Oct 19 1968 I was a 14 year old freshman. This was my very first rock concert. I tagged along with my older sister and her friends. I had never heard of Cream before that night. To say I was blown away by the experience is a major understatement. They are by far the best rock band I have seen. In a way it's too bad because this band spoiled me for all the rest. Out of the dozens of concerts I have attended since only Elvis in '72 comes close.
I don't get why bands this good crumble, its criminal! You just want them to continue on forever, but I suppose it can't be. Excellent recording, damn!! I'm so glad I listened to this!
@sean2me : I truly have the BEST memories of this group, having visited them in their hotel room in New York in early 1968. Besides candid pictures of the visit, I managed a pair of drum sticks from Ginger and my treasured, fully autographed Disraeli Gears album. Because of Ginger, I purchased a Gretsch double bass drum kit to wail on and practiced to all of their songs. The best times for sure!
i dont know. this might be the best group ever. it a toss up between cream and the jimi hendrix expirence. but ginger baker is not a human. and jack bruce his voice and bass playing are unreal i mean my god. i dont have to say anything about clapton.
@bb1111116 Thank you. I'm so damn sick and tired of hearing people invent reasons as to why Clapton isn't all that great. No, he's awesome. His work is incredible. If you don't like that he does the blues, than blame the genre, not the man.
Clapton is so clean, so precise. My favorite player of all time.
From "6:40 "On ,Ginger is Rolling like Kong Off the Empire: & In time. No drummers today could pull that off [in this piece],w/ such dexterity Including, His Son ,ALL RESPECT-Be Glad....
Listen to "Deserted Cities of the Heart" for another example of an outstanding song. It's not as well known as some of the others they recorded, probably due to hardly any airplay at the time.
Roll Over Beethoven ! ! ! Hey Eric, Jack & Ginger...I AM SURE THAT YOU GO ONTO YOU-TUBE....YOU GOTTA KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT ONLY A TRIBUTE TO THE EARLIEST ROOTS OF ROCK& ROLL ... BLUES, BUT YOU GUYS MUST KNOW THAT THIS IS THE CREAM OF ALL MUSIC , THE BEST THAT THERE IS ! THANK YOU GUYS FOR THIS! THE PINICLE OF HUMAN ACHIEVEMENT ! does anyone have a video of this?

Just listen to Ginger go!!!!! He's got the lot, master of the rudiments, groove, timing, rhythm, power, natural swing, brilliant improviser. FUCKING LEGEND HE IS
I truly and full ybelieve that this final version of this classic song is the greatest piece of music ever recorded. I bought the MFSL cd, my feedback was 'a superhuman performance' A perfect choice for Cream Goodbye. The Pieta of Rock & Roll...42 years of this piece, that is my choice! Show me something better ! ! !
@fredschmidt100 ....you ain't alone good buddy....I love a lot of different kinds of music but this track is supernatural....gives me shivers everytime.......the other two live tracks on this album are also treasures......all the best mate :)
Three men blowing free. This recording has been a musical inspiration to me for the past 41 years.
It still amazes me how much sound was created by only three people (I'm not talking volume here, folks). Jack Bruce taking-off at 4.24 and the telepathic tempo change at 6.42. Wonderful!
@Rich6Brew Three men that sounded like ten.Refreshing,they didn't need the cannons,pyros,props,twelve dancers,lasers,multi-platforms,stage designers,and a thousand lights.Great performance.
@whereamigoingnow I think you have nailed it. The music alone produced by these 3 just speaks for itself, end of. I hope they may work together again sometime.
Only 30 years, I love music, real good music like this one. I feel not happy for not growing up during those great music years. And feel a shame for today's generation for not being able to like or discover this great music. If they did, would have better bands.
I think that Live Cream, Live Cream Volume 2 should be reissued as a double album with 6-8 previously unreleased tracks that may still be on tape somewhere
@supsailor1885 He, was a strong Instrumentalist here In this Group .I, saw them Live and He was Definetly ON FIRE and the Leader In some ways and Great Lyricist . Great BASS Musician etc. He ,could most likely give Ole Eric a run on anything. It ,was about Pushing each other's Limits and keep it Together-Yes they Did.. . Bands today can Dream but no future Cream -sorry...
I remember buying Goodbye Cream after I had seen them on their last tour in Phila. and listening to this and thinking that I wasn't glad at all. How ironic my beloved band was defunct.
@ftediously I agree, but at least you got to see them! I saw Clapton on his 461 Ocean Blvd tour in '74, and Bruce in West, Bruce, and Laing in '72, but neither was close to Cream.
