he decelerates that bat very quickly before he makes contact. He is exploiting the stretch reflex to stop and pull the bat back fast, that's why it makes more of a slap on his skin instead of causing any deeper damage (no follow through of swing). i think the person with the bat is doing the impressive part.
The Shaolin guy has a boxer's gut, to be sure, but he would be in a world of hurt if his partner was aiming at his sternum or solar plexus with the bat, "Iron Shirt" or not.
@justaman6972 You see, when you say things like that it makes you look like, not just a wimp, but a liar just trying to get attention. It was just scientifically proven that that monk can take a hit from a baseball bat traveling at a velocity that landed 484 pounds of force with a smile on his face after impact. But hey, that's nothing compared to making an anonymous insulting comment on Youtube.
@TheXarthan the statement aking me a whimp? Ha tis to laugh. One needs to remove crainium from rectum and look at the impact point of the bat, which is clear up to the handle where the energy transfer is least. The sweet spot on a bat is the lasy six inches of the barrel of the bat. What is happening here is the whole of the bat makes contact @ sametime. No real force impact ,rather impact is over large surface area. So lt me swing it & I'll send his chi to the outfield wall fo sho!
@justaman6972 I can tell you're a child by the way you type and probably have a 10th grade education on physics. He still took 484 pounds of force of impact and smiled after. Even if he took a hit from the end of the bat he might feel it a little, yes but you would not put him down. Do you actually think that you could hurt someone that has trained their entire lives taking hits like this and have become immune to such impact? You should see the other things monks do, kid.
@TheXarthan nice use of ad homenim personal attack.Typical of one who lacks forensic debate skills. My typing errors were due to the fact I broke my glasses, but is of no consequence. You must live in some fantasy world, if you think that I, who weigh 21.7 stone and stand 6'3" wouldn't destroy his fake iron shirt, spleen, spine, aorta,a lung and his heart, but you go on thinking that. They should be bullet proof by your thinking then. Enjoy rainbow world or where ever . lol..kid indeed
@justaman6972 You're the one commenting on already scientific proven videos calling them fake because you say they are, people like you make me sick. Anyone can claim to be anyone over the Internet. Show me a video of you taking down a Shoulin monk that has trained in taking impacts like this all of his life. What have you done or proved? that you have Internet access and can say anything you want with anonymous protection on Youtube. Enjoy your protected world behind your screen.
@justaman6972 And "fo sho!" thing I hear high school students saying all the time. No typing error. Teenage slang that one adapts to in the time period used so you actually give away your age without even knowing it.
@Alexsaraci I mean, I'm all for truth but when you get people on here saying things like justaman was... it is very foolish to insult someone that has been practicing anything for his entire life rather it be fighting or art. And yes maybe this man did not hit as hard as he desired to by what it literally looked like an accident. I've seen videos of these monks hanging by their necks full weight for hours at a time and smashing their heads and fists against brick walls which calcify.
@justaman6972 he took 2400 psi to the throat. what more proof do you need? Also i would not challenge him to a fight, monks train before they can walk in combat. You are a much larger man, but every man is frail, given the right technique and application.
I saw, with my own eyes, a Tsigun person do the spear to the throat thing live. You'd think it's pretty hard to fake. You don't even need the spear to be especially sharp to do damage
even as scientist in training, i still believe that there are things , real things, in this world that logic and reasoning cant explain, and that science cant prove, but are real.
@wazscience Science can prove these things. You just need different methods.
Real scientist never believes. He know, or do not know. Belief in that there is no such things is bias that is preventing most of scientists to find new methods to research these kinds of things and therefore, thanks to bias and stubborn beliefs, scientists are preventing humanity from exploring amazing possibilities.
There was a time when people believed the earth was flat but they were wrong. Now many people believe that chi gong is fake, but in the future common sense will tell that they were wrong.
How can the girl have all those tools and phds and still cant explain what the monk is doing with the spear. There must be a serious study about the fact so...
@sickxibeastxxx i bet u are a fucking fat guy behind the screen who could do none of these except to shoot a fucking tiny pistol and i bet you cant even hit LMAO
I think it is hilarious how everyone is talking about the bat and joking about it. But what about the spear? He has truely accomplished something awesome! Just like any world class performer or athlete, he has trained hard for years to accomplish this.
Why is this so hard to understand - Wong has simply trained his ability to effectively utilise and manipulate his intra-abdominal pressure via the diaphragm; becomes like hitting a car tyre.
Leaning into the blow before full swing severely reduces the power of it. It's known to martial artists :) You get the worst when the blow is at full swing, that's why thai fighters lean into the kick of their opponent with their two-armed blocks.
As for the spear, you can see pretty clearly that he's leaning on it with his collar bone, taking most of the pressure away... great trick, great conditioning, all my respect, still... just a trick.
stupid scientist ! i practise qi gong every day for several hours and it is more than survive a spear. this energy makes you fucking happy, more than all other things in this world !
