  • My parents were partners in a club on the south coast at this time. The Love Affair was booked to play there but only one of the band had actually appeared on the record--Steve Ellis. the singer. They were so hopeless, they closed the curtain on them. The drummer, Maurice Bacon, who was 16 at the time, started crying and bleating "What will my dad say?" Maurice's father was Max Bacon, a character actor at the time.

  • no thats not right. it was recorded first in 1966, a chap in cavan called frankie the tan had a small hit whith this in navan the same year

  • no that's not right it was robert knight who first recorded this song it's written for him by Buzz Cason and Mac Gayden he rocorded it in 1967 love affair followed the next year

  • It was Love Affair who first recorded this song and took it to #1 in Britain in 1968. It has been covered by numerous people since then - Rachel Sweet and Rex Smith got it back in the charts in 1981
