Thank you SOOO much for this fascinating interview . I saw the performance on 25th May and am still reeling from the magic of that night. Nerone's duet with Lorcan was sensuous and wonderfully ambiguous and, of course, "Pur ti Miro" was marvellous. I met Philippe at the stage door afterwards and, incredibly, he remembered me from London! He is such a sweet person, self-effacing, charming and sincere. Can't wait to see him with Spinosi at the Proms in September.
I love Cencic and absolotely adore Jaroussky but as a countertenor I'm not agree with him about a Mezzosoprano being more dramatic that a countertenor, and a countertenor playing the role like a spoiled kid. Of course a mezzo as woman can be very dramatic a "drama queen" but still a female playing a male role. As a countertenor i'm aware that many times in vocal quality and power a mezzo can be more suitable for a big production. But the thing about countertenors is to portray a male role
In a manly way,men can be dramatic too.sexual orientation, femenine manner don't apply on stage cause we portray characters(I know a lot of very girly baritons but nobody expects to see a girly Don Giovanni!) so this manly way of drama is what is needed for many countertenors when they perform, and that is something that no contralto or mezzo(no matter how low her voice is) is never going to do.Or like those countertenors who love to sing female parts they never going to be Carmen
Great to get some information before the premiere, and for once from the singers, who know the opera so well and give us such interesting insights. Thank you for posting this!
Gracias por esta entrevista que revela la parte emocional de los artistas... Nunca volvere a mirar a Nerone del mismo modo que "apres-Philippe". Please a DVD!!!!!!!
Un francés y un croata hablando en inglés para la televisión española.
Ellos hablando una segunda lengua, los hispanoparlantes comprendiéndolos en una segunda lengua... ¿Por qué? o.O

Congratulations to Mr. Ignacio Vleming for such an excellent interview for EsMadrid.
It is a unique opportunity to listen to these singers talking about their own roles in this opera.

Thank you! Gracias! Merci! Danke! )))
Precious interview!
Of course, Nerone was a poet, a musician, an actor - not just a "bad boy"! :-)
TTT and a lot success for you both, Señor Jaroussky and Señor Cencic - you ´re GREAT !
