  • I cannot believe the Mustang vs. Camaro/Trans Am debate on this vid. If its got a V8 and american made, it is probably a pretty quick car. If not, then its not. Tip your cap to power when you see it. No need to keep arguing. Its more about what you like, and not what they have. That being said, I do believe that Mustang owners (and I say this with respect to those that deserve it) has far more of a dousche population than its GM counterparts. But they are there on both sides.

Then I asked myself, why in the fuck is he talking MPG when we should be talking HP/TQ. So its my personal opinion that since you want MPG, that I think that you really are a tuner at heart, but cant escape the raw power of an american V8 lol

I've been into muscle cars since I was a kid and have built a ton of them, never in my life would I want to own a fourbanger lol, mpg is a must now days though and I love the fact that guys are pullin 800 hp and still getting 30 mpg, thats all i'm saying, I've owned a big block chevy car that ran 10's at the track and got about 5 mpg, those days are over. I focus on best bang for buck, mostly SCing 5.0's since they stay civil til u gas it

  • @slayerdawg24 the gt 500 isn't an aftermarket mod car as you call it.i got mine from the factory with 540 hp. ford built plenty of them and still is.the saleen is an aftermarket modified by steve saleen,but you can get a gt 500 at any ford dealer....factory o.e.m...by the way,if ford sucks so bad,why did the gov't have to bail g.m. out?there would be no g.m. without the gov't..so it's goverment motors now..

  • @466scj unfortunately, ford is a much better run company. They have better engineers, and overall, they are just flat out better. I hate saying that, because I am a GM guy.

  • @slayerdawg24 You need to keep your mouth shut. You make me ashamed to be a fellow GM lover. The GT500 is an amazing machine. Granted I would rather buy a C6 vette with the money, but thats my choice. The GT500's biggest problem is traction, and thats it. Something that can make that kind of power is worth tipping your cap to, especially since it probably makes over 400 TQ at 2500RPM. And as far as the saleens go, I dont like what you get for the extra $10k or whatever the package costs.

  • My Pontiac felt like it had a bit more HP=Tq to pull harder but the Ford reved higher sooner I like both. I spent less $ to mod the 350 than the 4.6L I never had a problem with the 350 blowing a head or throwing a rod but its very possible for both to blow up with miss usage of NOS or over boosting them.

  • I have owned both a Mustang & a Pontiac both run their ass off I did research about the why SVT put a S/C on the 4.6L I found out that the 4.6L revs higher than Chevy's 350 but it didn't breath as good in the top end because of intake port design & valve ports restriction which meant it didn't get enough airflow@ higher rpms. The 350 only uses a signal cam. but intake / valve port air flow was greater in the higher rpm too. the ford put out - 20 HP/TQ was good.

In 1995 Pontiac decided to make limited production Trans Am with the WS6 package already installed. In 1996 with the introduction of the Firehawk, Pontiac made more priority on maintaining the Firebird/Trans Ams performance oriented, as they were intended and kept the WS6 package on the Trans Ams. The Firehawk had its suspension done by SLP Performance Ind.

They are rare as fuck, but according to the LS1tech.com forum im on they started in 1978. I dont know how reliable that info is, but its what I have to go on.

  • @hawk92rs Technically WS6 is just a suspension upgrade and they started some time in the 70's. I only know this because my friend has a 2.8L 84 Firebird with the WS6 package that he got out of a 88 bird, and it just consists of bigger sway bars and shit.

Do I really need to share a link to a picture to show you that you are WRONG!! I was in the navy too, and I owned a 1999 WS7 (it was a formula converted to the WS6). Take a look at the vids on here of the WS6's. They all look the same.

    You should Wikipedia your knowledge.  The 1997 GT and 1997 LT1 camaro/firebird both weigh 3300 lbs. And GM not only has about 40 more horse but another gear too. Then compare the 1998. The GT ups the HP to 225 @3300 lbs, while GM base LS1 is 305 @ 3450 lbs. So yeah I'll take 80 more HP for 150 extra lbs. So who is the moron now? Dumbass.

