  • The Rules of "Hurdles" were if a contestant picked a product that was less than the price of the Hurdler, he clears it, but if it is more, the Hurdler Crashes and the contestant loses.

  • so sure Bob whip's out a gun

  • I liked this Game, I can't believe it got Retired.

  • Do you know when they stopped playing this game?

  • @matagorda5

    1983.

  • If this game wasn't retired,I can bet that Drew Carey woulda called this guy "Hurdley Guy" LOL!!

  • Good concept for a game, though. They should have just found a way to get the hurdle to rise properly.

  • 1976

  • This was retired because, you saw what happened when the hurdle didn't rise.

  • How cool! I remember this game, but barely.

  • I never noticed the scale on the left of the prop before...

  • from 2:40 a moment.

  • It sounds like the audio was a little off. Was this how it aired, or did this occur from the posting of this video?

  • i loved hurdles.....

    sad about it being gone.....

  • I wish they put this Pricing Game back on the Price is Right. I'm glad she won the motorcycles but, I think there was a malfunction on this game, thats probably why they retired it.

  • And this clip demonstrates why the game was retired. Malfunctions such as this were pretty common for the game. Pity, because it was a fun game to watch.

  • you know, they could easily have redesigned the game and made it a little easier to control the mechanics. Nowadays it could even be computerized.

  • That's true. Unfortunately, when a game is retired, it never comes back :-(.

  • This is the advantage of BigJon's Price is right, as you can play ALL the TPIR games of times past.

  • @aman1016

Doesn't explain "Balance Game" too well. It got a complete makeover, down to rules.

Hurdles could come out of retirement, if they really wanted it to.

I think "Rat Race" sort of brings back that missing piece of nostalgia.

  • This must be a rare event on the show. Evvon, a British contestant in this clip, is among the first to appear on the US version of TPIR (I think).