oh qi gong (or chi kung) is a good inner exercice, requires lot of concentration, but this video is so fake; the camera changes right before the bat hits him, so basic =P
dopey credulous Phd woman... the pressure goes on his sternum, not the windpipe, they even said he had a red mark on his collar bones. Get the shaolin clown to stand against a wall and resist a dagger to the throat. Result? one dead charlatan.
@wobbie35 If that is true, you should be able to perform the EXACT SAME feat as this Shaolin Monk without suffering damage. You should contact the program and submit your suggestion. Afer all, you have it all figured out.
@MrTerrificII Let me explain this trick to you. It's always performed with a long flexible spear and never a short solid blade, such as a dagger. The two tricksters will immediately push in and DOWN so the flexible spear is pressing on the chest, not the throat. They keep pressing till the shaft snaps... I hope u can see through it now?
If u ever see a clip where this is performed with a dagger, not a long flexible spear - let me know.
i can believe the first part but I'm skeptical of a few things on the second. the first was that they didn't use a dummy to calculate the force for the stick. second the spear was curved so when his weight was pushing against it the tip would point up and further away from his neck, and third they over dramatized it, a tv show isn't going to risk someones life just for a demonstration. Their reactions reminded me of Chris Angel spectator reactions.
its great that he can do that thing with the spear. but its useless in a fight, not fast enough. and im a little doubtful to them calling him a master after only 13 years of practice. the term master is overused anyways...in my opinion.
Chi? I don't doubt he is doing something very impressive that takes practice, patience, and possibly something else he is reluctant to share, but this sounds a little ridiculous. If there was hard evidence of the Chi, fine, but so far their isn't.
hahaha i'm laughed at these loser pathetic youtubers calling this fake.....why you go to shaolin and prove yourslef than sitting in front computers all day calling this vid fake and this man fake, wakakakakakaka the ONE IS FAKE IS YOU PATHETIC LOSER...........
its called Qi gong or its called having an assistant that will pull back on the hit and not strike you hard, anyone could take that, bruce lee once said let me handle the spear and i bet i could make it go through his neck, its all tricks and bullshit
@CamjonesJnr I agree that the bat was pulled back right as it made contact, but there's no doubt in my mind that shaolin monks can do some pretty wacky shit just from constant practice and discipline.
@mawkheaf yeah i mean i respect shaolin, i love some of the shit they do, i mean go check out sifu yan lei he is awesome and does a pretty good iron jacket, he has also trained in sanda, muay thai and brings a much more practical approach to fighting that i can respect, but this video does not do them justice
for those who says Fake, he slows down the bat or Whatever, men call a friend a tell im hi strikes on your belly with a bat, or break a stick while u hold a spear on your trhoat, Probabbly is u belive if the monk finish the performance and Makes a kame hame ha, or a Oriuken!!! or go fly, Get real men this guy is amazing
I enjoy people saying this is fake and science this and that. But when you practice 365 years every single day, at 4:30 in the morning until way late at night for 13 years. Theres no doubt you develop chi.
@NewKidProductionz I agree I mean some of our best scientific knowledge was possessed by the most ancient of civilization and to which was lost that still cant be replicated by today's technology ...seriously the question of science over spirituality... when are people going to realise that its two sides of the coin!!!
@specialforces69 it is a subconscious thing. It is the same as if he were to slow down right before hitting himself with a bat, he does not do it consciously. But his brain does not want to hurt himself/his friends.
Kung Fu is a nonsense fighting system, but these physical feats are impressive.
The whole talk about chi being "beyond science" is nonsense, though. If chi exists, it is open to empirical observation. Clearly, SOMETHING is at play here. Whether that is a mysterious energy (chi), body conditioning, or something else can and ought to be induced by a scientific study.
@AnIndoneousUsername i know its not possible, but I would have liked the spear to have OVER 9000 pounds of force xD we could have said ITS OVER 9000!!!
i think, by bending the spear and sustaining by his collar bone, he could've taken it more easily. and the bat blow was about half the force that the first one generated on the dummy. no disrespect for such ancient martial arts, but just tryin to find a possible explanation in the realm of my understanding. still very impressive that he could survive such lethal attacks...
Of course he isn't using the tip of the bat, he is instead using the middle area to strike with. The tip of the bat would probably break bones or cause massive trauma. With that said, it's still well executed technique and it takes a lot of training to do something like that. Awesome!
total bullshit. have a machine make the same 800lb psi swing at him and see if he still dares to stand in its way. the bullshit assistant even FLEW AWAY upon impact of a 50% less powerful swing at 400 psi.
@thekaizer666 idiots like you just can t accept a known fact like this... even if a machine were to hit him, he still would withstand it, thanks to his years of training...did u know it takes years itself to harness chi and years again to control it for the purpose of combat..? and it takes a hater just a second to write a dumbass, insennsitive comment like tat..
@joelvis65 i was just reacting to "' idiots like... like this '' ( sentence 1) uhm i'd probably explain it like faith you just have to have faith to believe in faith ( which i dont but i think its quite a nice compareson) sry for my bad English.

