Many times the decision to stop short on a red would have much worse effect's then going through a yellow/red. @hagenar...according to some states (most states?) all a yellow light is defined as is as a indicator that a red light is coming up...it is perfectly legal to enter a intersection on a yellow light. That being said, SPEEDING is always illegal. But the incident at 1:00 was not a speeding situation. As for the guy turning, he should have waited until after the red and proceeded when safe...all vehicles sitting in a intersection when a light *is red* have right of way.
0:59 I got hit like that by a dude chasing to catch the red light whilst I had the green to turn, the funny thing was, all the traffic stopped but he changed lanes to avoid the traffic that stopped and sped up maliciously. Unfortunately he hit me so hard my car flipped on it's side. I was in hospital for a while and the guy lost his license for a long ass time and got jail time because he was under the influence of alcohol. I would have been dead if i took out my motorbike that day.
I dont think these people were maliciously running red lights. It seems like most weren't aware, which is no excuse, but to make it seem like to imply these people purposely ran red lights, is a bit misleading.

This is why passing a depth perception test should be mandatory for getting a drivers license. While the people running reds are definitely at fault, there were at least 30% of those accidents in the videos that could have been prevented if the "innocent" party was paying attention at the car going 50 mph at them and waiting to see if they will stop or not. They need to become active drivers instead of passive ones.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter who is at fault when death occurs.
I once watched a guy pull out directly in front of a speeding ambulance, lights flashing. Ambulance plowed into the side of his car and came to rest in the middle of the intersection. The light his way had just turned green, but LOOK WHERE THE HECK YOU'RE GOING.

The one at 0.52 happens all the time even when the light is green. Thats just a dangerous intersection to make a left turn at, because the cement median forces cars so far over, that when your trying to make a left turn, if a car on the otherside is also trying to make a left, their car blocks your view.
The crash at 1:00 is a particularly common and deadly one. The white SUV is trying to beat the light while the vehicle turning left is beginning to complete his left turn before the light turns red. Usually the one trying to beat the light has already sped up significantly when he sees the yellow. (I call them LEAD FOOT YELLOWS)
0:25 is the stupidest one of all, not only one but 2 people went through the red light, and on top of that, the person turning should've been paying more attention. You need to be aware of your surroundings wether you have a green light or not, did they not notice the TWO cars that had driven through the red light?
Lesson learned: always assume someone is going to run the red light, and don't go through until you've verified that anyone in a position to hit you has started slowing down.
It doesn't matter that you have the right of way, you still have a responsibility to be on the lookout for red light runners. In the immortal words of my mom, "It doesn't matter who was right or wrong when you're dead".

NJ traffic law favors aggressive drivers who know how to lie. All the lawyers and judges care about is making the money. If you even move 1 inch toward the middle of the intersection when waiting to make a left turn, it is your fault even if you're still on your side of the road. The aggressive driver gets the benefit of the doubt, even though they might be travelling at ten times your speed.
Red-light runners should lose their license for 10 years + get a $50,000 fine. It doesn't matter if it's careless driving or intentional stupidity, we don't need drivers like this on any road!

Over the last couple of years, I have noticed an increase in the number of times I've seen people run red lights, so this doesn't surprise me. The other thing that ticks me off is not using turn signals. I can't say how many close calls I've had because someone was so self-absorbed that they didn't feel they owed me or anyone else in the world the simple courtesy of flicking the turn signal on before pulling in front of me.
This is crazy! I never realized it was that bad...the Linden NJ, Jan 4 2011 crash (`the 1minute in); It looks like the white SUV is racing against the yellow? So aggressive...no excuse. Just as bad as running a red.
Linden was the corner of St. George Ave & Stiles Street. Notorious for being dangerous. I might drive out of my way slightly to avoid this area but it isn't because of the camera. The intersection is downright dangerous at the best of times.

@classikz There are Red-Light running videos from every state in the union. Please, like NYC drivers don't suck ass too ? 45 in the left lane, no blinkers, cut off someone at the drop of a hat then give you the finger like it isn't their fault. Every state has Douchbags. This just happens to be our NJ DBags...

@classikz so youre going to judge New Jersey drivers just on these videos? nice. i feel real happy knowing that someone who rides bikes around NYC, a place of horrible traffic & more car troubles, thinks that the state next to them sucks at driving. i go to New York all the time, & ive seen FAR worse drivers than what we see on this video.

Over the last couple of years, I have noticed an increase in the number of times I've seen people run red lights, so this doesn't surprise me. The other thing that ticks me off is not using turn signals. I can't say how many close calls I've had because someone was so self-absorbed that they didn't feel they owed me or anyone else in the world the simple courtesy of flicking the turn signal on before pulling in front of me.

This is crazy! I never realized it was that bad...the Linden NJ, Jan 4 2011 crash (`the 1minute in); It looks like the white SUV is racing against the yellow? So aggressive...no excuse. Just as bad as running a red.

Linden was the corner of St. George Ave & Stiles Street. Notorious for being dangerous. I might drive out of my way slightly to avoid this area but it isn't because of the camera. The intersection is downright dangerous at the best of times.
