  • Nah man, this is far from the first... Buddy Ingersoll in the late 80's started the big numbers with a twin turbo V6 Gran National... Since then guys like Tim Lynch, Jim Weins, and several other very notable drivers and builders have made monster HP and incredible ET times... And that's just the American Muscle guys... Of course let's not forget imports have made very impressive numbers too since the early 90's...

  • Okay nissan guy shut the hell up because this video is about a turbo camaro. I have a datsun zx and i adore it but i clicked this vid to watch and read about a camaro like the title implies...

  • hell, I don't care who you are 7.87 is fast TODAY let alone 6 years ago. Are there faster doorslammers? yeah but there are more slower than a 7.87 than faster...

  • perfect song

  • i love the dragway shit it funn as hell my uncle races there wit his chevelle

  • nice car check out 13racerx 's videos

  • That announcer don't have big balls

  • i usually prefer supercharger for muscle.

but for any other car thats not a V8 i use turbo

  • I think the announcer probably had a coronary..THIS IS FOR REAL no sh*t sherlock...nick is a cool guy though even though my car is quicker.

  • this prob isnt the first camaro EVER made but its prob the fastest. I've always wondered why ppl choose supercharges over turbo.

  • Superchargers in MY opinion are better, Especially for daily drivers.

  • Hey, why do you say that Supers are better than Turbos? Just asking?

  • for daily driverss// i disagree, turbos get better gas.still have a ton of power..and are more durable..at a track however.i would probably go supercharged.

  • yeah diesels has had turbos since late 60s but before recently a carburated application meant a "roots" supercharger but i had a honda "ricer" for a while but the imports are getting scared cuz american muscle is back baby

  • damn i think byron has the most annoying announcer ever

  • hmmm so in 2004 "turbos" wer a new idea in the performance world?

thats pretty interesting, considering Nissan was putting them on FACTORY CARS 20 FUCKING YEARS PRIOR

where do you people get this shit?

  • 1st TURBO CAMARO?

1st read the title it says Camaro with a ??? Second this isnt a Nissan screw riser shyt......... And finally this wasnt in 2004 it was later that that,Not that that matters,This DOOR SLAMMER went sub 8 seconds before turbos were the bomb ,If you were into racing at all you would know that turbos were late on the scene becauce of the turbo lag and nitrous was were it was at for many many years........................

  • that's true....

Turbos just recently gotten popular with non sport compact dragsters.....

Turbos now a days spool up quicker and people have also come up with techniques to build up boost.

  • uhhh well they were used here in aus (Nissan Skyline R32 GTR) in the late early 90's in the bathurst 1000 races and they absolutely dominated the V8s... so i dont see how thats "late on the scene".. turbos are now banned from the race lol...

  • they said "performance" YOU said Nissan... let's compare apples to apples buddy...

  • @buryyourdead81 Nissan?!?! You're a chicken kicking inbred moron. WTF does this video have to do with Nissans? Go get your import and line up next to Scavo you taint sniffing sister humper. This video is titled, "1st TURBO CAMARO?". What part of Camaro don't you understand?

  • @buryyourdead81 nissan has been putting them on cars for 20 years, BUT GM was the first to put them on production cars in 1962: the Oldsmobile F85 Jetfire and the Corvair Monza Spyder. Too bad they didn't keep it up. Could you imagine a L-88 427 or LS6 (in 1970 it was a 454 BBC) coming with a factory turbo?!?!?

  • @buryyourdead81 The turbocharger was invented by Swiss engineer Alfred Büchi. His patent for a turbocharger was applied for use in 1905.[1] Diesel ships and locomotives with turbochargers began appearing in the 1920s.

Not to mention all your groceries and goods have been carried by diesel trucks with turbos for decades.

Pontiac had a Turbo V8 Trans Am in 1980. It was a huge turd. The 301 was a joke to begin with. Then they put a small amount of boost to make it "fast".

  • I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you "think" Hot Cars are Riceburners with a 5 inch tail pipe and cool intake tube with some pretty blue lights under the car .. but if your old enough to have ever been to the Drag strip in say the 70s or even 80 & 90s you would know without question that Turbos were NOT the rage , Yes they have all been used in SCCA type racing were tiny little 1.8 liter motors needed them to crank out enough HP to call it a race and they worked well .

  • I know nick met him at Orlando back in 2004 on this pass sounds like the tranny was slipping..Nice guy nick is.( I think he repairs dishwashers or appliances he told me)

  • Your correct they had some issues..........Still bad azz tho !

  • The announcer made everyone there expect low 6's or something

  • Well this was before everyone and there uncle slapped a turbo on there car and 7.80s with what looks to be a slow 60ft is not to shabby.....

  • I wish the announcer would follow is own advice @ 0:25 stfu!

  • ya at the 1/8

  • idiot
