lol, your comment is laughable. First of all, learn to articulate a proper sentence, and second of all there are mountains of stories similar to the Mcreith's. Canadians spend over 1billion a year in the US because they cant receive proper care in Canada. In most provinces you cant even get a CT or MRI scan for 12-13 weeks because of over-crowding. Many Canadian citizens are on waiting lists for up to 6 months to receive something as simple as a Cortizone injection.

Once again you have proven you cannot (or will not) research the issue. Most Canadian clinics send their patients to the US for radiation therapy (Cancer Patients to Head South, Medical Post, Vol. 35, No. 22). Canada uses the United States as a safety valve for its overtaxed health care system,
with patients spending a combined total of more than $1 billion a year on U.S. medical care. (Victor Dirnfeld, The Benefits of Privatization, Canadian Medical Association Journal, Vol. 155, No. 4)

I haven't made a thing up. 27 days? Really? Maybe in several anecdotal cases but the Canadian Health Service has stated that wait times routinely average from 8-13 weeks for an MRI (that's your own data- FROM Canada). The current wait times in Toronto, for non-emergency MRI's are 30 days+. The longest wait time for a non-emergency MRI is at a hospital in Newmarket, where it's 142 days. In Grey/Bruce, it's 19 days. All results are longer than U.S wait times by a large margin.

Since your so adept at Youtube, do a search on the downfalls of the Canadian system, I did a simple search, I typed "Canadian Health Care System" and got over 2,000 results for videos mostly showing the depravities of Canada's system. Try using the same search for Google and you will find PLENTY of info backing up my statements. Also, look at your own government website which publishes yearly health care statistics and see for yourself.

This type of injection could be received at a walk-in appointment at most MD's offices. Surgeries in Canada are back logged for nearly 2 years for something as simple as a knee or hip replacement, a procedure available in the US within 1-2 weeks. Canada also suffers from drastically low CT and MRI scanners compared to the US because medical funds go towards funding its wasteful system. There are mountains of documentation to prove everything I have stated, a simple Google search will do that.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And as far as your last comment goes, it is painfully obvious you lack the intellectual fortitude to carry on a meaningful conversation, calling names proves you have nothing better to say, and it proves I am right because you cannot argue the point with your own facts. I haven't made a thing up about your healthcare system, this type of knowledge is fairly mainstream, and the statistics are even found on your own government websites! How's that for a Yank ;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
People in the United States are never dropped from life-saving procedures because of an inability to pay, it simply does not happen, it is illegal to deny anyone medical care that would save their life. Knee surgery candidates in Canada (if they are older than 65) are mostly denied the procedure- because it is too costly and they are too old to benefit. The reason why they wait is because the Canadian government can't afford it. You really don't know your own medical system that well do you?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What about the elderly in Canada? The government has decided that people over 80 years old are ineligible for the hip and knee surgery priority program again because their surgeries take longer. This is particularly ironic because older Canadians are arguably more entitled to these surgeries, having paid more taxes into the system over their lifetime, than their younger fellow citizens.
Canada rations care- that's the only way that the government can barely afford to pay for it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
After years of government control the Canadian medical system is badly injured and bleeding citizens' hard-earned tax dollars. The institute compared health care systems in the industrialized countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and found Canada currently spends the most, yet ranks among the lowest on indicators like access to physicians, quality of medical equipment, and key health outcomes. (July 2004 Vancouver FI "Paying, More, Getting Less")

Unfortunately there were several studies done by health watch dog groups in Canada that show that those with the most money can jump the cue, there have even been several politicians who succeed at jumping in line because they can pay for it. Once again, it doesn't matter at all that I am not a Canadian, the data is available to both of us, and I have actually read and understood it ;) It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize the fallacies of the Canadian system. I also have another question for you- do YOU work in, or participate in Canadian health care besides from being a patient? So far (judging by your immaturity) I am guessing you are a teenager who doesn't have any experience with a health care system of any kind.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You can't win this argument, so you retort to name calling and dogging me for a video I posted several years ago? Wow, you really got nothing left do you?
Judged on your rhetoric you are the one who is "trolling". I have presented data and facts (from your own government WITH sources) and you have name called...so who's trolling who?
GDP does NOT include population densities, it is simply a measurement of the goods and service provided by a country. A freshman level college statistics class teaches that.
No cherry picking here; the information is out there and I simply read, and understood it.
You know you miserably lost this debate, thats why you still have yet to present facts other than opinion- but hey, you enjoy your health care. Ignorance sure must be bliss...
I tried to end my debate with you for a week now and even though I blocked you; some how you still find away to fill my in box, you are the troll and its very clear. Unless you can prove the US healthcare is better thats all youre doing is trolling.
By the way I forgot Canada had a way lower infant mortality rate as well.
You havent won anything all you have proven is that Canada healthcare is not perfect but I never claimed it was. What I claimed is it is better than US healthcare and it is.
100% of Canadians have healthcare coverage.
15% of the US population is completely uninsured, and 24% have below basic coverage.
Canadians live longer on average than US Citizens
US spent 15.3% of GDP on health care
Canada spent 10.0%
It's not perfect but its better than US healthcare and that is undeniable.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You can't make a comparison between the percentage of GDP spent because the US GDP is vastly larger than the Canadian GDP, so of course yours will be smaller. You also have a MUCH smaller population and therefore spend much, much less- so your statistic is void.
100% of Canadians have ACCESS to waiting lists for medical care, I would hardly call access to waiting lists "medical coverage".
% of GDP takes the population difference into consideration so yes it is a fair compression. It would not be a fair comparison if it was a straight dollar value, you dont seem to understand anything or you simply deny facts to prove yourself right. Your arguments are weak so you have to rig the debate. Im done with you and this will be my last post you so full of shit. Info cherry picking how very Bush and Cheney of you.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Infant mortality rate is not a measure of a countries health system, there are far too many factors that play into such a statistic to rate a health care system upon it as a solo value. However, probably one of the best ways to measure the wellness of a health system is in "responsiveness", a measurement of how quickly and effectively a health system caters to patients, and how quickly those patients recover. In the WHO report the US ranked #1, while Canada ranked #7.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Canadians also have less children, so naturally, your infant mortality rate is going to be lower than ours. Canada: 330,000 a year; the US: 4,096,335a year. Even when adjusted for population densities we still have more births annually, so obviously our infant mortality rate will be higher. Still, it is not a criteria for ranking a health system as socio-economics between our two countries vary so widely.

