The AI cheats a lot. The Big Rig is the most dangerous opponent of this race. I highly recommend the rally car for Devil's Crossing. With the right choice of line you can win with ease. I recorded a second race with a better racing line a couple of days ago. You can find it in my MotorStorm playlist.
2nd try: I turned the brightness + contrast on my tv to maximum and could actually see! I almost won, but a mud plugger went through the shortcut in the end (how the hell??) and beat me by .16
3rd try: Won.
Then on the last 1v1 race I couldn't see half the race even with max brightness and contrast.. wtf :S
But anyhow, thank you for your vid, I can rest easy now with Motorstorm completed.
Lets just hope Motorstorm 2 will have intelligent AI, not dumb cheating AI.
It is not that hard if you try the upper route like I did. I know that the mud route is faster but slow racing is part of my success in this race: Most of the AI go through the mud. They overtake you, slow down and when you accelerate to the iron bridge, they have to take the long way out of the mud. The AI does not use the ramp so the left route is a good choice. Don't push boost too hard in this passage - it makes the AI faster, too, and takes a bit of the described advantage.
I take the upper route like you did. But somehow i always crash, and i either crash at the end, or the Big Rig push me into a wall. My best now is 2nd place, 0.40 sec after the one who got first.
Ok... not to crash is sort of important if you want to race in leading position what I highly recommend because the AI is so weird. Maybe some Time Attack will give you the safety to deal with the 4-lapper with ease?
To avoid the Big Rig I recommend to save some boost and use it as soon as you are in danger. The upper route does not have to be taken with maximum boost, for example. I think a good strategy is more a key to success than extremely skillful driving.
And, can you please tell me what the reward is? I got gold on all races on the first and second ticket. Just gave me 4 new colours on 4 different vehicles.
There is another race unlocked after winning the 4-lapper. It is by far easier and you will get the Humbler Diablo as reward if you win it, too. The Humbler Diablo is that dark Buggy, looking like the Batmobile and having a decent sound. I took several videos with it you can find here on YouTube. It is not the best Buggy on all tracks but it looks and sounds decent :).
Performance is the same but the handling differs a bit. The Humbler Diablo is very flat and wide which makes it a good choice on hard and not too narrow underground like Dust Devil. It is harder to control on Tenderizer or Sidewinder Gulch. But those who can show it in online races make a statement: "I won one of the hardest races in MotorStorm" :).
Overall the best Buggy choice will be the Wombat Typhoon due to its stable handling but it is not nearly as cool-looking as the "Batmobile" :).

Devil's Crossing is the money worth. It is the most challenging track of them all and not so short as Coyote Revenge. You have different routes to choose from and it can be driven fast with Rally Car or Big Rig. Downside: It is played online rarely over here on the EU servers.
Thursday two more tracks are expected to be released. Have a look at threespeech for more info if you like.
Since the new release of Eagle's Nest and Diamond Back Speedway ... and the fact that they can only be played online ... I've found that the 4 new tracks are all being played a lot more online. It's really good now, MotorStorm is the best!

the only thing to do it in is a rally car i think. follow aprlcum's route and you'll get it eventually. Cheers btw

I can't believe you even almost lapped a car :O
What makes this map so god damned difficult is 2 things:
1. The catch up AI which makes those bridges deathtraps no matter if you were in the lead or not.
2. There is always a car (mostly a buggy) taking the shorter way in the end, which is supposed to be hard even for motorbikes and quadbikes..
I only ever managed 2nd, but thanks to your video I'm going to give it another try later.
