Turnovers can make a game more interesting or make it painful to watch, in this case it was the former. I think Michigan's defense did surprisingly well this game after Appalachian State and Oregon had their way with the Michigan defense, holding Florida to 2-11 on third down. That's just crazy!

Sorry guys, but you hardly "owned" Florida in this game -- it was really quite a fluke if you look at the stats. Florida dominated Michigan from start to finish, but had a lot of bad breaks. If this game were played 10 more times, Florida would easily win all 10 of them. I was at the game...and it wasn't close. Michigan made mistakes that allowed Florida to stay in it. It's typical that Florida fans wouldn't be able to accept a lost gracefully and not try to find a scapegoat.
I'm not a Florida fan, i'm not making escuses, and i'm not meaning to be a dick. Michigan won, they played a hell of a game, but even if you have, say, 600 yards of offense, and only win by 6, it's a close game. The score decides who wings the game, not the yards, time of possession, turnovers, etc. It's that simple to explain. I'm not taking from their victory, but it's rediculous claiming closeness of the game, in every way BUT what decides it.
Closeness is determined by likelihood of victory along with the scoreboard score. I'll provide a couple examples where the scoreboard is deceptive.
1. 2006 Penn State vs Ohio State. OSU won 28-6, but two of those touchdowns were pick sixes in the last two minutes, and another one was a lucky Hail Mary early in the 4th. Penn State led 3-0 at halftime. A false start in the 4th at the 1 yard line negated an easy touchdown. Could have easily been 17-7 Penn State.
2. 1994 Penn State vs Indiana. Penn State led 28-7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, so JoePa pulled some of the starters. Soon the game was 35-14. Later in the 4th, JoePa pulled all the starters and second and third stringers were in. Indiana scored a TD with 1:48 left to make it 35-21. With the backups in, Penn State had to soon punt. Then, the already defeated Hoosiers threw a Hail Mary as time expired, which was caught, then ran in a 2 point conversion to make it as close as possible.
As you can see, despite the 28-6 score, the first game was very winnable for Penn State, and the "blowout" score was a fluke. In the second game, people saw the score and assumed it was a close game, when as you saw, the game was physically unwinnable for the Indiana. That game cost JoePa a national championship in 1994 simply because he refused to run up the score.
The first game was far closer and more winnable for the losing team that the second was.
Wow, some nasty fans. I think that this was one of the better college football games I've seen in a long time. I am glad we won it, but I'm not sure I'd call it a beat down. I thought Michigan fans were intelligent, harvin is sure as hell not at full speed, look at his initial burst and compare, and as i said before harvin had to dodge and hurdle tackles which slowed him down. This happened right before trent got to him, meanwhile trent was running full speed the whole time, so surely he'd catch him.
Harvin had been running a good 6 paces by the time Trent caught him, and he DID run him down from behind. Harvin was already past trent when Trent ran up and tackled him.
ur right about the that, except for that fact that trent was in front of him, not behind, so it was close to the same distance and of course the fact that one was carrying a football and was gassed. I agree trent is quite possibly as fast as harvin in short bursts, if not faster, as evidenced by wat u said about him beating ginn in a footrace. It is also true though that caldwell run's a similar 40 to ginn, maybe a tad bit slower and harvin always beats him in footraces.

The only point at which Morgan Trent is "in front" of Percy Harvin is before Harvin sprints out of the offensive backfield, at which point he's already had an extra second and a half to reach top speed. Not only did Trent have to run further, but he had to accelerate more quickly as well. There's just no argument either way.

Sorry guys, but you hardly "owned" Florida in this game -- it was really quite a fluke if you look at the stats. Florida dominated Michigan from start to finish, but had a lot of bad breaks. If this game were played 10 more times, Florida would easily win all 10 of them. You're just lucky Florida came out flat and that Meyer is a classy guy and didn't mind sending Lloyd out on a high note.

I was at the game...and it wasn't close. Michigan made mistakes that allowed Florida to stay in it. It's typical that Florida fans wouldn't be able to accept a lost gracefully and not try to find a scapegoat.

I'm not a Florida fan, i'm not making escuses, and i'm not meaning to be a dick. Michigan won, they played a hell of a game, but even if you have, say, 600 yards of offense, and only win by 6, it's a close game. The score decides who wings the game, not the yards, time of possession, turnovers, etc. It's that simple to explain. I'm not taking from their victory, but it's rediculous claiming closeness of the game, in every way BUT what decides it.

Closeness is determined by likelihood of victory along with the scoreboard score. I'll provide a couple examples where the scoreboard is deceptive.
1. 2006 Penn State vs Ohio State. OSU won 28-6, but two of those touchdowns were pick sixes in the last two minutes, and another one was a lucky Hail Mary early in the 4th. Penn State led 3-0 at halftime. A false start in the 4th at the 1 yard line negated an easy touchdown. Could have easily been 17-7 Penn State.

