We also have to face alot of foreign talents competing for jobs in Singapore. It's so competitive now, that having just a degree is not enough. Optimistic as i am, i'm also a realist. I think ITE and NUS are of totally different levels and shouldn't even be compared in the first place. However, here's something i'd like to point out to the apathetic... There are ITE students who have made it to NUS and further.
I believe that ITE students have our own strengths and it's a stepping stone to go further.

Not all employers in the market choose a "Degree" holder over and "ITE" cert holder. It depends on what kind of skills are demanded for the jobs. And if you're too ignorant to know how the ITE's progression system works, let me tell you, an ITE graduate can immediately progress to diploma courses or overseas degrees. Its just a matter of time. We've seen an ex-ITE student being in the Dean's List in a well-known oversea's university. They are just one of our many aspiring student of ITE.
Well well, guess what? I'm already Nitec holder, but i'm still back in ITE today. it's not really where u study, its what u study. I was once a student in Singapore Poly, but i'm proud to say i've resigned from poly and took up another prospectful ITE course, its what you really wanna be and what you wanna work as, and how you should work to it.

I agree with rinnie5 that being in NUS doesn't equate to having better English.
Grades/School doesn't determine intelligence. Dilligence & the right attitude gives one results.
Singapore's education system is catered for left brainers, leaving the right brainers to be perceived as "stupid".
Education is a stepping stone to a good career, but many other have succeeded without it. Anyway, life is about so much more.

Optimistic as i am, i'm also a realist. I think ITE and NUS are of totally different levels and shouldn't even be compared in the first place. However, here's something i'd like to point out to the apathetic... There are ITE students who have made it to NUS and further.
I believe that ITE students have our own strengths and it's a stepping stone to go further.

Russia's known to be really involved in that whole nuclear power production business, so an accident every now and then seems highly probable. We also study mixing petrol with chemicals, producing stuffs like lubricants and industrial oils, too many products to name. We also have another specialisation in pharmaceuticals.

everyone plays a part in society - i totally agree, which part they play, what part they play depends on how smart they are. im not looking down at stupid people, just as there are rich and poor people, there are smart and stupid people. and dun you guys know that ITE was started to cater as a safety net for those early school leavers? theres nothing wrong in being dumb, just as there is nothing wrong in being poor. so what wrong did i say?

look down on others and ure looking down on yourself. everything plays a part. but what matters most isnt ur paper qualifications, level of intelligence, and what not. what matters is still the attitude. and i mean the right kind of attitude. and if it gives you satisfaction from watching this video. u prolly have issues. it's appalling to know that such things actually exist. thinking ure all it. but sorry. ure nothing at all.

i wouldnt consider makers of pianos, violins etc manual labourers but rather, skilled craftsmen? Also, a truly smart, vocal person would be able to come up with a more coherent argument sans vulgarities.

not everybody is gifted in the same aspects and just cos certain people are not so academically inclined doesn't mean that they're stupid more than not being able to play a certain sport mean the person is unathletic. To think so is just narrowmindednes, plain and simple. for those who are in the ITE our of plain ol' laziness, they deserve whatever derision is directed at them. however, those who work hard to carve themselves a niche in society deserve our respect.

and this ad doesnt even poke fun at ITE students infact it's promoting ITE. would you rather have an ad like this or an ad to show that it is REALLY RARE that ITE students can go to whatever top university overseas. stop looking down on yourselfs ITE students so what if you can make it then be like normal, dont have to specially go announce you are better than all your other ITE counterparts.

As for the things you were referring to (handcrafting, guarding condos), I think they pertain to something known as "LABOR WORK". Only people without any real brain power do those jobs. You're such a sad person; born into a life of stupidity and denial, always striving to be living a better life. Yet it always seems so far, doesn't it? So you also looks down on security guards down your condo, who patrols your estate 24 hours a day, guarding your safety? Look, stop all these squabble over this, not all employers choose degree holders - some choose ITE students cos they no budget. You got watch jack neo's EM3 stream students who are "condemn" to go ITE? know whats the name of the movie? "I Not Stupid", and best part, in real life, these young actors are all EM1/EM2 students. see what I mean?

Not all employers in the market choose a "Degree" holder over and "ITE" cert holder. It depends on what kind of skills are demanded for the jobs. And if you're too ignorant to know how the ITE's progression system works, let me tell you, an ITE graduate can immediately progress to diploma courses or overseas degrees. Its just a matter of time. We've seen an ex-ITE student being in the Dean's List in a well-known oversea's university. They are just one of our many aspiring student of ITE.

Well well, guess what? I'm already Nitec holder, but i'm still back in ITE today. it's not really where u study, its what u study. I was once a student in Singapore Poly, but i'm proud to say i've resigned from poly and took up another prospectful ITE course, its what you really wanna be and what you wanna work as, and how you should work to it.

ok, i believe some ITE people are not stupid. but it's a huge different between ITE and NUS if not you guys would not be laughing. if the parody was changed to some other institute instead of ITE or something there wouldnt be much of a diff. That's because ITE is branded already. Sorry to ITE students but it's the sad sad truth.

Yes doug31, I agree. ITE students have been branded to be the lowest and dumbest students of Singapore. It IS a sad truth. Singapore has a very clear and obvious way of promoting natural selection which seems to be working rather well.

ok... not say about the truth, but how much ite is archieving so far? Last year they recieved the singapore quality award... and keep seeing students advancing, and it eables students to learnt multiple skills.

Learning to see strength in people from different educational background gain you genuine respect in a working industry that a cert can't. ever wonder people respect one's qualification or respect the person himself?
people with high qualifications maybe working in the frontline all the times, but how can they achieve success without people toiling in the background. be appreciative for all people who have contributed in one way or another.

And.... it takes them 2 years to complete their course of study after secondary school. Then they work a couple of years, get promoted and earn 5-6k a month. It takes snobs maybe 7 to 10 years to finish their studies after which they TRY to get maybe a 2k/mth paying job. How do I know? Bloddy 'ell, I'm one of 'em!

by the way, getting a piece of paper is nothing more then a high chance to secure a job. and wake up, it might not even be a job that you will like.

You dumb f*ck. Papers and certs from better schools serve as ways to indicate your better academic capabilities. A lot of companies view your performance in school to judge how well you'll be performing in real life - how quick you learn new things and how well you apply your learned knowledge.
