  • This s absolutely amazing. My tears continue to fall! RIP!

  • I am so happy I got to witnessed the greatest singers of all time and outlived them to tell my son. Whitney, Michael, Luther Vandross just to name a few. We still have Mariah and Madonna, and Celine Dion. When these 3 dies, music will also die. What do we have nowadays we have Bieber, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga oh my!!! bad influence for kids with their songs and lyrics that they used. There is no more quality in lyrics with music nowadays.

  • @MrGthang So sad but true, those three better not even look like they want to check out. lol not even a common cold.

  • 私が初めて洋楽を聴いたとき、この曲だった。。。

    めちゃ 衝撃だった事!!思い出しました。

  • I LOVE YOU WHITNEY....I HOPE THAT YOUR OKAY WHERE YOUR AT...I USE TO SLEEP WITH YOUR MUSIC IN MY WALKMAN BACK IN THE 80'S.....I HOPE GOD IS THERE WITH YOU!!!!

  • so much feeling..... bye whitney! from the phlllipines!

  • its not the best performance, is it?

I think the best is the one with the falsetto in "she took you smile..."

    here it is

    youtube.com/watch?v=_kn5ttQh7-o

  • amazing!

  • love it

  • love it

  • That's my baby forever. She is the best....

  • i love this song...

  • she always puts in notes that are even better than those in the studio version. great

  • @JSP1839 her live versions are always better

  • I think she's got that voice that gives u chills just like karen carpenter

  • I always get misty eyed when I hear this song... you ca n really feel the pain, agony and the longing of the person in this song..

  • Whenever I watch Whitney Houston videos, I just cry! Seriously, she was just the best singer in the world! I wish I could have taken the crack for her instead! Tragic.

  • @sandytheslayer When I watch them, I just smile. I'm glad to have witnessed her rise to superstardom. I remember most of those performances and am grateful for youtube to remind younger people why she's heralded as the greatest!!

  • @TheLanard Me too!!

  • WOW!!!!!!

  • Where is this live from?

  • @Caro91WH sanremo, italy

  • so much fucking power. love it

  • Not as Good as her AMA's Peformence of this song but still Amazing

  • This was a great performance of this song. She's at her best. I just wish the cameraman didn't keep raising the camera up over her head towards the end.

  • So much power...unbelievable!

  • I love all whitney songs..wondderfull and golden voice....

  • Jeffrey Osborne (On the wings of love) wrote this song. Brave to the 2 of them!!

  • hair wasn't allowed to move back then. the mid 20th onwards is all about hair movement and vitality.

  • she was great here. what can i say..

  • Let's be honest. Whitney sang her "behind" off the first 20 years of her career! Yes, the voice has changed, some would even say matured. Smoking can be a problem with singing because it damages the singer's voice. Other singers who smoke still maintained their voices, however. Just think of Nat Kind Cole, Chaka Khan, or even Rashaan Patterson. All smokers, but still great singers.

  • Her voice was so powerful back then. It was like mechanical. Could blow you away :)

  • @yurherenow Oh, just here barking loud again? Soooooooo disgusted. :-&

  • the greatest singer in the world*******

  • her voice is like a bomb that when it has to explode no one can control it.even mariah cant do wat whitney's can do even mariah can wistle still whitney has the powerful voice among them all

  • Whitney Houston is always and forever my favorite singer. She has always been the most amazing singer to me. Her song make me cry, smile, and feel stronger feelings than ever in life. She has inspired me to be a strong woman. She is the Ella of my Generation. I pray she has strength beyond her own to continue, and to just Remember that she is sooo beautiful. I've song her songs since I was 5 yrs. old.

  • @TahshaTPitsMe she is dead now... how sad... RIP idol..

  • Whitney's best performance (vocally and stage presence) is didn't we almost have it all from 1987.

Search for: "Whitney Houston - Live - Didn't We Almost Have It All".

She makes the rendition special and what a voice. It's really emotional. Please look at it if you either love Whitney or would like to see the best of her. ( I listen to her every day)...

  • @Madeleenify I'd say it's "Why Does It Hurt So Bad" from the MTV VMAs before watching the video you speak of. I'll correct myself after watching it (if I think so, too).

  • nobody remember when whitney had a huge vocal cord problem in the 90's ? everybody knew that could be cancer but she wasnt .... maybe drugs can help to destroy her voice .. hope she sang again beautifull song with her own real and fantastic voice ....

  • Amazing!!!

  • i just don't think whitney's voice issues have anything to do with drugs. i keep reading that over and over and over again on youtube. it's not that i am comparing whitney to anyone, i've been hooked sinse 85, but charlie wilson can sing his rear end off to this day and he said he was on drugs and homeless.

