Dave Mason told me this story about the recording of this song. They were in the middle of the session and

Jimi decided he wanted to use an acoustic guitar for one of the tracks. The guitar he wanted to use was across town , so Jimi and Dave took a cab across New York City late at night, BROKE INTO this cats apartment,

and took the guitar back to the studio to finish recording the song. Jimi tried to teach Dave how to play the

acoustic guitar part for it, but wound up playing it himself!
