To the people who are so anti-Chinese and anti-India, they did not "STEAL" your jobs. They were offered. It's our capitalist system at work. The CEO sees their labor is cheaper, so they go there. Those people are just doing what they do to survive. The person you should place your blame on are the rich people in our own country who don't want to pay you a decent wage. Not the foreigners. And who says you can't match their price? The CEOs would hire you. It's just you can't live on what they offer
One thing this video failed to mention:Clinton administration's impact with trade. Once Clinton signed the trade pact with China in 1999, even more jobs left US.
@tmf1977 It really was a joint venture of Both Reps and Dems that killed the American Dream.. Republicans sponsored the Free Trade China bills. They were the majority in both House and Senate in 1999. Then they voted overwhelmingly for Permanent Free Trade China telling the American people the deal would bring more export jobs to China. Then Bill Clinton, signed PNTR China into law, just like he did when he opposed the unions and signed NAFTA in 1993.
When you outsource your well paying jobs to cheap overseas labor you also have transformed that outsourced well paying job into a non-well paying job, thus as a result your outsourcing creates unemployment w/c creates a reduced consumer market because unemployment = no spending income & at the same time destroyed the original high spending income level of the outsourced jobs w/c creates small local markets only or no markets at all & in the long term creates a diminishing returns of investments!
Damn. What a slap to the face of every currently unemployed american. We give our jobs to a bunch of people in China we've never met only so they lose them and suffer unemployment like us?
@2bjjones That and India as well. India pretty much stole customer service jobs and the service is horrible! @hazellina07 i meant it because they're trying to make us feel sorry for them. We should first fix our country before we worry about anyone else. Do you think they give two shits about us?
Whats gonna be our new sector to create jobs? how about we save jobs by securing our southern border of the 25 million illegal immigrants that work in the USA im willing to bet atleast 50% of their salary is sent back across the border to mexico...tell Obama to quit playing politics for hispanic votes and do what the federal government is supposed to do ENFORCE LAWS! as for BUSH he had the government for 8 years and he expanded it. for me as a conservative this is an EPIC FAIL
@TexasRaTleSnake316 i like see you get some white boys to go out in the fields and pick apples. in washington state, the apple industry wouldnt exist without illegal workers because we wouldnt be globally competitive, especially now that they are cracking down on h2a visas. and our borders?? ha! we cant even keep an eye on the borders between el paso and juarez, where are we going to get the money to secure the ENTIRE border, especially since we've blown 100's of billions of dollars in iraq?
@TexasRaTleSnake316 I agree totally. It's not like we don't have the work force to do the jobs the illegals are, they are called welfare collectors. Since government and state funds are paying them, they should be working . An honest days work picking apples may restore some of their self worth.
@NikovK Human labor should be expensive. It is essentially a person giving his life in return for money.
Having reliable work, and living in poverty is no better than not having reliable work and living in poverty. In fact, it's worse IMO.
US labor unions have no real power anymore anyways. I live in a industrial area in the US. The only way to get industrial work is to be pimped out by temp agencies, and the temp agencies pay minimum wage, and work you for only a few weeks at a time.
@ektrules Any income is better than no income, because to live on what someone hands you is patronage, not citizenship. This is coming from someone who hasn't been able to get a job in nearly a year.
I know your first two sentences are practically straight from the Communist Manifesto, so I'm not sure if this conversation has a chance to go anywhere.
@NikovK LOL, I've never read the Communist Manifesto. I may have to though. Marx seems to agree with me on a lot :) I don't understand what you don't agree with in my first two sentences. A human's life isn't worth much? People should be payed just enough to survive? Why don't you work at McDonald's, or through a temp agency? Or go work in the fields? Maybe you should move to Mexico, I hear there's a lot of factories being built there. Employment is living on what someone hands you.
@ektrules "Human labor should be expensive." We SHOULD also all be rich and living on the moon by now, guess what? What you or anyone else thinks SHOULD happen doesn't mean anything, all that matters is what is REAL. Human labour is cheap because people breed like rabbits and there are ever more ways that we can get a machine to do something more precisely and cheaply then a person. If you force labour to be expensive then people will have no jobs. Nobody wants to work, but they all want to eat.