  • @frsh6272

Cocain can only mentally damage u im sure

if it was tobaco im sure we could say that was the reason but it wasnt

she probably just sung her voice out

  • i agree that she probably sung her voice out.

  • @frsh6272 She didn't sing her voice out. She's out of practice. You would be if you stopped doing something FOR YEARS.

She's fine. Just listen to her Moscow performance.

  • i love you whitney!! this song and her voice made me cry. love whitney!!!!

i hate all the haters of whitney!!!

  • This was the second time she sang this song that night, straight after the first time they asked her to sing again, as it was so good, think she did better second time round as well!

  • whitney can sing until now but not like that now because she use drugs and that damn thing affect her voice. You know, i 'm whitney's fan, i am Mariah's no. 1 fan, and i love whitney too. i love her beautiful songs, beautiful voice and beautiful face. :))

i hope that i 'm not sound like a hater.

  • Comment removed

  • this should be a reminder to everyone what drugs do to you......She was amazing her voice was beyond the stars....

  • @jcpickles25

yes!!! i'm very sad for her bcoz she waste her beautiful voice, mariah nd whitney have the best voice in the world

  • this performance along w/ the one in 1986 Grammy's is PHENOMENAL, no one can ever sing like this, the emotion, technique, breathing, passion etc. I've been a fan ever since "The Bodyguard". Not sounding like her teens when she reaches late 30s doesn't mean a deterioration, but the voice from Whitney that we are hearing lately is a result of excessive drug use n heavy smoke. Her voice was not clear and her lungs are not powerful to support her technique. I'd still admire her, no matter what.

  • ::Sighs:: Damn this is the Whitney I grew up with and loved. She is so beautiful and perfect here. Man!

  • Amazing:O I wish she could still sing like that:(

  • she is the only singer that gives me goosebumps and makes the hairs stand up when she sings.. WOW..

  • 2:08 she was the shizzzzzzzzzznit!

  • Loved it!!!

  • here's something to wake you up, check out whitney houston loverman, my man, all the man I need...type that in

  • she is a powerful singer... she sang with great expression...

  • @ 3:39 WOW She sang that high powerful note with so much ease and held it. You could tell that she was NO WHERE NEAR the top of her register. She's the best! I think that had she continued vocal training and warming up before singing and mixing her head and chest voices on certain notes that she would still sound the same. But I love her anyway.

  • and stop smoking too

  • the best singer in her days!

  • Well, Whitney isn't the same as this any longer. But the thing that counts, she sung her heart out, just to share it with the world. She didn't lip sync, even she she was at her baddest.. Bad expressed by me, but I hope you understand what I mean!

  • I Really Love This SONG!!! This kind of happend to my mom and I when my grandmother got cancer and died within a month stating that all at once everything came down.

  • I'm so sorry, to learn about your Grandmother. you must have loved her so much, and my heart goes out to you. The same thing happend to my mum. I hope, that one day, we will all be together again, in a much better place, an earthly paradise. God bless you. LOL.

  • god listen to the power in her voice i really wish i cud of saw her live in them days, but i wasnt even born!

  • whats the update about her?

  • she has an album coming out this year, it's her first album in nearly 7 years. It's going to be awesome!

  • New album coming out this year

official release date is september 1st 2009

  • @mamayagpagku people have been disappointed with her latest live concerts because her voice has now changed. They were expecting her fleeting gift to be the same. I mean be realistic people even Franklin doesn't sound like she did in the 60s.

  • @mamayagpagku whitney started a world tour in Feb starting in Australia then now shes in the denmark. her voice wasnt as strong in the begging but now shes almost as good as she was back in the mid 90 check out a vid of her in Australia then in zurich. she is gettin back to where she was.

  • Wonderful!!

  • Whitney Houston is the most "Awarded" female in the history of rock and roll..

  • People forget the hundreds of concerts this woman gave to the world throughout her career. While everyone debates whether all these other so called divas are lip synching there are endless videos of Whitney truly singing her ass off for the world. THAT is the real reason for any wear and tear on that gift she got from God and shared with the world.

  • @tobeydicaprio i wish i could vote thumbs up to this a million times...people in america don't realize that when we didn't see Whitney on a TV show or something she was overseas singing her ass off!!! im glad somebody FINALLY brought this point up...the keys in her early years were stupid high an she hit all of those notes nightly full range, full power...that is definitely gonna have some future effects on your vocal chords...thanks tobey

  • @dynez007 Thank you dynez007! And I will forever appreciate and thank Whitney for all the great music she has and will continue to bring the world. I and so many people around the world want her to continue to share her gift. I know she realizes that. I really don't think she would be out there giving it her all if she didn't.

  • @tobeydicaprio I agree!

