"were really creating a technology that anybody can use"
Anybody? Want to put that to the test.? A poor pastor or missionary in a poor country where expensive proprietary operating systems are not an option. He or she has access to a computer that runs a Linux distribution.
Can that person run it?
No.
That person doesn't represent a market demographic that Logos can profit from.
I couldn't afford the Scholar's Library Gold but I want to eventually get it later when I get a job. I did buy the regular Bible software for mac. I'm excited about it. Later I'll get the gold eventually when God blesses me with the money.
There is no need to pirate Logos when e-Sword is currently free and powerful enough to give Logos a run for the money. - Logos is worth every penny considering how much I paid for some of my books.
I found it very expensive too; but, I bit the bullet, and purchased the software. While not cheap, it is well worth the money. I'll have to pay about $150 to upgrade to 4, but, I must say, that is far cheaper than what other's charge to upgrade their's.
Keep in mind, even at $630 for the Scholar version that still comes out to about $2 a title. Considering I paid E-sword $30 just for the TNIV family, this is exceptionally valued.
I've always been comfortable buying 100.00 to 500.00 bibles and tools, they are what they are, and this software is Highway Robbery, period, and I still would have NO problem with God in installing a pirated Copy.
In fact I'm happy to use anyone who's copy they can duplicate for me, and for that matter I'd be happy to go into a Co-Opt with a group of people and we all share our portion of the copy.
Nike shoes cost 6 cents a pair to make. They sell them for nearly $200 a pair. Is it ok for me to go to the store and take them, because their cost does not justify their price?
I'm not justifying their price. I'm simply saying, if you can't or won't pay their asking price, don't buy it. Or, better yet, don't steal it.
If you knew kike shoes cost 6 cents and people were in bondage and were treated without dignity, you should do the right thing and not support the slavery... simple - Don't buy them... The point is not connected to the issue here.
The point is precisely the same. Two companies paying next to nothing for something, charging a huge fee. You feel it is ok to steal from the one selling the Bible, because they charge a lot for something, but, would never steal from the other.
I agree, to some extent, they charge much more than they should. But, I also know, what this software can do saves so much time, and offers quite a bit. But, it goes back to what you said: if you dont like it, dont buy it. In your case, dont steal it.
Not the same and I would not be stealing if I came across a Pirated or original copy and I would take it with out a problem and Know God would not hold me blameworthy.
Tell that to the lady who was penalized millions of dollars for what her kids downloaded.
Tell that to the courts.
And, if you have the cahoneys to tell God you didn't steal, then so be it. You have to give an account for your actions. Not me. I have enough to give account for my own self than to worry about what someone else does
I'm not accountable for another individual in most cases, and I could care less what mans demonic God damned courts have to say with anything against Godly Fundamental issues, I willingly break ALL their laws and if they try to stop me I will kill over my RIGHT to DIS-OBEY all their satanic doctrine.
You'd have to PROVE that this is what we are talking about would be STEALING and that IT would incur a PENALTY for me which I would or should be concerned about paying... anyway, glad your done.
If someone has legitimately obtained a copy & gives it to another then that is not stealing. Its called SHARING. Greedy men do not want others to SHARE. FACT: they revamped their software to be UNSHAREABLE to those not fully trustworthy. What a shame on them. I have family whom I love but do not fully trust, so I can't even share this new (per)version with them. The Creator isn't even that evil to think of not making His Book of Life freely available because most are a people He doesn't trust.
The keyword here is legitimately What the other poster speaks of is illegal copying of software simply because they dont agree with the price
Logos has assembled some of the best out of print materials available And in some cases current copyrighted materials (eg TNIV)
They have to pay for the team to assemble the materials to work properly pay their employees to offer some of the best support available anywhere and make a profit too
It is expensive but for the time it saves its worth it
It doesn't matter if you feel that it would be okay with God if you pirated this software. This issue is about being "above reproach". This means not doing things that may even resemble sin. As a Christian (especially if you're a pastor) you need to be an example to the Christian life. You should not be doing and saying things that people may find wrong or sinful, even when you can justify them. That simple. ABOVE reproach.
What is sin you ask? That's when we fail to hit the mark God has set. Within marriage he as established that it be between a man and one woman. If you have two wives at the same time, you've failed to hit the mark set by God and are actively in sin.
Its not a sin to charge any amount. Maybe you should read the story of the Labourers In The Vineyard. But it does say to freely give as you freely receive. And we're merely talking about bits and bytes of known knowledge. If you AGREE to a price then it is NOT/and COULD NOT be a sin to charge one a substantial amount or another an insubstantial amount. Simply do not agree to a price and find another way like SHARING, bargaining or splitting cost etc.
I have Scholar's Library Gold. This program is so big I don't think I will ever utilize all of its features. I don't know near enough about it and want to learn more. I would love to go to both of Morris Proctor's seminars but can't afford it. Anyway, Logos is a fantastic product. If you want the best...buy Scholar's Library Gold. I guarantee you will not be disappointed

It's a sin to charge that much, I'm willing to snag a pirated copy free of charge.

They are the ones who are thieves...

Perfectly comfortable in my position.
Cabanas751Dunhill 2 years ago
Perhaps they are thieves; but, perhaps not.
Have you ever considered the cost of assembling everything, hiring the employees to provide the customer support they offer?
Have you considered the fact that they do every thing possible to ensure your library is good for many many years to come?
Have you considered the fact that these libraries contain hundreds of titles that work out to less than $2 a title?
If you can stand before God and feel justified to steal; thats between you & God.
legendsofbatman 2 years ago
Sure, and I have many items in my collection worth thousands and thousands. But that's not the point.
Their cost point does not justify any service and support.
It's not stealing.
And not all theft is punishable.
And Theft is not a capitol offense.
Many things to consider before you speak to me about justifying the price for this system.
Cabanas751Dunhill 2 years ago
And how many of those items did you pay for?

Is it possible for me to NOT sin while having two wives?

@frostykind Incorrect. Try again, this time with the whole counsel of God instead of your precepts of mans teaching.