@Hashishin13 Touche. I do think people have a drive to "work" though. It may not be what they're forced to do to make a living, but I think people have a need to create, solve problems, help others, etc
I think if you force labor to be expensive, they'll be less unimportant work being done, an incentive to find more efficient ways of doing things, less time spent on work people don't care about, and more time spent on more interesting things. Low labor costs are disincentives to progress.
@ektrules Yea those are the benefits of labour scarcity, up in the arctic or antarctic where it costs a ton to live and to get stuff and people to and from, that is the situation. In the rest of the world, everyone wants to have kids and the religious nuts and the poorest people on earth have a ton of them, so labour is dirt cheap. The fact that we can easily mechanize most tedious jobs is not lost on me, its lost on the poor who keep breeding instead of building and educating.
If i could take you through my city you'd see what exporting buisness does. Used to be a booming city, Lockheed Martin manufacturing, GM, Glass factories... well guess what we fucking have now, Meth, Crack, Guns, Violence... FUCK YOU TO ALL YOU COCK SUCKING POLITICIANS
I just hope that everyone doesn't start killing them self like the depression 1929 crash :I makes you think how different every ones lives would be if the recession didn't happen

@Hashishin13 , well I see your point , you care about your people and you should do something about , without a fight you will never get what you want in life, struggle to reach a better world
"The Negro is indolent and lazy, and spends his money on frivolities, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent."- Che Guevara
"Mexicans are a band of illiterate Indians." - Che Guevara
In comi Russia, you fought over that last few items in all of the shelf of most if not all the stores.
All things being relative. In the USA if you lose your job you'll still receive $250+ a week in unemployment benefits for a year. Most Asian laborers work 60 hours a week to earn about $35. Us Americans worry and whine about a situation that common laborers in Asia would die for. It IS all relative. Globalization will definitely make us "1st worlders" re-think how good we've had it for the last 3 or 4 generations. I thank God every day that I was born American. We're Lucky Bastards!
We've even banned Pseudophed and driven all the "mom and pop" Meth labs across the border to Mexico and Colombia. No joke, Meth is a multi-BILLION dollar industry and that money was going into the pockets of poor whites and Mexican immigrants right here at home where small business is already hurting, as are the lower educated workers and unemployed!
We've also outsourced a lot of other "black market" and "underground" jobs!
As a child of the 50's I got to see the American "haydays"! When I was born the USA's GDP was equal to the rest of the world's combined! Hard to believe, now that we're a debtor nation but we did it to ourselves, and some circumstances beyond our control. The anger and protests against "Globalization", etc. are like getting mad at the weather. American middle class was something we always took for granted but was actually an illusion. We came out of WW2 as the Luckiest of the victors...
cont.- We (USA) lived off the fat that we collected from 1940 to 45. It couldn't last. Do you realize that we are mostly living in HUGE homes or apartments as single families? We take that luxury for granted. Just imagine that if we lived as extended families (like the rest of the world) how much our household income would be! If 3 typical American families lived together, say 10 people, we could EASILY have household incomes of $200,000 per year. Nice cars, TV's, Cell Phones, Computers..
cont.2- Americans will have to adjust in the next century and say good bye to the middle class as we currently know it. However, we can maintain an outrageous (by world standards) standard of living! Adjustments will be rough, but if we don't fight the obvious we can still have it all by just making a couple of adjustments. We're STILL RICH!! Don't panic or get angry, just get used to the modern world. America of 1955 is long gone, remember it fondly...
the poor fools who could not afford a trailer house,
and yet some how got loans which they WELL KNEW that they could not pay for,and then went off and bought a mini mansion should all be kicked into the streets as they caused they this housing housing crisis. yes it was part of the bankers fault it happened, but the fools who abuses the system truly cause the down fall.
This is what the Chinese governments wants...to shift their workforce away from low skill labor ( sports shoes, trinkets, toys) to high skills manufacturing ( airplanes, iphones, high speed rail )
The economy in a nutshell. My family owns a pallet company. The economy slows so people are not buying stuff so the factories dont buy many pallets. In turn we stop buying lumber and nails. The lumber and nail industry suffers and they stop buying saw blades and start to lay off workers. Those workers probrably had debt and now they cant pay so they try to look for side jobs, and in the end turn to illegal activities.
