@crapstacker5 I don't think it's possible in Logic express but software must be capable of it - hence the new stereo positions on the Beatles Yellow Submarine Songtrack & the Love album etc...
I am new to audio editing. I recently downloaded some ITune music. The music has a lot of profanity. If it is legal, I would like to know, can this application allow me to edit out the profanity, do loops, and combine one song with another?
@rdw3ut Logic Express is fine for editing music from iTunes. I edited out a swear word in a song, and posted the results on this channel. It's called The Joys Of Mac - More Music editing in Logic express.
@rdw3ut Itd be a huge waste money-wise to buy Logic just to edit profanity. Logic is centered around being a music CREATION suite-- editing is a feature as a result of being. If youre looking to just edit, all you need is something like Audacity and you can paste another sound over the bad word(s) and export it back to mp3
@maikerock I think I got that for free when I browsing around the Adium site. I have just looked around my system and can't find a saved copy of it, but if I do.I'll let you have it. :)
Does anyone know if you install Mac OS X on your PC if it then allows you to use logis Pro (or any other current logics) on your PC without having a Mac???
Google Hackintosh! However these machines are vulnerable if Mac OS decides to update itself. Best to save for a Mac. Logic is Mac OS only so there is no way to get around having Mac OsX on your system if you want to use it. You can installl Windows on a Mac as a dual boot if you have other essential Windows only programs on your PC that you would be without otherwise.
@AndrewLeeFinnigan This is true. Save for a Mac to do recordings because they works better. I don't know why and someone at Guitar Center explained it to me, but it has something to do with the processor I believe. Anyways, it went over my head. All I know is I have latency problems on my laptop though not on my PC at home in the USA. Logic will only work on Mac though Protools will work on both. And Logic is way simpler to use than Protools. You don't have to do internal routing like Protools.
@AndrewLeeFinnigan Dont go the Hackintosh route man, just buy a Mac. Not only are those hackintosh jobs a pain in the butt but like others say--they are vulnerable. Part of it is because your hardware isnt integrated for a Mac OS. Lets not forget..hackinoshes are cheesy. One of the best parts of owning a Mac is that its yours; you bought it, its legit. With that said...even Garageband's capabilities alone are worth the price of a new Mac. Its easy to use and VERY powerful in the right hands.
@ShivaTheAuspicious yeah am saving up for a macbook pro you're right. Cant wait to get my hands on the latest logic! I'm still using the Logic 5 on PC. haha Definately time to upgrade lol
@AndrewLeeFinnigan Oh shit I remember Logic 5. I was like 15 or 16 frantically trying to get a crack for the platinum version. But hey man, if you're recording I'd probably stay away from laptops, simply because you'll need the screen real estate and because the desktop versions tend to be more powerful for the money.
You need to to check out some of the songs I have posted on here. For instance "Breathing" and "The Painter". Those were recorded in Logic. You will have to make a judgement on how good my voice sounds though. But don't judge Logic by that alone!
@yunggrizzo You can record vocals on Logic and it sound about the same as any digital program. It always helps to use a condenser mic with a good preamp. I would use tube because it brings back some warmth in the digital realm. I know some engineers that will still only record vocals on tape or at least would prefer it because they swear that digital vocals are not as warm.
@fatcatbuzz The difference between using tube mics/non tube isnt the same debate as the difference between tube guitar amps/solid state. When talking about mics, some people prefer clean and present (non tube) or they want something colored and warm sounding (tube). Personally, with one or two exceptions I almost always go for non tube mics because I like having ultimate clarity and control over tone. Your music is going OUT to digital anyways so why bother unless you cut to vinyl?
It is just a case of playing about with it Stefan, until you get the result you want! I am not really great at all1 But thanks for the complement anyway!
Well I have to say I never tried to edit really like you showed in the video just in a song when it goes from the verse to the chorus but only when there is a break between :P I think I have to try it :)
How does this work on a mac? Please, answer in less than a day, this is for a dance I'm doing tomorrow and I need the music to make choreography...

@MrsKitty59 Not sure what you mean. I am using a mac.

Should I go for Logic or Pro Tools? Pro Tools is industry standard so I'd assume it's better?
asosuk 5 months ago
can you use it to make bits of songs longer ????
XxDaRK12KiLLeR 5 months ago
@XxDaRK12KiLLeR If you copy/paste sections, yes. The cross fade tool is very useful here.

Is it possible to break it down into individual instruments so that certain instruments could be removed from the song all together?

@MarkPMus Thanks for the help. I am going to purchase Logic Express based on the video you made.

@rdw3ut NO probs, but be aware that Logic is a program for recording music too, so much of its features are geared towards that.
