  • y u speak so slow?

  • Do public forum debate. I think youd like it better

  • Wait, do you really have a poster of GWB on your wall?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA

  • wow dude you are way to slow

  • @TheCarta1994

Only novices think that spreading is a necessary component of good debating. I go as fast as I need to in order to fit the speech into the allotted time. I'm not the 1A, so I don't usually read speeches like this anyway, and it fits into eight minutes without having to spread. AND the evidence was powerful enough to win over 80% of my aff rounds. Why use speed and get it in in four minutes when you can read more comprehensibly and still within the allotted time?

  • it sucks

  • Yeah i was going to go into the debating society but someone talked me out of it

  • @OweGod Oh , wow . It's only the most rewarding thing you can do with your high school career , legit !

  • there is no way you get first in speaks dude, unless you're in like Alaska or something, i mean fuck dude.

  • @briangonzaba

hahah I'm reading something for YouTube here...you've never seen me in an actual debate.

  • dude you shuld like make a video on how to flow

  • Your A novice?

    Good job if you are

I'm a varsity and it looks like your off to a good start

You should post more vids of the 09-10 topic.

  • So how did you do at your state tournament

  • ha.... I swore I thought u were gonna do rapidfire.... I'm not really a fan of spreading/rapidfire but you need to speed up a bit D:

  • No, I don't. If I can read a substantive, persuasive case within eight minutes while reading at a relatively slow pace, then there is no reason to do rapidfire.

  • then get spread out by the 1NC?

    YEAHHHH!!!1!111shift1one!!111!1!1

  • now you just have to convince the environmentalists. good luck.

  • INCLUDE the AntiWar Movement/Alternative Green Energy Movement/ Anti nuclear proliferation

  • liberalism in general...

  • Regardless of the labeling...there has been more dissent now than in anytime of human history and it continues to grow.....get used to it.

  • im used to it. nothing wrong with a little healthy dissent now and then, right?

  • I don't want to sound rude, but that wasn't as fast as I had anticipated.

  • Not rude at all. People not familiar with policy think that I am speaking very fast, when in fact I am relatively slow.

  • Yeah. I was gonna say. I'm in public forum and I generally speak faster than that. Haha.

  • Learn to ENUNCIATE. You stumble over every other word.

  • I can enunciate when I want. I'm not the first speaker. I wrote this case, I don't read it in the actual debate. I take the most speakerpoints in most of my debates, I'm a much better speaker than this video would let on.

  • o watever alim gosh

yur a senior, im a sophmore

if we were seniors we'd take you down

  • jean and devane shut up let the guy do his thing. me and youssouf can take you guys out.

  • well my partner and I, Jfcamacho, have placed first at every local tournament that we've debated in and we have also qualified for NFL nationals defeating this nuclear in the final round of the qualifiers...oh yea did i mention that my partner got first speaker in the state championship and that i have won first speaker at multiple tournaments this year. We are both two year debaters going varsity.

  • 1. i like his hair cut

2.unless your in policy debate you have no clue what your talking about so shut your face

    3. sorry but the nuc case sucks ass

it's all about fusion nd wind power :DDD

nuc is so easy to win kid

  • Nuke has actually worked very, very well here. Although I've seen a million evidence packages online using Gen 4 reactors, no one (even at the State varsity level) seems to have heard of it. The strategy is to run this, casually mention that you incentivize Gen 4 reactors. When the neg runs their nuke DAs, just get up and break all their links by saying that they refer to Gen 2 reactors and we use Gen 4. It's worked 80% of the time.

  • The case is very wea in many aspects including T, K, CP, and solvency.

Obviously nuke is totally unT i mean even the framers of the resolution banned the use of nuclear energy as aff yet teams run it. So if u hav a framer as a judge and u run T-AE not Nuke ull probably win

and don't even get me started on K or CP or case

even Gen 4 don't solve, Gen 4 are 10 years from full perpetual solvency for readiation and meltdowns

I mean they still emit enough radiation to give cancer

  • Well, I'll just say that we've placed first or second in all but one of our local debate tournaments, and fourth in the state tournament with this case. Judges are supposed to go into the room tabula rosa.

  • What is your answer to the Russian Nuclear Waste CP?

And I recommend you guys add at least one more card for inherency and some more impact evidence for your Advs.

GW doesn't have a clear impact

And as previously talked about, the topicality that says you violate the resolution because according to the U.S. legal code nuclear isn't alternative can get a lot of crappy (including College and Coach) judges that don't fully understand standards. - Just make sure you have topicality blocked :)

  • ur plan is to use nuclear evergy but what would happen if the plants leaks out like in russia

  • you dont even read fast at all!!! yure a whack 1ac

  • I know I don't read fast. That annotation is written to some of the people unfamiliar with policy who constantly tell me to slow down. This is a moderately slow speed.

  • Well, he is at about the age when a man's voice starts getting deeper. I've noticed it too.

  • wow I watched some of your old video and there is a big difference in your voice it kind of surpirses me how much it can change in two years

  • uhhh...well...i dont want to surprise u or make u feel bad...but...I thought that is really slow compared to most policy debaters.....