Most people say China owns the U.S. because of all the borrowed money we own them, but in reality we have them by the balls. It is simple they would not be at the level they are at if it wasent for us and we can also collapse their economy.
@laetrille Wrong!, you need to watch the video again. He said "Chinese are still savers", and they are not spending their money. I have been there, and I can testify this is true. You are wrong, because all the goods that is being ship to the US will be now buy by the Chinese. The government wants to stimulate internal markets. Even though that does not happen, Chinese have savings, they can deal with the short term ramifications of that.
@laetrille Yea but you are missing the point, they are a communist dictatorship and the US is a "democracy". They don't have to give two shits about their people, hence the whole no rights thing, on the other hand the American two party dictatorship could loose everything if the people wake the fuck up and then realize how the gov has fucked them.
What do we do next? We put unemployed car factory workers back to work manufacturing green technologies and lift ourselves out of this enormous hole we created.
@a1stbornunicorn That will never happen. Green technology requires education and American youth are too naive , greedy, and stupid to handle the responsibilities of green industries. One would rather be successful at teaching Americans basic survival skills like farming since most of our suburban minds have no sense of such skills. See what this investment in media, hollywood, sports, and all the other useless ammenities have gotten us. HEY DAD THANKS FOR BUYING THAT BOAT INSTEAD MY EDUCATION!
america could go to an all out war like in ww2 where they sold a shit load of war bonds and made billions they needed to fund the wars and also have enough left to loose a war and fund a country to run a war.
And you know the funny thing about the rate you are being paid is the same if not less when you factor in the 2.5 -3% of inflation tacked onto your currency every year. Thus in reality the 11$ that you are being paid now is really the 3.65$ 14 years ago.
@repo1911 Its cause the people who resell it in the US take like 75% of the cost of the good as their profit and then 20% of what was left is the cost of shipping it halfway around the world.
first of all ronald reagan past the right to work act that destroyed unions right to have only union workers on the job.i worked for low income houseing in new york,in construction 1991
and was in union and was screwed out of benefits and pay because the mob got to come in with payoffs to them from construction companies and hire whoever and is still going on today with 608 carpenters threats of killing you.
kill all mobsters and gangsters.thats my solution to improve the economy. that way the economy can be more productive.oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Thank you for this smart, insightful, educated & global analysis. I read ravenously and this short film superbly sums up the current global economic situation. Great work!
The question is if China can sell their own production to it's own people, and USA does not have the money to buy their products nor the factories, What do we do next?
Looks like the global elite have sunk another country. Anyone want to wager the elite sink their fangs into Africa next? Chinese government is moving to infrastructure as a bridge till things pick up. Sounds like this country, build a road or another stadium and we'll all feel better. People I work with are still dumping money into a 401k plan thinking it will pay off. They just don't get it.
Imagine where we would be if we kept manufacturing in The USA.
We wouldn't be watching this video waiting for our government cheese!
Chances are you still have your job but you are not confident you will keep it for long. is that any way to live?
Do something about it write your congessman & senators to support HR 1207 Audit the FED. Its no quick fix but it's a start. Go to Campaign for Libery and learn what you can do to make a REAL CHANGE!!!!!!!
I fail to see (at least based on this video) how "political reforms" (described here as introduction of "human rights") would resolve the effects of the global economic crisis and China's economic dependence on US foreign investment. I am not saying "human rights" is bad (although it doesn't necessarily include "labour rights", as witnessed in India...), but is that going to create more jobs or somehow revolutionize a global economy based on consumption?
Haha. that woman says that if there isn't jobs for workers, then there would be problem for leaders. Communism have been in power what, 60 years.
TexasRaTleSnake316 1 year ago

No mention of labor unions in the US having a role in making US labor expensive. Its all blamed on the Vietnam war.
NikovK 1 year ago
@NikovK Human labor should be expensive. It is essentially a person giving his life in return for money.
Having reliable work, and living in poverty is no better than not having reliable work and living in poverty. In fact, it's worse IMO.
US labor unions have no real power anymore anyways. I live in a industrial area in the US. The only way to get industrial work is to be pimped out by temp agencies, and the temp agencies pay minimum wage, and work you for only a few weeks at a time.
ektrules 1 year ago
@ektrules Any income is better than no income, because to live on what someone hands you is patronage, not citizenship. This is coming from someone who hasn't been able to get a job in nearly a year.
