I was considering a Yaseu 857d for my next rig and the vhf performance of your rig sealed the deal! I wanted 100 watts on the HF bands with all mode capability on 6m, 2m, and 440... NICE rig!
Awesome vid guys, totally inspired me to get on 6m and 2m for the CQ WW VHF contest. Made close to 100 contacts with poor conditions on our first attempt from EN52. Thanks for getting me motivated and hope to work both of you soon!
Not bad, with it on max power save and a full charge i can manage about 4.5 hours of use. considering our opereating window was so small, the ease of logging was a good reason to carry it with me.
Thanks for the comments everyone, we had a blast even tho rain came in and forced us to pack up. We made some great contacts and its always nice getting away from everything up on a mountain and just having fun with the radios.
Great video, 6m was insane last week. I was hitting TX and CO from EM79xs. These "pocket knife" radios (857, 897, IC-7000) are insanely portable and fun.
I got to play around with 6m for the first time during the VHF Contest and logged my first 6m contacts. I was using a home brew 6m dipole. Lots of fun.
I am in Central Oregon right now for a short trip. Just for fun I stopped at one of the mountain passes (4800') and set-up my dipole to see if the band was open. I was quite surprised with a couple of quick contacts to San Diego, CA and Nevada . . . very exciting!
wow you sure made some great contacts. that looked like you two had a blast together. its also much nicer being in such a beautiful setting and having fun like that. i know that rush feeling you get when you make a great contact. who needs skydiving!?!
awesome, great to see your enthusiasm

The 70cm and 2m are both Arrow Antenna's.
The 6m beam is unknown, But its a fairly old backpacking beam thats pretty light weight.