  • @tobeydicaprio wear and tear is what she had after the bodyguard tour, what she has now is a crack voice, I'm allergic to bullshit

  • @tobeydicaprio you said it so well i think this is something that all of her true fans understand

  • What happened to this beautiful voice?

  • Seriously .... oh what could've been.

Thank goodness for Youtube. We can relive her prime.

  • She's the only singer with this gifted voice. I love her ever since her first album in 1985. Her voice is one of the greatest of all time. I love this diva and god bless her today and alwyas.

  • so great..but i feel so sad when she got addicted to drugs..now we all know that drug abuse can really destroy us and the people around us..

  • no one can beat the voice of WHITNEY HOUSTON! she's tahe BEST ever!

  • I searched hoping to find the earliest live performance of Miss. Houston as I need to check for myself. Somone commented that her voice declined with each album.- meaning that by the late 80's she could no longer match\better the vocals of her first album. is that true?

  • no it wasn't...it declined in the mid 90s

  • Her vocals didn't decline in mid 90's. She is and will forever now be a phenomenal woman with an incredible God given talent. She is also a human being and not a machine...

  • yes it did...drugs can destroy ur vocal chords..

  • u have no proof drugs destroyed anything. no 45 yr old singer is going to sound the same as 20 yr old singer. get a grip.

  • Yes it did but drugs was just one thing. there are other factors such as her heavy smoking habit and a vocal technique that really wears out the vocal chords. all have taken its toll over the years but with proper training she technique but never again the quality we see here.

  • LOL, yes youre right DeoMoto, Im still to this day so shocked that she's a heavy smoker. And she's been like that since her teens, I can't believe how she intentioally ruined her voice when she was the best.... Being a professional singer and yet a smoker? Don't get it...

  • Smoking runs in her family. I'm not sure if her mom smokes but I know her cousin Dionne Warwick smoked and her family friend-Auntie Aretha Franklin used to smoke although Aretha stopped in the 80's and she claimed to get some of her voice back after doing so.

  • nope it declined only in the late 90s... In fact the late 80s were when her voice was at it's prime..

  • classic whitney, simple as that.

  • GREAT...............

  • this is just beyond stunning.

  • AMAZING VOCALS!

  • I love how she is so in control of her voice! Going from really hard to soft like an angel! Thats the true signs of a legendary singer!

  • Holy shit! I was not expecting that at 2:18! Wow....

  • mariah carey could have kept sounding good too if she didn't keep tryna belt at the top of her lungs

  • what destroyed Mariah's voice is her stupid whispering in her songs. That was bound to happen! Mariah is not technically sound.

  • Great!! I remember that day! Live at Festival della Canzone Italiana in Sanremo (Italy)!!

  • That last part is near perfection of a voice.. No one can say God isnt real after listening to this Voice..

  • You will surely be amazed if you hear this song from nyt visual's drummer girl. She delivers it very well while playing the drums. Really amazing. We'll soon be recording it.

  • I was such a fan of Whitney during this era that I'm surprised I missed this. It's great to see clips for the first time 20 years later. With that said, I still prefer the AMA version, but maybe that's cuz I'm used to it. Still NOBODY has come alone since that can top this kind of perfection!

  • This just unbelievable.Amazing Vocals!! That's an Angel's Voice.

  • This is Whitney at her best, the clarity and pureness of her voice when she sang was just amazing. Her voice was not only very powerful but crystal clear, that you can hear and taste every word. Her's and Barbra Streisand's voice at their respective peaks are for me the purest and crystal clearest in the business! Unfortunately we wil never hear this kind of sound ever again. Nobody can ever come close!

  • for sure!

  • You are absolutely right! Whitney and Barbra had the best voices at their time. When Whitney first came out in 1985, I can remember Donna Summer saying "Oh, my God, she's the black Barbra Streisand." You are right on Marackis

  • youre right, whitney is the BEST! forever..i really like her.. love u whitney!

  • since when i was at the age of 4, i already learned how to appreciate music, and eventually realize that it was whitney houston whom i've learned to appreciate, her voice and her music.

  • Whitney is a true legend, I've got chills, i'm so nostagic listen her sounding like that! She sings with so much emotion, that's crazy, and what a voice.

  • her voice is just....perfection...no one can sing like this...that's for sure!

  • even she can't sing like this anymore

  • Glad this was reposted.

  • Its amazing how singers today hardly wear any clothes on stage, and sell millions of records with only 1/4 of the talent of Whitney. Whitney blows the house down everytime!! No matter how frumpy her dress is. :-)

  • I wouldnt say frumpy, it was the 80's sophisticated woman look.

  • Thank God this performance was reposted. I paniced when it was taken down. This is my favorite performance of her doing this song live. Please keep it up!

  • There will never be another Whitney Elizabeth Houston! Remember that!

  • yah, but it wouldnt be leona lewis..!

  • Simply the best
