In Carolyn Jessop's book "Escape," she had access to the internet at the time Jeffs banned it. And you as a mother must make sure your male kids are able to support a whole family as early as possible. Regular school retards the age at which this is accomplished. If your son is an expert carpenter, without vices, at 20, he could get married. Age difference between man and woman is GOOD, generally, because of the maturity of the man, and because women age faster. At 45, women can't have children while men can do it at 70. A 15 y.o. girl is a lady, a 15 y.o. boy is still a kid.
An ideal situation is when the girl takes care of the kids, and works at home, and the guy provides for the family. A guy, at marriage, should be able to do this. Guys accomplish this ability around 24, 26, etc, after getting out of college, or finishing paying their house, I don't know. But if you make a girl wait until she is 24 to marry she will not be a virgin at marriage, which is a tragedy. Its better to let 17 year old girls marry guys who are already mature and able to support them.

There are more males than females in the world, the only time that women outnumber men is when women outlive the men. So old women are the only ones polygamists should marry after the first wife. I agree with you to a certain point. WACO and Ruby Ridge are two examples of government run amuck. I have raised my children in the ways that I believe. I also agree with you that Social Services is out of control. If a crime has been committed, let the police investigate. IMHO Social Services is the new SS, much like Nazi Germany. I am not for using violence against Mormons or any other religious group. Every citizen in America has basic rights, even teenage girls. I have a friend who is Islamic. They do not date, which totally freaked me out. Eventually, she did get married, but she was in her early thirties when she did. She had to meet with prospective husbands but ultimately could say yes or no. I dated in my teens and married at 21. It was my choice too. Women have a right to choose their destiny in this country.
My concerns with Social Services are that they can take children away from anyone without giving a reason as to why. A social worker can have too much power and can abuse it. The SS does not have to abide by the laws that law enforcement and our courts do. EVERYONE, regardless of religious persuasion, needs to be concerned about that.
My children are my children, but I don't have the right to do anything to them that I just happened to feel like doing. I don't believe in polygamy, never will, but I believe consenting adults should have the right to choose. Children and teens are a gift and responsibility. Even Owen Allred has a daughter who choses not to live polygamy.
Well, if you kiss anybody who you date, before marriage, in my view you are behaving like a harlot. If you date, and you don't kiss, or have sex, before marriage, your kind of dating is ok, but its very dangerous. In the Bible, women are UNDER authority, first of their parents, and then authority is transferred to the husbands. This is NEW TESTAMENT. If I am not free to practise the NT in America, then I don't know where to go. Women and men being EQUAL is not true, Biologically,psychologically.
Women and men are different, but we are equal in God's eyes. As for dating, our church has youth activities at least once a week so the teens can interact.
We are certainly equal in God's eyes. But we have different roles. A woman obeys the husband, the husband protects the woman (to the point of giving his life, if necessary, for her). Its like Christ and the church. The church is the wife, and MUST obey the husband, for her sake. And the husband has given his life for us, and will take us to his home. For girls, you must encourage their union (before they lose their virginity) to someone mature enough (older, generally). Guys must learn to WORK.
I don't agree that a woman should obey her husband if he's trying to lead her into sin and destruction, especially if there are children to take care of. I had an obligation to my husband to let him know his lifestyle was harmful to himself but even more so to his family. If I hadn't spoken up, I would've been sending him the message that it was okay for him to continue like that.
It's hard to blame you for leaving your husband. One problem I see in the way you chose him is that probably you fell in love first, you chose him, you took him home, your parents agreed. I rather a man talk to the father (or mother if father is not available), and WHEN the father approves the man, then the guy can hang out with the daughter, if she agrees, also. Father approves FIRST, then daughter. Not the other way around, daughter falls in love, parents approve AFTER that has happenned.
And I don't blame my dad for anything. I had a wonderful father. He raised us all to work hard, to never miss a day of church, to help others, to live what we claimed to believe, too many things to list. I had hoped I would have a husband like him, but it didn't work out that way. I have faith that God still has a plan for me - with or without, though probably without - and I will be happy in that plan. Blessings to you and your family.