Also, if you dig a little deeper it is found that Ford severely underrated their cars power to keep insurance costs low for the consumer and normally the rwhp was closer to the advertised hp. Chevy, not so much. I have owned a 97 WS6 and now own a 97 Cobra and they do not compare.

Their new 5.0 GT's cost what? 35k fully loaded, and a fully loaded camaro cost 46k, a fully loaded pontiac g8 costs 40k, a fully loaded challenger costs 48k (ish) a BMW M3 cost well over 50k and which one will spank the rest in any kind of race? The cheapest of them all a Mustang GT. And oh BTW it is the best on gas mileage out of all of them... NEXT ARGUMENT!!! Do your research because that blue oval is the best

  • @1997DOHC and because its small, you mustang guys have to make up bullshit ass excuses, well my engine is smaller, of course you won. Well, get a bigger motor then. Its a pretty simple concept. Apparently you cannot understand. Dont get me wrong, the 4.6L has its place, which is in the back behind the LSx powered vehicles, but I am very glad that ford finally decided to step up their game with a N/A motor thats very comparable to the rest of the sports car market.

  • @jwindbigler yep, just as i suspected, you have no idea what you are talking about. Even with the 'small' 4.6L 2valve found in the GT's they still put down against those LS and LT motors. Now throw the 4valve version found in the Cobra's and the fact that mustangs are at least 500lbs lighter than the competition and that is a recipe for Chevy and Dodge destruction. You should compare 1/4mile times from 1997 and up and get back to me.

  • @1997DOHC hate to tell you buddy but i walked all over the new 5.0 mustang. i drive a '93 WS6 LT1 base built to LT4 357 stroker. i left that shit ford at the starting line and guess what!? i only have $1,700 in my whole car! with 94k miles on it.

I once owned a 97 WS6 with an LT1, and stroker kits all by themselves cost more than that, not to mention the supporting parts that you would buy to compliment the stroker. And good job beating the new 5.0's it isn't that hard. That was never what i was trying to say. I was just trying to say that out of the new muscle (within the last 3 years) its the fastest, and cheapest, and as a bonus, gets the best MPG

  • @1997DOHC my car was already built when i got it. buy SVP motorsports in alabama. i traded around for almost 2 years until i ended up with my built WS6 and the car i traded for it, i only gave $1,700 for. ('88 iroc Z28 camaro T-top with 62K original miles.)

  • @airsoftg0d the 305 tpi w/ 5spd in the 3rd gen camaros stock for stock the camaro was winning actually. pushing 230 hp and 300ft/lbs of tor. where the 302 was pushin 215hp and 295 ft/lbs of tor. the camaro was heavier but it was gear just right with a 3.42 rear gear stock where the mustang had a 3.08 rear

Second of all, if the chevy 350 blows up all of the time, then why are there so many trucks out there with a 350 in it and over 200k on the original motor. A buddy of mine has a 1998 1500 thats approaching 300k (i think hes at 293k now), on the original motor. So how can you say that they blow up all of the time? They dont blow up any more than a 302 or a 351. End of story

  • @sergsrt8 It was designed that way for better air flow. I mean 32 valves are way better than 16. But having the big bulky heads on there is a drag. Doesnt leave much room for a long stroke.

Slower than them since the early 90s? haha, they lost money and didn't produce them past 2002 and just restarted them obviously. The 03-04 cobras are faster, the 5.0 is faster, the boss 351 from the 70s beat the c6Z in 1/4mi. k, I own 2 cobras and an ls1 camaro. i like the camaro, but d stangs are faster. I can prove it too

  • @wignigeater I agree about arguing but some of your facts are a bit off. The 96-98 cobra was slow as dog shit stock. They ran upper 13's. It would be a good race for the 97 camaro SS with the LT1 but would get wooped by the 98 SS with the LS1. And there is no possible way in hell that the boss 351 was quicker than a C6 Z06 in the 1/4 mile. What does the boss 351 trap? Because I know the C6 Z06 will trap around 125-128 mph.

The 97 SS did NOT have more HP than the 98 SS...trust me, I have friends that own them. I'm guessing the vid of the 98 cobra is a modded one too racing the SS. I'm talking stock for stock, and mustangs were dogs stock. Look up 1/4 mile times on google for both cars stock and you will see.