  • Don't worry, I'm totally aware of that. It's just that most people commenting here think that I'm speaking incredibly fast. Most people I debate speak at 10x this speed.

  • Fuck Bush!

    ad hom:

what's with the stupid haircut? wanna keep this forever or wanna ever actually start meeting girls?

  • The stupid haircut is the only haircut possible. Second, if you had even done a cursory view of a few comment sections, you would know that I am an aromantic asexual.

  • so don't go fuck yourself but...go read some Nietzsche or John Harvey Kellogg or something.

  • global warming!!!

    haha!!!

i bet when the you run up against the ice age da you piss in ur pants

  • Slow. Lacks passion. May be you're just doing it that way because you're not in round. Anyways, put your plan into planks. And nuclear is untopical as defined by the U.S. legal code.

  • On planks- Yes, point taken

On speed- Speed is something that some judges like, some tolerate, and some hate. We prefer a moderate speed unless we really need to speak fast.

    On passion- I don't read the 1AC. I do the 2AC, which I do a bit better.

On topicality- I'm aware of that card, and use it when we run nuke as a counterplan in negative. But when we are aff, we do dispute that if someone brings it up, and we have various topicality cards on nuke being alternative.

  • what state are you from, not texas i'm guessing, that is just a little slow

  • dude you have like 2 more minutes in your 1AC i would totally bulk it up with some more sig harms evidence... i would definatley add one more in sig harms about the natural disasters and the exact ways that it is tied to global warming instead of just saying that it is. the neg could hit you in that area and say that its just some theories with no solid evidence of its tie to global warming... although now that i see the date of this video this might be irrelavent

  • i only have done 1 tournament and i absolutely suck! lo! I only won 1 round

  • Oh shit son, one constructive comment.

Get your plan planks into your plan text. Although it's usually just assumed you never know when you'll run into a team that bitch slaps you for not claiming fiat, and having enforcement and administration.

  • Woot!

    Policy debate.

Goddamn, that shit was so fun in highschool. My parent and I didn't care if we won rounds, all we ever did was write crazy kritiks and try and make our opponents cry.

Also fuck the police, and by police I mean lay judges.

  • Make sure you go to a debate camp over the summer.

  • at 5:20 you say that we could save 20 million barrels of oil a year

are you aware just how tiny that is compared to our overall consumption of oil? we consume nearly 21 million barrels daily.

  • It's ridiculously small. But the neg doesn't know that.

  • BOO sir, boo to you!

  • "It's ridiculously small. But the neg doesn't know that."

    What is the "neg?"

  • The negative team. They try to negate the resolution.

  • Wow, your voice got deep all of a sudden!!

  • I wouldnt support any mayor investments in such energy. Solar, wind & water seems to have a better future. Im unsure about the revenue though. But the development certainly needs more support.

  • Solar and wind hurt the environment more than they help. Too much land is taken up in windfarms where the land should be left to nature. Same with solar.

  • ...the sea then?..like the northern European countries?

How about underground thermal cooling and heating of homes.....???

how about on top of homes???...they have already displaced nature so at least place solar on top of our houses.....check out the green homes in most of southern germany......free electricity baby!!!!!

  • I'm just running the same cards that I would run in actual debate, not necessarily commenting on the truth or falsity of them.

  • Are you serious?

you think ur giant frikin nuc power plants wont take up space?

and the waste from these plants are dumped on native american land cuz people are racist

    racism outweighs any impact

  • Hm? Nuke plants take far less space than boutique fuels like wind and solar. As for the nuke waste, we would run cards that say G4 reactors solve waste. You also need to show why racism outweighs and show stats to prove your point.

  • Kabane52: it was the US who helped aid IRAN in nuclear from 1950's all the way to 1979....a full 30 years....(Atoms for Peace Program)....

and for good measure the CIA involvement in installing the dictator Shah in Iran in 1953

    ....also watergate.....

    cheers

  • Why are you addressing me like I'm making a serious argument in a lot of this? Some of this is valid, some is total crap. We were able to demonstrate in a round that price shocks cause nuclear war and the extinction of human life. It's called a kritik.

  • my apologies then...

  • Haha, sorry if I sounded hostile. It wasn't intended.

  • Nuclear is great. It is efficient and its only real downfall is its waste. Waste, just like the waste from coal and and other fossil fuels being burned. Well, who said we can't find something productive to do with nuclear wastes? We have harnessed the wind, sun and the atom already. Also, who says we have to bury it? Why can't we utilize some of this endless space around us and lauch it that direction, not into the ground?

  • Because that's not cost effective ;)

  • Spending around $340,000,000 a year just to plant it in our earth is?

  • wind solar ect have shown to be reliable sources of energy, but we should find ways to more efficiently harvest them, i think nuclear power would be a god transition between natural gases and greener sources of energy.

  • hmm. I'm still not totally with you on alternative energy, but IF we have to get alternative energy, nuclear is definitely the way to go. its almost unfathomable how other methods like wind or solar would be cheaper than nuclear

  • i agree on alternate energy but not nuclear energy

  • you have a really nice haircut, it's even all the way around, like you have a taken a boll and cut around it

  • Make sure you speak slower in the real thing.

