Didn't look exactly like Chinto to me, looks like a different variation of Chinto from other styles, but not Chinto from IsshinRyu. Impressive performance nevertheless! :)
I thought the kata looked okay. This is a kata designed by a kung fu practitioner. But the way it is performed is somewhere in between isshinryu and kung fu. Not quite isshinryu because not in proper order, stance then hand technique. And, not quite kung fu because not quite foot work and hand techniques executed as one. Kinda start stance then near end of transition, execute hands. So I say, in between. Pick one or the other and you definitely will have something better.
I never thought isshinryu could ever be performed in a manner that actually made me want to puke! Im sorry but it looked like that crap they have at all tournements in America. Nothing is sacred any more. Poor IsshinRyu down for the count. Im so sad. Dont get me wrong the kata was ok but it was not designed to be performed in that manner, im sorry but.... sigh...im sad.
Very good implementation, I have study under Master A.J.Advincular who studied under The Master Tatsuo Shimabuku himself for more than 20 yrs. I have been training in the Arts for 41 yrs. myself. I commend you on Chinto. Keep up the good training, Peace and harmony be with you, Sensei Monk.
Osu sensei. Very explosive and impresive chinto kata! On behalf of my shidoshi, legendary Apache Cruz, my kyoshi, Dan ''Dynamo'' Ortiz, myself ku kyu Lu Rivera, and all my dojo brothers, OSU! Salutations keep up the excellent work sensei!
you performed Chinto as if you are competing in an extreme martial arts competition. nice but not traditional Isshinryu. The Isshinryu system is based on snapping punches and kicks. You my friend are over extending your punches and kicks, especially the kicks too much extension. it should be a snap not a thrust. how many kia in the kata?
I have two different executions when performing my kata, based on whether I'm in the dojo or in competition. In the dojo I do kata in the more strict traditional manner and in competition I do kata as a performance; utilizing more speed and enthusiasm. I believe it's important to stand out from the rest. I only thrusted 2 out of the 5 snap kicks and I did not over extend my punches. My instructor taught me to live the kata; not just go through the motions like most karate-ka.
if your throat is sore after a kiai your doing something wrong. lock your cross stances and don't lean back when u front snap kick. no need to look around so much. look before u turn a new direction. you have sharp movements and good techniques. Slow down, find a single rythem for the whole kata.
nice kata mang. ur chinto is way different from ours haha. i see some similarities and patterns buts so cool to see another version. your hand focus and timing in the form is very impressive broduh

What is the point of making that sound on every technique that you didn't kiai on?
setboy1 1 year ago
@setboy1 That "TSSSHH!" noise is my audible breathing so the judges know I'm breathing during the execution of my technique.

@rellimsevens ok. I always wonder why people did that. Do you do it when you are just working out in the dojo?
setboy1 1 year ago
@setboy1 yup : ) It's not always as loud though...just depends how much power you decide to put into your kata.

In addition, I was taught kata were an imaginary fight. That said, would you not ideally kiai on all your powerful techniques in a fight?