Yes, most ls1s are under rated, but then there are some that come out with expected numbers in proportion to their ratings. Oh, and it was a stock 1998 review by MW or C&D. The SS lost fair n square.

  • @wignigeater The guy in the vid with the boss 351 even says it's all modded compared to the stock Z06. If I drove that Z06 it would be in the low 11's. The mustang only ran a 12 something...and they were even slower stock. The Z06's have been known to trap 126 mph in the 1/4 mile...the boss 351 wouldn't even touch that. I have plenty of freinds with mustangs and LS1's. All of them will tell you that a 98 SS is faster than a 98 cobra, hands down.

I'm not hating on ls1's, but they aren't that great, I finished a swap recently and have had an H/C/I LS1 before, it was fast, no doubt, but it is not unbeatable. I mean, c'mon my buddy with a stock 93 5.0 went 8.4 in the 1/8th....he beat 2 cammed LS1's at the track that were hatin' on his square lol

They could have been faster, but they weren't...and lost to a stock 5.0.....yes bolt ls1s will go ~8.4-8.3 w/slicks...but that wasn't the case, sadly for them

For someone that has "owned" a H/C LS1 you sure seem to not know much about them. Your talking to someone that owns a turbocharged LS1 3rd gen TA, has driven fox bodies, vettes, camaros, S197 stangs, etc. I know my shit and what a car "should" run....and no stock boss 351 would EVER be faster than a C6 Z06 unless the driver sucked, end of story.

  • @transamman305 Actually the Foxbody mustangs raped the 90's all the way up until the 03-04 terminator came on board, I've owned alot of mustangs and the 89-93 fox is by far the best platform they have had next to the terminator, so calling it a turd is just showing how clueless you are in the world of street cars and their potential, my newest one is a stock block and head motor w/factory cam and it put down 360hp/360tq to the wheels on 8lbs of boost, I eat camaros for breakfast buddy.

And BTW, LSx motors average 25-28 mpg on the highway with twice the power of yours, so go fuck yourself.

Thats like 50ci bigger than a 302 and my car made 360/360 through a trashed automatic and stock tq converter, since then I've changed it to a fully built AOD and 3200 stall, Makes more hp.

  • @ShhhImKillinU How much is an aftermarket 302 block? Because I paid $800 for my 5.3 that has been proven time and time again to make 700+ HP with a turbo...on the STOCK BOTTOM END. Friend of mine built up a 347 stroker with top of the line ported trick flow heads, big cam, matched intake setup, etc. He made 400 RWHP...thats pathetic. Every 302 based motor I've ever seen has been a complete joke, and I seriously doubt yours is any different.

  • @transamman305 so like a 305? lol thats the weakest shit ever, oil burning pos, better get used to changing out valve guides homie, an aftermarket 302 block is bout the same price, and I highly doubt your car is going to hold together with 700 hp on a stock bottom end, better get a main support system buddy, as for your buddies 347 with heads and cam, 400 hp isn't even close that car should make 450hp easy out of the box, and 302 based motors have churned upwards of 300-1500hp broski, get right.

  • @ShhhImKillinU The 305 uses the same block as the 350 and 400. The 350 is a very reliable motor, so saying a 305 is shit is very ignorant. The 305 has a good block and can be reliable if maintained properly. Also, they can produce good numbers when built. Nothing like a 350 or anything but that's obvious with it lacking 45 cubic inches. Now, I'm all for bashing on Chevy guys when they deserve it, but don't say ignorant shit

  • @blindskater200 I've said it before and I'll say it again, the 305 is a pile of junk, its an oil burning pos, The block itself may very well be strong and buildable but the worthless heads chevy put on them are horrible, trust me I know I've owned two camaros, one was a 305 oil burning piece of crap and the other was a 350 based car that couldn;t find its way out of a paper sack, This is why I went with a 5.0 10 years ago and never looked back, I'll never own another worthless chevy car again.

  • @transamman305 You can't compare a turbo motor vs. an N/A motor. That's just stupid. I've seen twin turbo 5.4L Fords produce 1500 HP and I've seen production N/A motors make around 300. There's a saying, "There's no replacement for displacement", this is wrong. A turbo or a supercharger can completely change the game. Why the hell do you think diesels nowadays are so fast and powerful? BIG ASS TURBO.

