  • You no PLE is also a disease that my dog has :(

  • Add "NIP" to the title and you'll get more views.

  • Great presentation. I'm a teacher and looking to introduce this tool to my students, after I explore it more myself. Keep up the good work!

  • it still seems I have alot to learn about how to help students incorporate this into the classroom. The video is great! Thanks!

  • Thanks, I tried the programme, it's good.

  • That sounds like a wonderful learning enviorment, but Symbalo (I believe that what's it called", but it costs $500 to have that according to the website, I would love to have that. But that sounds like a really essential programming that can enable students to have an easier time in school. U sounded so sophisticated and intellectual during this video. Nice work...keep making videos. :)

  • I can't see what the notetaking programme is called. Seems very useful.

  • @Skytteflickan88 The note taking tool is Evernote. See Evernote dot com.

  • Hi and I hope you're still following the comment thread for this video :). I was hoping to find out what screen-capture software you used for this video. I see SymbolEDU has a paid service, so I thought you might be paying for other software, too. Thanks.

  • @ricosuave90210 We used iShowU HD for the screencast portion of the video. The rest of the editing was done in iMovie.

  • @wdrexler Many thanks for the info. Keep well and thanks for posting the vid!

  • The video was very informative, and I think she did a great job on explaining step by step how to use and generate any information you need from a click of a button.

  • Ms. Drexler, is doing some wonderful things with these 7th graders. I wish this had been around in my day. Narrating was good, examples were good, and easy to follow.

  • Ms.Drexler is doing some wonderful things with these 7th graders. I only wished this could have been around in my day. Great job by the student narrator as the examples were just as good. Instructions were easy to follow as well

  • Wow! I just got "schooled" by a 7th grader! Great job, Ms. Drexler and student! Please let her know that because of her video, I am adding Evernote to my PLN. Dr. Strange from the University of Alabama recommended this video to our EDM-310 class and I'm so glad he did!

  • This is such a great idea! I will definitely be using this in the future

  • Wendy,

Whitney here again :) I think this is a great presentation, congrats to the student who helped in creating this! I am very new to this idea of PLN but am very excited to get started! This was a great reference for me! Thanks!

  • I am a student at the University of South Alabama. I think it is great how you are learning and organizing your information using the Internet. I plan on using some of your ideas for my own PLN. Good luck in class.

  • nice one! i'm going to use this one for my students! in primary school this will do great in the final year!

  • Wow .. this is amazing ... Congratulations ..

  • Wendy,

I'm a student in Dr. Strange's EDM 310 class. I love the way you organized your PLE. I hope you dont mind if i use some of your methods! I am learning new things everyday. Thank you for posting this video.

  • Your PLE is outstanding: creative, engaging, knowledgeable. I think you have captured the best of 21st century learning. You'd make a stellar teacher. I've sent this to the academic administrators in the elementary school where I am headmaster. Thank you for taking a leadership role as a talented student.

  • lol

  • lol

  • This was great! I appreciate hearing directly from a student about pulling learning together in this contemporary way. I'm going to use some of these ideas with the college students I teach.

  • wow, I wish I learned like this back in grade school.

    very, very impressed.

  • Wendy,

I'm a student in Dr. Strange's EDM 310 class. You did an excellent job on you PLE. You are so organized! I just learned what a PLE was and I am working on mine now. I sure wish I had you here in Alabama to help me. My PLE is not as "pretty" as yours. I have a lot to learn! Keep up the good work!!!!

  • Hi, I'm another student from Dr. Strange's EDM310 class. Your PLE looks great. Wow, times have certainly changed since I was in the 7th grade. You just don't know how lucky you are to be learning in an environment like this. Keep up the good work!

  • I really enjoyed watching your video. Your PLE is very expansive and your understanding of the power of responsibility is outstanding. I was most impressed to hear that you had not received feedback from your "scientist" yet you did not give up. Keep up the good work!

  • I'm so impressed both with all the engaging projects this student is doing as well as how well she expresses herself. This is a great model of where I would like my 7th grade students to be going. Jane Lofton, 7th grade language arts, Lindero Canyon MS, Agoura Hills, CA

  • hello, my name is Alex. I am a student at the University of South Alabama and i am not even afraid to admit that my PLE is 1/10th of what yours is. I am so impressed with how organized you are at such a young age. I know I was not any where close to this in the 7th grade. great job, keep up the good work, these tools will take you as far as you want to go in life.