Please, tell me specifically where and how I have lied. I have presented valid sources for all of my statements- you have produced nothing but childish rhetoric.

By the way, thanks for the laughs and your attempt at defending Canada's health system.

You quoted a study without posting a source, so unfortunately I can't verify your comment. BUT- the uninsured in America have superb medical coverage and are not denied care anywhere, US legislation prevents them from being denied care. They have better access to primary medical care than Canadians (NEJM: vol 26, issue 4). They also have better outcomes from care (NEJM: vol 22, issue 6).

haha- yet again you have shown your complete lack of integrity as you continuously ignore facts that I have presented- please take a moment to look at all the articles and sources (almost all from Canada) that shows and proves my point. Your ignorance is completely and utterly laughable.
The funny thing is that you are getting so angry because you know that I am right, and have no valid argument- so your only defense to swear and stamper...like a 5 year old.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I haven't quoted or stated a thing that I have seen on Fox or CNN. My facts are from your own government data and stories of individuals from your own country. Canadians have a longer life expectancy for several reasons that have nothing to do with health care. Two of which are: 1) Socio-economics are DRASTICALLY different, The US has a higher minority population, which generally lives a less-healthier lifestyle. 2) The diet in the U.S. is fairly un-healthy compared to Canada's.

No one in America can go without health care, there is already Medicaid which pays for those who cannot afford privatized health insurance, so stating that there are "50 million" uninsured is a blatant mis-representation of factual truth.

Trolling can be defined as one who purposely insights arguments for no other sake than arguing, one who swears, rants and raves and does not contribute to the discussion and one who speaks maliciously to others. I have done nothing of the sort, you have done all of the above. (hence the reason why nearly all of your comments have been deleted from the thread, none of mine have been removed.)

Finally, you present something even remotely related to our discussion on health care! I completely agree with you that the United States health care system isn't perfect, you wont find a perfect one in the entire world. I never lied about a thing, stop misrepresenting what I have stated.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol, the WHO health care rating system is grossly flawed, and, how come the very same report later ranked the US number 3 after removing some parameters that favor a government run system? The Canadian system, per capita, is one of the most expensive, and wasteful system in the world (as stated by the same WHO report you are quoting). It helps to actually read the report and understand how systems are ranked.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
By the way, it is completely untrue that there are 50 million "uninsured" in America, this is blatantly false, the truth is that 22 million of those are illegal aliens, and another 20 million are individuals who are 18-35 years of age who choose not to carry health insurance. 5 million are those who are in-between jobs and don't have insurance because they get it through their work and the remaining 3 million is merely an estimated buffer statistic.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Provide me with evidence of what you are saying is true and then I will lend you some credibility, until then your name calling is just that: meaningless name-calling from someone unable and unwilling to verify factual data. I could look at the sky all day long and tell everyone else that its red, and call anyone who disagrees with me is a "liar", but it doesn't make it any less true that the sky, is in fact, blue. Calling me a liar doesn't change the fact that Canadian health care is sub-par.
When the UK went to a two tier medical system those with money got immediate attention and those who were poor ended up on even longer waiting lists. With private health - the insurance companies only want to insure the young and healthy, and the best doctors are lured away leaving the public system with what's left. Our system in Canada may need a bit of a upgrade but it is still the envy of many Americans, who have for example, a much higher infant mortality rate.
I lived in the US for 20 years and experienced its dismal HMO system. The last 5 years I was there I had no health insurance at all. So how many Americans don't have health insurance these days.....something like 50 million and growing. Look's good on ya. As I always say, waiting for health care in Canada is a lot better than getting no health care in the US. Besides, I prefer having my doctor make my health care decisions for me instead of an insurance agent.
You are full of shit again under the Canada health act only youre Doctor and you get to decide what kind of medical service you need. The only time the government gets involved is if you leave the country the government decide if they will pay for medical done out of state. That include your lie about elderly and the knee and hip surgery, you are a huge liar and Reich wing propagandises you cannot win a debate with lies in Canada only in the USA were lying is second nature to you right wingers.
Lindsay's situation was an isolated case and the "facts" in this video are wrong. The World Health Organization consistently ranks Canada health care system higher than the United States. Canadians have a great life expectancy 80.5 years, US 77.5 years.Canada has a lower infant mortality rate. More Americans die to botched health care treatment than Canadians.
yeah, you can get health care in the US if you have the money - which is what, 20% of the American population. if i had a brain tumor the superb care in Buffalo would not help me.
This gentleman could have got the same care in Cuba - at a much lower cost.
This video villifies the Canadian healthcare system... Funny thing is people immigrate to Canada for healthcare... I've been to Buffalo some parts are complete ghettos. The reason the Canadian system is a bit sluggish is cause they put everyone for healthcare. It's a quite noble act but it is quite difficult to make it a realistic venture in these days...
My mother had breast cancer but it was a grade 1 and we live in Canada. From my understand if Lindsay had a grade 4 then he would be died within a year and no treatment could save him.
Grade 2 are NOT urgent and 1 in 3 live for 5 years WITH NO treatment and 2 in 3 live for 5 years with radiation and chemo only. Tumor removal for grade 2 is not done often and only if the cancer is in area which will not effect any major functions of the person.
whats the point of free if govt cannot provide it lol

