Best characters ever written, just every character was special in The shield, I reccomended this show to everybody, to sad to see a good show go waste.
I wonder what TV Planner genius decided to put The Shield on the Digital Channels ( that nobody watches ) Its a fkn disgrace!! This show should been on Chann 4 ( at least ) The final few episodes were BRILLIANT!!
I dont think so. It was origonally on Channel 5, Ch5 is a main stream channel. No it was just crap programme schedualing as usual. I cant wait for the repeats meself.
I never got into that one there's only so many shows you can watch I followed The Shield as my first choice then 24 and Survivor. I would prolly like The Sopranos I may buy the dvds one day. I also watch Law and Order C I and SVU. That's a lot of t.v.
I think I have seen the show as many times as is humanly possible I have every season on DVD except 6 and 7 I'm trying hard to find 6 and 7 won't be out for at least another 6 months. But they are all posted on OV Guide anyway. You are the only person I think who knows as much detail as I do cuz I know every detail of every fact as I think you do. We may disagree on opinionated terms but fact for fact I think we'd come out equal. Do you think The Shield has a "cult" following yet lol?
I don't know Cassy went to Billings to have Vic arrested for beating up Shane's wife. She was pretty mad at him by the end. She also knew about Lee and was not happy about that. Also I don't think Vic knew about the plot to kill Armidilo that was mostly Shane assisted by Lem. I don't even know if Ronnie was a part of that either. Ronnie was more outside then inside back then I think Vic and Shane were closer to Lem for most of the series. Shane and Lem had problems because of the Money Train...
Cassidy went to Billings to have Vic arrested, but it didn't go far. And the last episode she seemed confused by her mother's lie to him... I think she was over Lee, obviously not completely but enough to have forgiven him.
Vic didn't know anything about Armadillo's murder until Shane and Lem told him (after the fact). Ronnie was innocent of that crime.
Yes, Vic and Shane knew each other longer, but Vic began to rely heavily on Ronnie. But that loyalty was a one-way street, apparently.
Do you have the scene where Vic is kicking the crap out of some guy right after the funeral for Lem and Dutch walks in with a warrant and see Vic enraged and bloody and Vic in desperation says your warrant can cover us too. That's an awesome scene.
In a way Vic has the worst fate of them all. Ronnie may be in jail but he did murder that guy in the hotel room and he did rob the money train and except for Terry he was involved in everything else. So it's not like he's innocent. Vic has to live everyday in that cubicle with no chance of quitting or he loses his immunity. For Vic that's gotta hurt he always said I don't do desks... He lost his wife lost his kids his best friends are dead and in prison pretty much because of him. Poor Vic...
I completely DISAGREE with your first sentence. The man is FREE to go home at the end of EVERY day. He only has a 3 year agreement with ICE, then he's completely free to go on with his life! Ronnie will spend the rest of his life behind bars, fearing for his life.
Vic has the resources to find his kids, and I have NO doubt that he would within a year.
Vic is responsible for a lot more than Ronnie. not just Terry, but Armadillo (the burning & death), Margos, Guardo, etc. He is the REASON the others are dead. Ronnie was just foolish enough to follow him.
By the way, Vic lost his wife a long time ago... and Cassidy loves her dad too much not to find him if he doesn't find her...
The odd thing is that Vic didn't seem to realize how evil he was until the end of the series--and even then, he wouldn't accept it. His role as the pied piper of doom was not made clear to him until it was all too late.
But before he storms off into the dark with his gun, he has that look of realization on his face, like, "Oh my god.... Its ALL my fault..." I kinda thought it was weird that he kept a pic of Lem though. He was just as responsible for Lem's death as Shane. And he didn't have the courage to avenge it. Yet he still felt his relationship with Lem was, in his mind, untarnished.
I recognize you as a fan of The Shield on par that I am..... Are you a fan of the sopranos at all too? The Sopranos was such a brilliant series, every single episode was fascinating, all 82 hours of it. But the last episode fizzled out so bad, it left all of us in an uproar. But The Shield, in my oinion, went out with the bang it deserves.... That look on Chiklis' face after he holsters his gun after losing EVERYTHING that's important to him...worse than death to Vic Mackey.
I've never seen The Sopranos but now knowing how it ends (fade out to black), I hate to get attached to the characters and story and have it end like that!
The Shield definitely ended with a bang. Though, still it frustrates me how Vic got away with it all, yet it still seems fitting. Though worst then death? I don't think so. After a few years. he'll be on his own.
They couldn't get out Season 4 proved that. Lem was totally broken free and was dragged back in by Shane's dealings with Mitchell. If you think about it Shane killed Lem because he was facing prison and was afraid Lem would cut a deal but the only reason Lem was in trouble in the first place was he was trying to save Shane. I think if Vic had killed Shane in 4 it would have been boring after or over for the series. Shane although he was the worst held the show together with both hands.