@NewKidProductionz 365 years? seriously?? is anyone permitted to live THAT long? hahaha..
101stopme 2 months ago
@NewKidProductionz I agree I mean some of our best scientific knowledge was possessed by the most ancient of civilization and to which was lost that still cant be replicated by today's technology ...seriously the question of science over spirituality... when are people going to realise that its two sides of the coin!!!
KungfuPolice007 2 months ago
@NewKidProductionz ROFL! epic fail XD "365 years every single day"
Blakheim343 2 months ago
@specialforces69 it is a subconscious thing. It is the same as if he were to slow down right before hitting himself with a bat, he does not do it consciously. But his brain does not want to hurt himself/his friends.

clearcombat 3 months ago
@clearcombat i thought i was the only one that realized that lol
paulmoktan 3 months ago
@clearcombat ok that may be true, but can you explain the fact that he had a real spear placed at his neck.
wazscience 3 months ago

zazzeyzaz 3 months ago
Fuck the so called Chi
Orvellrednbacer 3 months ago

Stupid test! With all that money, you can't make a more clever test than a hollywood studio would have made.
Continue to americanize the martial arts !
vins282828 3 months ago
@vins282828 Chi is not americanized, that is old stuff.
deguimerautube 3 months ago
Next time, just gear up and let the lady announcer swing the bat.
Topazman12 3 months ago
It is no mystery, he pushed the spear down tward the floor instead of directly in. And the bat.... well, anyone can do that.
fcuk4220 3 months ago
this pussy with the bat needs to follow through, he absorbs a lot of the energy this pussy gook
geoff1424 3 months ago
chi is shock waves just letting every body know
williamhog 3 months ago
@williamhog learn physics before you try to teach someone dumbass
kevinpenagaguy 3 months ago
Kung Fu is a nonsense fighting system, but these physical feats are impressive.
The whole talk about chi being "beyond science" is nonsense, though. If chi exists, it is open to empirical observation. Clearly, SOMETHING is at play here. Whether that is a mysterious energy (chi), body conditioning, or something else can and ought to be induced by a scientific study.

Monks don't lie, that's their rule of thumb, so if you think he's just bullshitting then you are a piece of crap
yeastori 3 months ago
i think, by bending the spear and sustaining by his collar bone, he could've taken it more easily. and the bat blow was about half the force that the first one generated on the dummy. no disrespect for such ancient martial arts, but just tryin to find a possible explanation in the realm of my understanding. still very impressive that he could survive such lethal attacks...
loooooojason 3 months ago
Of course he isn't using the tip of the bat, he is instead using the middle area to strike with. The tip of the bat would probably break bones or cause massive trauma. With that said, it's still well executed technique and it takes a lot of training to do something like that. Awesome!

thekaizer666 3 months ago
@thekaizer666 idiots like you just can t accept a known fact like this... even if a machine were to hit him, he still would withstand it, thanks to his years of training...did u know it takes years itself to harness chi and years again to control it for the purpose of combat..? and it takes a hater just a second to write a dumbass, insennsitive comment like tat..
joelvis65 3 months ago
@joelvis65 chi has not ever been profed so dont say it has just saying :)
TheObelix876 3 months ago
@TheObelix876 there are some things which cannot be proved dude... they have to be experienced to believe.... how else would u explain it?
joelvis65 3 months ago
@joelvis65 i was just reacting to "' idiots like... like this '' ( sentence 1) uhm i'd probably explain it like faith you just have to have faith to believe in faith ( which i dont but i think its quite a nice compareson) sry for my bad English.
