it is on here, I can't recommend it highly enough.

  • turn the sound off on this video... and its almost as funny

  • its the dress to kill dvd so it was filmed in San Fransisco

  • I LOVE SF!!!LOL ITS RIGHT!THE CITY!

  • Where was this filmed?

  • San Francisco.

  • I bought The Great Escape JUST b/c I'd seen Dress to Kill so often that I just had to see what he was talking bout! And I was cracking up through the whole movie, with his anecdotes running through my head. haha I love this man.

  • Me too, only it was The Italian Job. :D (Great movie too, though.)

    Eddie's the best!

  • That's great. I TRIED to watch Das Boot (b/c of his reference in Definite Article) but I just couldn't make it through it. Wayyyy long.

  • Awh, yeah, I want to see that one too.

  • Howdy good buddies. Self-absorbed American here. Never heard of Eddie Izzard till now. Now he's a right funny fellow, and clever as the day is long. It doesn't look like he prepares anything (except his wardrobe and makeup). Does he just do all this great comedy shootin' from the hip (oops, excuse my American - I mean, extemporaneously)? He seems to be sort of a Brittish Robin Williams.

  • Eddie's fantastic!

Well, it's somewhat prepared 'cause sometimes he says things like "Oh, I forgot the rest of my show!", but he does ad-lib and come up with things as he goes along. In interviews he's said he wants every show to be different, so he changes them up from show to show.

  • which ones the where he says "you fuck my wife? you fuck my wife?"

  • brit vs us movies

  • LOL Its really creepy to watch this out of sync..but anyhoo, gotta love Eddie Izzard! =^____^=

  • "No one expects the Spanish Tunnel King!"

  • lol....loved that. "Three tunnels...no, four tunnels...no, five tunnels....No one expects the Spanish Tunnel King!"

  • thats a reference to monty python's "the spanish inquisition" sketch

  • Interesting choice of words. You find British humour "confusing". I wonder why that could be.

No, I simply won't make that joke. It's too obvious.

  • So firstly, why put guy in quote marks? And secondly, insulting his humour is one thing (when he's clearly quite genius) but just calling horrible because you don't understand him... What's with that?

  • i wonder what he said in German...

  • just consulted with my friend. apparently, random german words.

  • He said, "I would like a ticket to London.... er Calley." Then something about passport.

  • Calais I think he said

  • hell ye, he rullz all right!!

  • he is the best

  • is he a transvestite

  • Yep.

  • Well yes, yes he is. He's an executive transvestite.

  • Heh, slightly subtle Monty Python reference there...:)

  • Poland, Czechoslovakia, Holland, Venezuela, Africa, (unintelligible), THE HANGING GARDENS OF BABYLON, and then Switzerland.

  • Beirut comes after Africa

  • bad audio quality, but still funny!

  • "You British?" "No, I'm from Mars, actually" That's so funny!

  • haha i was pissing myself laughing at that line i'd just love to say that to an american who asked me that question lol

  • Thanks for this!
