@P1ER3 Pong was a cabinet game, not ported to the Magnavox Odyssey, as the video's poster says (the Odyssey had no audio output). Before Pong there were actually two games; one made in 1958, which was very similar to Pong, but made on an oscilloscope, and the other featuring dueling spaceships controlled by toggle switches. Dunno the names of either.
I was born the same year this very first real video game was released huh!! In 1978 the Japanese Arcade game Space Invaders was released, another mile stone in the gaming history.
I agree with the previous comments, this video is really bad. Also, the description is filled with mistakes.
First off, I expected this to be some sort of "review", given the title of the video, but it's just a minute of gameplay - which doesn't even match the original game.
Second, this was never on the Magnavos Odyssey (yes, Odyssey, not "Odessey").
Third, "OXO" was the first Computer Game, while "Galaxy Game" was the first Arcade game, and "Table Tennis" the first home console game.
The term "videogame" can be applied to any of those games, depending on what you consider a "videogame" to be.
Still, under no circunstance would "Pong" be the first, or even second, game ever made as there were a handful of them available a few months prior to its original arcade release.
Being the first commercial big hit? Yes, that is true.
additionally, Pong itself was never on the Odyssey system. Versions of tennis and the like, very much like Pong, were. Pong, the one you see here is made by Atari and would first be available at home with the Home Pong dedicated system in 1975.
Pong was NOT the second video game ever made. Computer Space, Spacewar, Tennis for Two and OXO come before it. Pong is, however, the second arcade game and the first successful one.
THESE GRAPHICS ARE BETTER THEN BLACK OPS AND BATLLE FIELD 3!!!