I don't know if Vic intended to actually kill Guardo or not but Guardo's last words were I'm glad your friend (Lem) is dead and once I heard that I knew Vic was gonna shoot him...
I'm pretty sure he intended to kill him from the beginning, it just depended on how slowly... he was sure he killed Lem, if not himself than he had it done.
Same here, once Guardo spoke those words, you knew Vic couldn't just walk away.
hopkins4545 I believe he wanted to but couldn't risk losing his deal. After he broke the camera and told Cladette to bill him he know Ronnie was in trouble and he yelled to him but it was too late and he knew if he said run or anything like that they would use it to void his deal. They wanted him to pay so bad. I wish it had ended with Ronnie pulling his gun and shooting Vic that would have been justice for Terry and Guardo and even Margos. Ronnie was done anyway he should have killed Vic.
Vic's intent doesn't matter, he didn't even TRY until he knew it was too late... Possibly hearing Shane's last words made him feel even more guilty that he sold Ronnie out.
Hm, I think Ronnie shooting Vic would have been too dramatic, and unrealistic. Too many people with guns to have gotten that far.
Vic screwed Ronnie I kinda feel bad for Ronnie he's going down for things he had no control over. In season 1 they killed Armadilo to save Vic from prison in season 4 they saved Shane from prison but in season 5 they let Lem hang in the wind unprotected and even killed him to save themselves ( granted this was Shane's move alone and cost him dearly in the end.) Then after everything was said and done Ronnie who was very loyal to Vic took the full blow for the team and Vic the most guilty...
Every Strike Team member paid for the mess Vic pulled them into. Had they gotten out or just didn't go along with it, things would have been very different for them!
Ronnie was very loyal to Vic, and we saw what loyalty did for Lem...
Vic was feeling guilty so I think he was probably going to tell Ronnie to run. Not really explain too much, but still warn him in some way... you really can't justify screwing someone like that. Words are pointless.
Vic was warned by the feds that if he told Ronnie to run it would be a violation of his contract and everything he admitted to would be admissible in the court of law. Vic made the conscious decision up until the very end that he would let Ronnie suffer because he wanted to save himself.
Yes, but how would they know he told Ronnie? Ronnie was already thinking of running, unless they proved Vic tipped him off, they couldn't void the contract.
Connect the dots - why would Ronnie run when he knew about Shane's suicide and Mara's death? Why would he run when he accomplished the mission for the feds? Maybe, Vic would get away with it, but in the end, Vic would be risking his immunity for Ronnie - something he was not prepared to do.
Absolutely it would make sense for the Feds to believe Vic warned him but without proof, I doubt they could do anything about it... Maybe Ronnie just wanted a clean break from it all...
Vic should have risked it. Ronnie was so loyal to him, and yet it seemed Vic was more interested in the idea of loyalty (Lem) than the actual trait.
Imagine what Ronnie would do as well. I think Ronnie and most people would try to kill Vic if they were just told how they got screwed over like that Besides, being sent to prison after all the shit they had done was a death sentence, so Ronnie would think I might as well go out taking out the guy that crossed me instead of just accepting it.
I haven't been able to find the promosode; but I did catch part of it & i have a question.
It is when Vic and Shane are watching them dig the grave for Lem; when Shane tells Vic he'll have to be patient to find the guy who did this; Vic says there has been enough time that passed already.
My question is what is Vic holding in his hand?? It is sliver/gold looked like a baby's arm??
Hmm... how come I don't remember (yeah, I'm just thinking to myself) the scene where Vic goes and opens up the casket where dead Lem is resting? What episode was that? Either way, one of the greatest series ever, great characters :)
Hey, thanks a million for you, I would have never found it!! :) Much appreciated :) Anyone can view it on the internet, just Google "Wins and Losses" (YouTube didn't allow a direct link). Damn... Lem was all about taking one for the team already back then. Again, thanks.
Maneiro bacana, gostei muito do video, é uma pena meu ingles estar meio ruim e eu ter um puco de dificuldade pra traduzir algumas frases. Mas tá muito legal
Most likely guilt because of Lem's death, though this only occurred after he couldn't save another guy that he most likely perceived as a good man caught up in a bad situation...
It happened in the episode AFTER he killed Guardo... The short version: Lem ordered books online for his time in prison, they arrived to the barn on this episode, Vic wanted to give them to the ex-gang member, and then he died. So there's more Lem association.
Vic was trying to save a reformed gang member. The man died and Vic saw the blood on his hands. I imagine it was more about the realization he has Lem's blood on his hands than this ex-gang member... but still, it's the straw that broke the camels back. He broke down.