I think we have different definitions of "Christian." I define a Christian as someone who has accepted Christ as his/her personal savior. A Christian does his/her very best to live the Commandments. You should think about finishing highschool and going to college. being a virgin on your wedding day isn't a great accomplishment. And you as a mother must make sure your male kids are able to support a whole family as early as possible. Regular school retards the age at which this is accomplished. If your son is an expert carpenter, without vices, at 20, he could get married. Age difference between man and woman is GOOD, generally, because of the maturity of the man, and because women age faster. At 45, women can't have children while men can do it at 70. A 15 y.o. girl is a lady, a 15 y.o. boy is still a kid.

An ideal situation is when the girl takes care of the kids, and works at home, and the guy provides for the family. A guy, at marriage, should be able to do this. Guys accomplish this ability around 24, 26, etc, after getting out of college, or finishing paying their house, I don't know. But if you make a girl wait until she is 24 to marry she will not be a virgin at marriage, which is a tragedy. Its better to let 17 year old girls marry guys who are already mature and able to support them.

YOu see, if I give my daughter away in marriage, a VIRGIN, when she is 16, to a doctor, or a hard working guy who is 30, it should work out, because the guy is mature and my daughter also likes him, and he has financial stability, doesn't do drugs, smoke, anything. If it doesn't work (I beat the guy up), which I doubt, well, my daughter is no longer a virgin. I MESS UP. BUT in public school, almost all girls lose virginity to guys who just want to F them.

Think about your statement logically. A girl of 16 should marry a doctor of 30? What would they possibly have in common? what would they talk about? Sounds interesting, indeed, and In no wise do I think I am saved because I perfectly obey the Bible. If God wills, I am saved only because of his mercy, only because He has compassion on me. I can't be perfect. Yet, we are told to be perfect. We try, and it is better to get an A- than a D.... But I believe that if I am saved, it is only for the mercy of God, through the redeeming blood of his Son Jesus Christ, because I don't measure up to the required Holyness.

Also, under God's law, a person is the owner of his kids. A person can marry their daughters off to whoever he sees fit, If it does not work out good, it is the person's problem, and God will judge him if he does not take good care of the children God gave him. But it is his child, it is his right to decide. Now, sometimes things don't work out good, but in public education, they basically almost NEVER work out good but none is trying to bring public school authoritites to trial for messing up.

yes, and monogamy is the most honorable form of marriage. The Bible does not command polygamy. All I am saying is that it is not forbidden, nor adultery, as people think. This is a true statement. A man can have two wives without breaking any biblical law. The main reason to not have two wives is because it is illegal, and also because you can't be a bishop. It is not forbidden, that is all I am saying.

You can see it, all over the Bible, godly men were polygamists, and tell me, where does God call them adulterers? Now, I don't think polygamy is the best way (not at all). I am just saying that it is not forbidden, and if you are zealous for truth (read your whole Bible, go ahead), seek it.

Polygamy is not adultery, as is commonly believed among the bible-deprived people. (most people). Adultery is, if you are a man, when you take another man's woman (who belongs to a man other than you). If you are a woman, adultery is to sleep with anybody besides your husband. Jesus made it even stricter: if a man abandons his wife and remarries, he commits adultery (matthew 5:32), and she commits adultery if she remarries. Instead, Jacob, with 4 wives, didn't commit adultery.

@redskies49 Also, let me make clear that although polygamy is not forbidden by the Bible, it is in fact discouraged, and forbidden for church leaders. Also, mormons are not Christians, and I would definitely not guarantee that they are going to heaven. Only those people who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for forgiveness of sins, are going to heaven. Jesus will judge all. We must read His word, and apply ourselves to obeying Him.

I disagree with the mormons (the book of mormon is a complete lie, a fantasy without any proof for its claims), but I am not going to do them physical harm, nor take their children. Police officers should disobey ordinances making them violate the constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion. NONE but the parents have the right to decide what religion those kids learn. If I disagree (like I do) I PREACH to them. That is how we do it, among civilized people.Why not take kids of porn actors?