with patients spending a combined total of more than $1 billion a year on U.S. medical care.

What about the elderly in Canada? The government has decided that people over 80 years old are ineligible for the hip and knee surgery priority program again because their surgeries take longer. This is particularly ironic because older Canadians are arguably more entitled to these surgeries, having paid more taxes into the system over their lifetime, than their younger fellow citizens.
Canada rations care- that's the only way that the government can barely afford to pay for it.

You can't make a comparison between the percentage of GDP spent because the US GDP is vastly larger than the Canadian GDP, so of course yours will be smaller. You also have a MUCH smaller population and therefore spend much, much less- so your statistic is void.
100% of Canadians have ACCESS to waiting lists for medical care, I would hardly call access to waiting lists "medical coverage".
cordovamx 2 years ago
% of GDP takes the population difference into consideration so yes it is a fair compression. It would not be a fair comparison if it was a straight dollar value, you dont seem to understand anything or you simply deny facts to prove yourself right. Your arguments are weak so you have to rig the debate. Im done with you and this will be my last post you so full of shit. Info cherry picking how very Bush and Cheney of you.

2) The diet in the U.S. is fairly un-healthy compared to Canada's.

lol, the WHO health care rating system is grossly flawed, and, how come the very same report later ranked the US number 3 after removing some parameters that favor a government run system? The Canadian system, per capita, is one of the most expensive, and wasteful system in the world (as stated by the same WHO report you are quoting). It helps to actually read the report and understand how systems are ranked.

Our system in Canada may need a bit of a upgrade but it is still the envy of many Americans, who have for example, a much higher infant mortality rate.
dicivi 3 years ago 18
I lived in the US for 20 years and experienced its dismal HMO system. The last 5 years I was there I had no health insurance at all. So how many Americans don't have health insurance these days.....something like 50 million and growing. Look's good on ya. As I always say, waiting for health care in Canada is a lot better than getting no health care in the US. Besides, I prefer having my doctor make my health care decisions for me instead of an insurance agent.

because having the government make those decisions is so much better right?

Lindsay's situation was an isolated case and the "facts" in this video are wrong. The World Health Organization consistently ranks Canada health care system higher than the United States. Canadians have a great life expectancy 80.5 years, US 77.5 years.Canada has a lower infant mortality rate. More Americans die to botched health care treatment than Canadians.
JohnPurvis 3 years ago 15
yeah, you can get health care in the US if you have the money - which is what, 20% of the American population. if i had a brain tumor the superb care in Buffalo would not help me.
This gentleman could have got the same care in Cuba - at a much lower cost.
arlihow 3 years ago 14
This video villifies the Canadian healthcare system... Funny thing is people immigrate to Canada for healthcare... I've been to Buffalo some parts are complete ghettos. The reason the Canadian system is a bit sluggish is cause they put everyone for healthcare. It's a quite noble act but it is quite difficult to make it a realistic venture in these days...
gundamWWW 3 years ago 10
My mother had breast cancer but it was a grade 1 and we live in Canada. From my understand if Lindsay had a grade 4 then he would be died within a year and no treatment could save him.
Grade 2 are NOT urgent and 1 in 3 live for 5 years WITH NO treatment and 2 in 3 live for 5 years with radiation and chemo only. Tumor removal for grade 2 is not done often and only if the cancer is in area which will not effect any major functions of the person.