Your most recent video, which was posted 11 days ago, was of your car with your turbo piping "mocked up". How can a motor prove itself "time and time again" within the 11 days since you posted the video of your un-finished car and motor set up? I'm not hating. Just want to know if this motor was in another car at some point or what.

  • @blindskater200 My same engine build has been done in more cars than I can count online. Stock bottom end, same heads, same cam, same head studs, and similiar turbo. There are tons of guys that make anywhere from 550 to 700 RWHP with a very similiar build on the stock bottom end. I know probably 5-10 of them who have had the motor going for a few years now, so reliability is not a big issue. It's a 5.3 LSX motor, not an old SBC 305, so it's a good bit stronger.

  • @transamman305 Well I know the 5.3 is not a 305, since a 305 is a 5.0 liter. But anyways, thanks for answering my question. One last thing - you can't really say YOUR motor has proven time and time again to make over 700 HP when you've never run the motor. Instead I would say "similar builds have..." so as to not start confusion as it had with me.

  • @blindskater200 Yea...technically mine hasn't yet. But it's a 36K mile engine and I have no doubt it's a strong runner since it currently runs. Just have to button up a few odds and ends and then it's tune time. It should put the hurting on almost any 5.0 I run into...

  • @transamman305 If ya gonna argue atleast know the numbers. People are mentioning 97ss which was avaiable in 2 versions. One being the LT4 which was rated at 330hp, LT1 were rated at 305hp with the optional slp exhaust 305 hp. Leaving factory freaks aside HP numbers were the same as the LS1. I have no reason to BS as I have owned a 94 Z28 and an 02 SS. My SS was 345hp stock with the SLP options and I couldn't touch an 03 Cobra but wiped the floor with every other Mustang on the road.

The c5 ZO6 has a LS6 an upgraded ls1 with GM division cam, heads, exhaust and valves from the factory making 405 horses still a 5.7. You can upgrade every one of those parts aftermarket and get even more power.

  • Yeah that's definitely a Termi bumper. I have friends with both and the 01 has a slight curve and looks higher. The Termi's got a 'lower' profile with a thin chin spoiler. And jwingbigler is right, I love both GM's and Ford's it's a shame some are trying to bust nuts like fanboys. But maybe that's just me... since the majority of ppl around here have turned to hondas/toyotas

What I hate about MOST not all honda guys, is that they run their mouths once they get a turbo, or swap a motor to gain a whopping 30HP (give or take depending on platform and what engine is swapped in there). So its not so much that I hate the cars, as I dislike the punks driving them. Thats all. And any V8 owner will tell you that more power is always needed lol

  • @jpbelyea Never faster in the quarter? You must be mistaking. The Cobra is very comparable to an SS or a WS6. The cobra has 320HP at 3430lbs, while the WS6 has 340HP at 3440lbs. So it has 20HP more with 10 extra lbs.  And it is a 6speed vice the 5 speeds that came in all cobras until 03-04 where the supercharged cobra came with a similar T56 as the WS6/SS did in 2002. So they are so close that it really depends on who drives it, not so much with the car itself. So, YOU ARE WRONG!!

  • @Tyler8994 and u clearly didn't understand my post that is stock vs stock if ur gunna add what ifs then lets play sure ill give the a supercharger but to compensate for the displacment the cobra is now gunna need to be stroked out to 5.7. the numbers really do change and i believe after that u won't even be able to touch a cobra with a supercharged z28. cobra already has a good 80 to 90 hp just stock for stock. But stock for stock the cobra 03 04 was made not to lose to the z28/ss

  • @jwindbigler GM also consistently has had larger displacement engines than the fords, hell fords largest engine in the sports cars is 5.4L...GM's is 7L...cmon mate, fords 5.0 makes the same power as an LS3 engine, the 5.4L s/c makes the same power as the LS7(?) and fords GT43 is on par with the ZR1 which uses an LS9 6.2L S/C 638hp motor...both do 0-60 in 3.3 seconds 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds, Ford and GM both win IMO dodge is meh, and ricers can eat a D lol