2. 1994 Penn State vs Indiana. Penn State led 28-7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, so JoePa pulled some of the starters. Soon the game was 35-14. Later in the 4th, JoePa pulled all the starters and second and third stringers were in. Indiana scored a TD with 1:48 left to make it 35-21. With the backups in, Penn State had to soon punt. Then, the already defeated Hoosiers threw a Hail Mary as time expired, which was caught, then ran in a 2 point conversion to make it as close as possible.

As you can see, despite the 28-6 score, the first game was very winnable for Penn State, and the "blowout" score was a fluke. In the second game, people saw the score and assumed it was a close game, when as you saw, the game was physically unwinnable for the Indiana. That game cost JoePa a national championship in 1994 simply because he refused to run up the score.
The first game was far closer and more winnable for the losing team that the second was.

Wow, some nasty fans. I think that this was one of the better college football games I've seen in a long time. I am glad we won it, but I'm not sure I'd call it a beat down. A well fought game by both teams. I'm still amazed that people keep bringing up the App. State game. And it's only the people who are Florida fans. And don't forget there have been long periods of time when Ohio State couldn't beat Michigan. (That's a wrap up of all the negative comments)

If you watch the game florida's tackles were holding michigan's defensive end's on almost every play because they couldn't handle the rush. Wasn't called at all and there were some pretty obvious ones.

The refs gave Michigan that game. Florida would have won that game easy if the refs would have been fair. But they were ACC refs who have called games in favor of the other team before. It's wrong that they would let them assholes call the Games for Florida.

A word about TO's - esp when they come from Hart: they were not "handed", they were forced. both put UF snaps deep in own end zone = worst Field Position. U can use your def. of "close". but professionals (like the AP & ESPN sports writers) called a 6 pt win taken in the last 5 mins a "CLOSE" game. hopefully you'll beat OSU someday in ANY game.

A game that, given one Ref's whistle or one catch in the last 2 minutes could have gone either way, despite your false assessment. Ur lucky UM won by 6 pts in the last 5 mins or the big 10 would have been 2/6 in Bowls this yr LOL.

Did you see Florida's defense? We had nobody on the field? That game was FAR from domination. I will give Michigan that they kicked the shit out of our Defense, but since our young defense held an expierneced offense enough to keep the game within 6 point difference.

C'mon Jimmy..Gators got pimp slapped by a team that lost to App State! Unranked! The score doesn't reveal that the game wasn't even close. Without Hart's two fumbles the Gators would have been buried. Oh, and Harvin..your best guy was caught by Michigan junior Morgan Trent. Trent ran clear across the field and dragged down your fastest guy while he was running at full speed before he could score. Sorry putz, your Gators got punked AT HOME!!

yea ok, harvin was hurdling people while trent was running full speed, and on top of that he had a great angle, not so hard to catch someone in that situation

I thought Michigan fans were intelligent, harvin is sure as hell not at full speed, look at his initial burst and compare, and as i said before harvin had to dodge and hurdle tackles which slowed him down. This happened right before trent got to him, meanwhile trent was running full speed the whole time, so surely he'd catch him.

Harvin had been running a good 6 paces by the time Trent caught him, and he DID run him down from behind. Harvin was already past trent when Trent ran up and tackled him.

ur right about the that, except for that fact that trent was in front of him, not behind, so it was close to the same distance and of course the fact that one was carrying a football and was gassed. I agree trent is quite possibly as fast as harvin in short bursts, if not faster, as evidenced by wat u said about him beating ginn in a footrace. It is also true though that caldwell run's a similar 40 to ginn, maybe a tad bit slower and harvin always beats him in footraces.

Um, no dude. Watch the replay. The only point at which Morgan Trent is "in front" of Percy Harvin is before Harvin sprints out of the offensive backfield, at which point he's already had an extra second and a half to reach top speed. Not only did Trent have to run further, but he had to accelerate more quickly as well. There's just no argument either way.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove by making this blanket, uninformed statement. I'll give Trent credit for making a great play saving a touchdown, but I'm sorry he's not as fast as Harvin and needed Harvin slowing down plus a great angle to catch him.

Alan branch leon hall lamarr woodley. not to mention the 4 turnovers that the great tim tebow got but couldn't manage to win... 21 points off 4 turnovers and you lose yeah real great. not to mention more than 500 yds of offense.

actually michigan lost 7 starters, while florida lost 9, one of the two that remained from last year's NC team was tony joiner who was the worst player on the defense, in addition michigan replaced their players with more experienced ones than florida, florida was forced to start true freshman and sophomores at most positions

i'm not a fan of michigan or florida (i prefer the SEC), but i'm glad that michigan pulled the offense together and won for lloyd carr. great way for him to finish his career, almost leaves that appalachian state game a distant memory.

Michigan came in being huge underdogs, everyone was writing them off and no one expected what would happen. 41-35 with 3 turnovers inside the Florida 20. They gave Florida the ball 4 times off of turnovers and what did that amazing offense led by "Jesus" himself do? That's what I thought, Good Day Sir.