I know your first two sentences are practically straight from the Communist Manifesto, so I'm not sure if this conversation has a chance to go anywhere.
NikovK 1 year ago
@NikovK LOL, I've never read the Communist Manifesto. I may have to though. Marx seems to agree with me on a lot :) I don't understand what you don't agree with in my first two sentences. A human's life isn't worth much? People should be payed just enough to survive? Why don't you work at McDonald's, or through a temp agency? Or go work in the fields? Maybe you should move to Mexico, I hear there's a lot of factories being built there. Employment is living on what someone hands you.
ektrules 1 year ago
@ektrules I agree.
09vl1603 1 year ago
@ektrules "Human labor should be expensive." We SHOULD also all be rich and living on the moon by now, guess what? What you or anyone else thinks SHOULD happen doesn't mean anything, all that matters is what is REAL. Human labour is cheap because people breed like rabbits and there are ever more ways that we can get a machine to do something more precisely and cheaply then a person. If you force labour to be expensive then people will have no jobs. Nobody wants to work, but they all want to eat.
Hashishin13 1 year ago
@Hashishin13 Touche. I do think people have a drive to "work" though. It may not be what they're forced to do to make a living, but I think people have a need to create, solve problems, help others, etc
I think if you force labor to be expensive, they'll be less unimportant work being done, an incentive to find more efficient ways of doing things, less time spent on work people don't care about, and more time spent on more interesting things. Low labor costs are disincentives to progress.
ektrules 1 year ago
@ektrules Yea those are the benefits of labour scarcity, up in the arctic or antarctic where it costs a ton to live and to get stuff and people to and from, that is the situation. In the rest of the world, everyone wants to have kids and the religious nuts and the poorest people on earth have a ton of them, so labour is dirt cheap. The fact that we can easily mechanize most tedious jobs is not lost on me, its lost on the poor who keep breeding instead of building and educating.

We came out of WW2 as the Luckiest of the victors...
randy95023 2 years ago 2
cont.- We (USA) lived off the fat that we collected from 1940 to 45. Nice cars, TV's, Cell Phones, Computers..
randy95023 2 years ago
cont.2- Americans will have to adjust in the next century and say good bye to the middle class as we currently know it.

This is what the Chinese governments wants...to shift their workforce away from low skill labor ( sports shoes, trinkets, toys) to high skills manufacturing ( airplanes, iphones, high speed rail )
fdotlove1 2 years ago
The economy in a nutshell. My family owns a pallet company. The economy slows so people are not buying stuff so the factories dont buy many pallets. In turn we stop buying lumber and nails. The lumber and nail industry suffers and they stop buying saw blades and start to lay off workers. Those workers probrably had debt and now they cant pay so they try to look for side jobs, and in the end turn to illegal activities.
laetrille 2 years ago
Most people say China owns the U.S. because of all the borrowed money we own them, but in reality we have them by the balls. It is simple they would not be at the level they are at if it wasent for us and we can also collapse their economy.
laetrille 2 years ago
@laetrille Wrong!, you need to watch the video again. He said "Chinese are still savers", and they are not spending their money. I have been there, and I can testify this is true. You are wrong, because all the goods that is being ship to the US will be now buy by the Chinese. The government wants to stimulate internal markets. Even though that does not happen, Chinese have savings, they can deal with the short term ramifications of that.
agfigueroaa 2 years ago
@laetrille Yea but you are missing the point, they are a communist dictatorship and the US is a "democracy". They don't have to give two shits about their people, hence the whole no rights thing, on the other hand the American two party dictatorship could loose everything if the people wake the fuck up and then realize how the gov has fucked them.

What do we do next? We put unemployed car factory workers back to work manufacturing green technologies and lift ourselves out of this enormous hole we created.
a1stbornunicorn 2 years ago 11
@a1stbornunicorn That will never happen. Green technology requires education and American youth are too naive , greedy, and stupid to handle the responsibilities of green industries. And you know the funny thing about the rate you are being paid is the same if not less when you factor in the 2.5 -3% of inflation tacked onto your currency every year. Thus in reality the 11$ that you are being paid now is really the 3.65$ 14 years ago.
