Best Final Fantasy in awhile here. Loved 12.  13 was an utter disappointment to me. Why they never developed the combat system from FF12 and improve upon it is beyond me.

As far as the battle game-play goes. This one was THE best. Not only that, but all characters were pretty much customizable. You could make a character a bad ass melee type damage doer, or make them a primary spell caster such as healer/nuker. And the way you could pick and choose the party you wanted? Genius..All FF are great in there own way. But the game play of this one takes the cake for certain.

True. I don't like VII and X but I've spent almost 100 hours in XII hunting monster for guild (killed only first 40 and Hell Wyrm - last 5 and that big robot are just too hardcore for me) collecting stuff anddoing side quest. More 'fucked up' games like this one.

If you did chose to change its battle system, make it more interactive, god of war..ish... or maybe like Dissidia. What I seriously hate about this game is that its 90% normal attacks and cures. Magic pretty much isn't worth the MP you need for curing, and the attacks look boring as fuck. Sure, it's fun to run around and dodge AoE attacks and customize a little, but what it really lacks is some impressive skillset. I´m roughly 8 hours in and the only reason I still continue is cause the story is interesting. inb4fanboys

They just should have made it impossible to put the party leader on Gambits until near the end of the game. That way some people wouldn't say the game plays itself.

Seriously, playing this game with Gambits off the party leader makes this the best battle system in the series. It's like Kingdom Hearts with no jumping but customizable AI for Donald and Goofy.

@culverandhardy626 To level up all 6 takes alot longer. I've always leveled up 3 characters. I definitely needed more than 3 characters to be leveled up while fighting zodiark and I do have a slot where all my characters have been upgraded to their max. I loved this FF

I don't think any FF will ever top VI in terms of character and story, but 12 was some of the most fun I have had playing a FF game, esp. since they became 3D. It is one of the 10 or so perfect games on the PS2 imho.

what i did to make it fun was put the gambits on all my chars but the person i was using and manually controlled that character... made it a little more difficult than having everything automatically done but more fun as well. i like this game as well and it has an interesting abilities and spells learning system. not as good as 7 but still a good one