  • Yes! Yes! Yes! Good luck and a great vid. Very well spoken and argued! Now go to Congress and present this.

  • Nuclear energy is the way to go...

  • WHAT ABOUT THE WASTE??? right now it is unknown what we will do with waste we already have!...thats my only concern with nuke!

  • Nuke waste is overblown. It BARELY causes any radiation at all.

  • Wonderful. It is amazing how well put together you have made this video. Your argument is sound. It is great how you use jobs, the environment, and trying to kick our addiction to oil all in one argument.

The only thing I would say is that we cannot stop on just nuclear energy, we need solar and wind (where they can be satiable).

  • you make a good case. just one thing.... speak slower, it'll make you seem more confident and will bring across your message better.

  • Good information but you speak way too quickly. Watch how Ken Miller speaks. Note how he not only speaks slowly, he enunciates his sentences to give emphasis to his talking points. Most of what you said becomes a blur of information and many people will not be able to follow it.

  • I think he's only speaking that quickly because that's how they do it in the actual debates... to get more points/fact/etc. in per minute. Correct me if I'm wrong Kabane52.

  • Yeah, jussts, you are correct.

  • I speak fast because this is typically how you do it in formal policy debate. The judges are trained to hear stuff like this.

  • no trouble with the way you speak, i speak fast myself:P

  • lol have you heard ken miller in a debate? he gets as much out as he possibly can

  • WHY are more people not aware of the necessity for and safety of nuclear power?

IS it the ignorance of the fear mongers regarding the facts surrounding safe nuclear power that keeps us nuclear free?

WHAT greater irony is there than the almost guaranteed accusation by the same fear mongers, of racism against arabs for eschewing the purchase of their oil for clean, safe, domestic nuclear power?

  • In my opinion the cost out ways most of the benefits. My local power company (Progress Energy) is building a new nuclear power plant in Levy County, FL. It is not expected to be completed for another 10 years.

In order to pay for this plant, Progress Energy has started to add a surcharge to their customers' power bills. (25% increase for residents, 40% increase for businesses) My power bill is now over $200 per month, no joke, when last year it was only around $130 a month.

  • With the economic mess right now and the huge up front cost. And also with the higher prices of electric cars. Purposing a huge increase in nuclear power production is risky.

  • Zawatsky, 08:

"Far from breaking the bank, it will actually enrich the treasury. Money would flow into the [the United States] from all around the world, because they would be backed by physical plant and equipment producing the worlds most important commodity, power. Money flowing into the United States would stabilize the free-falling dollar. Interest rates would go down. This would make us all richer to boot, as the...

  • ... stock market (in which most people have a substantial portion of their retirement savings), reacting to lower budget deficits, lower interest rates and energy security, would move higher in a sustainable way.

  • That is partially the point of the loan guarantees.

  • The power plant in Levy County is expected to cost between 10-15 billion dollars. That is for only one plant. Imagine if 10-20 nuclear power plants being built and financed at once. That is a lot money for the government (which is expected to have a 1.2 trillion dollar deficit next year) or any other for any other commercial enterprise. Keep in mind that Nuclear energy is not the only clean source of energy available for us.

  • Note, I'm pretty neutral on loan guarantees or fully financing nuke power. I'm just playing debater. The Zawatsky evidence has won debates for me.

  • If you drove your Chevy to the Levy and the levy was dry, would that mean an meltdown was imminent?

  • Coal releases one hundred times as much radioactive material? I'd like to know where you got that from. You make a good case but wind, hydroelectric, and solar are cleaner. BTW what's the other team's position? Are they pro-coal?

  • Is it necessary to put all the cites in your presentation? Can't you just say "sources available on request" or something like that?

  • Yeah, you have to do tag-cite-quote. It's just the last name and the year, it barely takes any time.

  • Not bad; A very interesting video and case.!

  • You didn't mention the environmentally devestating effects of mining coal e.g. mountaintop removal, etc.

  • Run for President, I will vote for you.

  • Thorium will in the future prove to be a good replacement for the waste heavy Uranium.

Although nuclear energy is only a temporary solution untill we get fusion up and running.

  • Haha, policy is known for it's quick talkers. The initial speech is usually spoken quickly, while the improptu speeches are not.

  • Noo-kyoo-ler.

  • okay this sounds really interesting to me. but why would using nuclear power reduce our dependence on foreign oil? our power is generated by coal, not oil, and coal is mined here in the US

  • Note the Oxford Economics study. As well as the point on clean electricity.

  • By converting most road traffic to either pure electric or hydrogen fuel.

  • such a route would be extraordinarily expensive and hence extraordinarily impractical.

  • oh, and you're talking WAY WAAY too fast

  • I know. Policy works when you talk relatively fast.

  • ANY kind of politics ios substansiated by extremely fast talking

  • Is that a picture of W on the back?

  • 2004 tsunami related to global warming? Might want to edit that out..

  • It's policy. As long as the statement is tagged and cited, you can't attack it unless you have a contrary card.

  • damn, I should have joined forensics at my school.
