I didn't know the dog was voiced as an african-american it sounds very nice! I only watched this show in italian (in Italy as a kid) and the dog was voiced by a roman actor who gave him accent and manners of a guy from Naples! And that alone was worth the show.. The rest was also fine (Jack Scalia had Tom Cruise's italian voice) but the dog from Naples was unforgettable. I like his afro version too!
