This probably isn't the whole piece. The notes I have for this piece make it 16 pages long! Such a great piece to play when it is late at night. Great performance! You really have his style down. Monk is so great to play becaues you can play him in many different ways... Even the dissonances sound great. The melody seems to just come together, capturing that blue feeling.
Not and easy chart, very nice job.Love the stride section,I belive you worked very hard too get this tune under your fingers once again very very strong effort.
Thelonious Monk is a true master of the piano. Nobody plays like him and nobody ever will. His piano playing is so unique and totally his own. Nobody will ever be able to play like Monk.
Another thing is nobody wrote as many great compositions as Monk, which a majority of them are jazz standards. "Trinkle, Tinkle" being one of them.
Many of Thelonious Monk's compositions are incredibly hard to play. I knew a guy who was pianist who never heard a note of Monk, which was a crime as far as I'm concerned, asked me if he could hear some Monk and I played him "Boo Boo's Birthday" from the 1968 recording "Underground."
Long story short, he said "Man, that is so easy to play." There was a piano in the corner and I said "Go play it then." I never heard anyone play it so badly and so out-of-time...lol. What a joke.
You're the real thing. It's terrific music. But dude, some of your more complex runs are shorter than your screen name. At least give a one syllable nickname. Please.
Yeah man! Trinkle & twinkle it out of the keys! Thanks a lot! Do you know the German band "Die Enttäuschung"? They are playing "Monk's Casino", the complete works of Thelonious Monk on two CD's, together with Alexander v. Schlippenbach.