There are more males than females in the world, the only time that women outnumber men is when women outlive the men. So old women are the only ones polygamists should marry after the first wife. Other wise, a few men get all the young wives and many get none at all. the extra men, many of them resort to risky behaviors. After a while the population is left with the dilemma of what to do with all the left over men. That is why it is illegal it is detrimental to society.

everyone should be free to choose the lifestyle that they think is better, and to teach their kids in the way they think is better. None has the right to FORCE others, or other people's kids, to submit to their lifestyle. This is what the government is doing, enforcing religion, which is illegal, and anticonstitutional. I disagree with homosexuality, but I don't have the right to put them in jail and steal their kids. What we all have the right to do is to PREACH, to SAY what we think is right.

Preach to them, if you disagree, but don't put on a uniform and attack them, kill them (like in the case of waco). The government does not have the right to take the children of these people. I agree with you to a certain point. WACO and Ruby Ridge are two examples of government run amuck. I have raised my children in the ways that I believe. However, they are human beings with free will, which God gave man. There is a point at which, I can no longer make choices for them. You and I will have to agree to disagree on arranged marriages. In America, we have separation of church and state. However, separation doesn't give religions carte blanche to do as they please to underage girls.

I also agree with you that Social Services is out of control. If a crime has been committed, let the police investigate. IMHO Social Services is the new SS, much like Nazi Germany. A citizen is not afforded due process under the law with SS. They are allowed to face their accusers and don't have a right to see said evidence unless the case goes to court. That is about as unconstitutional as it gets. I think there are things you and I agree on - the Ten Commandments and the Right to Free Speech.

The thing, Kraftymomma, is that when you start demanding punishment for mormon arranged marriages, Social Services, Child Protective Services, are the solutions that they give to you. I am not for using violence against Mormons or any other religious group. Every citizen in America has basic rights, even teenage girls. I have a friend who is Islamic. They do not date, which totally freaked me out. Eventually, she did get married, but she was in her early thirties when she did. She had to meet with prospective husbands but ultimately could say yes or no. I dated in my teens and married at 21. It was my choice too. Women have a right to choose their destiny in this country.

My concerns with Social Services are that they can take children away from anyone without giving a reason as to why. A social worker can have too much power and can abuse it. The SS does not have to abide by the laws that law enforcement and our courts do. EVERYONE, regardless of religious persuasion, needs to be concerned about that.

I am not allowed to kill one for dishonoring the family or lock one in the garage for a week. We live in a civilized nation where kids are people too. We are certainly equal in God's eyes. But we have different roles. A woman obeys the husband, the husband protects the woman (to the point of giving his life, if necessary, for her). Its like Christ and the church. The church is the wife, and MUST obey the husband, for her sake. And the husband has given his life for us, and will take us to his home. For girls, you must encourage their union (before they lose their virginity) to someone mature enough (older, generally). Guys must learn to WORK.

I don't agree that a woman should obey her husband if he's trying to lead her into sin and destruction, especially if there are children to take care of. I had an obligation to my husband to let him know his lifestyle was harmful to himself but even more so to his family. If I hadn't spoken up, I would've been sending him the message that it was okay for him to continue like that.

It's hard to blame you for leaving your husband. One problem I see in the way you chose him is that probably you fell in love first, you chose him, you took him home, your parents agreed. I rather a man talk to the father (or mother if father is not available), and WHEN the father approves the man, then the guy can hang out with the daughter, if she agrees, also. Father approves FIRST, then daughter. Not the other way around, daughter falls in love, parents approve AFTER that has happenned.

If you think women should NOT obey their husbands, you are NOT a christian. Women are to obey their husbands, when they are given by the father, to the husband. A good father will not give his daughter to someone she doesn't like, nor to someone she likes but he finds to be not a good choice. I think we have different definitions of "Christian." I define a Christian as someone who has accepted Christ as his/her personal savior. A Christian does his/her very best to live the Commandments. None of us are perfect; we all sin at some point. If I had obeyed my husband, I would've ended up an addict like him. I had to make a living and raise the kids. I believe God will reward, not punish, me for that. We are all responsible for our own salvation.