  • I am a student of Dr. Stranges EDM310 class at the University of South Alabama. I enjoy doing new things with technology. Good work.

  • I am a student of Dr. Stranges EDM310 class at the University of South Alabama. Wow, amazing. I must say you are way ahead of me and I say that with shame. It's great to know that you have a teacher who is technologically literate. I am just now learning what you have almost mastered and I am 26 years old. so keep up the good work and hopefullyI will catch-up with you

  • Wow. Great work here. I too am in Dr. Strange's class and this video was really interesting to watch. This class is definitely on the cutting edge of 21st century education.

  • Hi, I'm from Dr. Strange's EDM 310 class as well. This was an awesome video. I wish I was as organized as this. I would probably have much less fear for my future. Keep up the good work, and things will work out great for you.

  • Kudos to this 7th grade student and Ms. Drexler. I was so impressed with the organization skills and the drive to be so responsible. Keep up your hard work!

  • Great video. I am in Dr. Strange's class as well and I enjoyed how you organized your PLE. Very well done. You are learning so much. Keep up the great work!

  • You have done an excellent job on your PLE. Try to stay as organized in anything else you do. I had to comment on your video as an assignment in Dr. Strange's EDm class at the University of South Alabma.

  • I really like your video. I am a student in Dr. Strange's EDM 310 class and have been learning about building a personal learning environment. I like the way you have set up and organized yours. The things you are learning and doing in this class are truly amazing. Keep up the good work!

  • I am very impressed! I'm a student at the University of South Alabama, and I must say that your PLE is more in depth than mine. It's very inspiring to see that you are able to learn how to use all of these tools at such a young age. These tools will take you very far! Keep up the good work!

  • Fabulous, astounded, you are awesome!

  • Wow! This is very advanced for a seventh grader. Good Work!

  • Excellent Job! i enjoyed your video about your personal learning environment. I am a student in an EDM 310 class and we are learning how to do these very things. I am so excited that you get to learn at such an early age. I feel that this way of learning does teach you responsibility. I know for me, I have been able to go at my own pace to a certain extent. Keep up the good work!

  • Excellent work I am a science teacher hoping to get my students to where you are sometime soon.

  • This is so cool. We're starting an innovation lab in our district - where kids have their own expert individual tutors and create their own pln/ple's. This is a perfect example for us to look at. Jumping from Wendy's The Networked Student to the beginning of this year - to this now.. grazie.

  • Symbaloo is a very nice way to start browsing on the internet!

  • Nice Job! I wish my kids had teachers like yours who promoted great 21st century thinking and learning! Keep up the great work!

  • I am very happy for you that you are able to learn this way, and hope it is not just your science class that does this. It would be great if your whole school was set up like this. Thanks a ton for sharing.

  • Excellent work! You have good presentation and technical skills Wendy and you're only in the 7th grade! Fascinating research project for you and the dissertation student. Keep up the good work.

  • Fabulous! Please tell me that your goals include becoming a teacher. (Actually, you're already a teacher; you taught me about Glogs!)

  • This is amazing! Wonderful work by Mr H's science student and props to Wendy.

  • Great work Wendy and student of Wendy. Really shows the power and potential of networked learning and the personal learning environment. And what educator could argue for blocking YouTube in the school after seeing that? Oh wait...they probably won't see it. Sad.

  • Chica, eres estupenda

  • Wow! This is very polished and professional. Well done!

  • This video has opened up a whole new dimension to my grade 9 Science Current Events Portfolios! I've never used them before as they never quite fit my requirements. The introduction of "Glogs" was just what I needed to get the kids motivated. What started out as a pen and paper assignment has now exploded into a universe of possibilities for the kids! Thanks for sharing this!

  • I LOVE THIS YOUTUBE!!!! I have shared with my colleagues.... and most especially my son.... who is in 7th grade and is doing nothing close to this type of work!!!!

  • Thank you. I'm getting a little better with each screencast. But, I agree. It looks easier than it is. The kids do seem to catch on faster. :-) We used IShowU HD.

  • This is fantastic. Not only the content of the video but also the flawless production. It' s really tough creating a good screencast. You must have put a lot of work into this.
