Was this part of the Master's Demonstrations or were you actually competing? If you were competing, would they have deducted points for not ending up where you started?
@TaoOfTheFist Well this video was of the competition part. There was no rules or regulations of such a matter in writing. Judges may have their own personal opinions on that subject. It would be kind of strange for someone to grade you low on something of that. Should solely be based on your performance.
@lohanshinobu The main reason I asked is because I was just reading the rules and it says that the form has to end in the same quadrant (I was going to compete in beginners when it comes to Vegas, but plans changed). But if a traditional form starts one place and ends in the opposite direction and area, I don't see how they can deduct points.Glad you agree :) Anyway, thanks for the input.
@TaoOfTheFist I think... they just want you not to set foot out of bounds. One of our younger students got 2nd place and not 1st because he stepped out of bounds. LOL I thought it was funny though. Just be aware of the boundaries, and the rules written down are more like guidelines to follow.
@TaoOfTheFist Most of the 10 sets of Shaolin long fist don't finish where they start, they just finish when they finish. Thats how they were taught, they go all the way back to Wong Jack Man and Kuyu Cheung in this matter.
Okinawan Kara-Ta end up where you started because they were practicing secretively inside Shaolin, the original and complete source, does not.
