This is definitely Shirley Ellis' original recording with the exception of the modern percussion added at the beginning of it. I know what I'm talking about..........I still have the original 45! When I was a kid, I drove my parents crazy playing it and bouncing around the house, singing it! They even performed to this, this season on Dancing With The Stars. I was Very Cool!
That may be Juanita More performing his drag routine but it is definitely the incomparable Shirley Ellis and her group doing the singing.
