God is offended by receiving Him on "dirty" hands(ONLY priest can touch Him) in the Holy Eucharist!
Only accepted by Heaven form of receiving living Heart of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist of the Catholic Church is into our mouth and on our both knees!
If we do not convert the sinner, we are being incredibly uncharitable. Look at all the Saints. They condemned sin. You must be charitable to your neighbour...by converting him from his wicked sins! One mortal sin lands you in hell. Just one! God has demanded we worship in a certain fashion through his Church. To deny this is to deny Catholic dogma.
@tognaam Our Lord is then our Head. Now St. Thomas distinguishes a twofold function of the grace of Headship, analogous to the double role exercised by the head with regard to the members of the body.
@tognaam OUR supernatural life of Divine Grace comes to us from Our Lord Jesus Christ, Head of His Mystical Body, the Catholic Church, while we continue to receive our disordered natural life from the first Adam. "For, if by one man's offence, death reigned through one: much more they who receive abundance of grace, and of the gift, and of justice, shall reign in life through one Jesus Christ" (Rom. v. 17).
This is one of the most beautiful hymns ever writeen - it expresses the heart of our faith.I didn't think I would like this rendition with the instrumentation but it was actually very nice! Somehow you can't do this hymn incorrectly.
@tognaam I love you so much that I put up with trying to convert you. Your notion of obedience is twisted. We must obey God before men. If the Pope told you to slit your throat and stab yourself in the belly would you do it? Then why commit spiritual suicide just because the Pope tells you to?
@WeepingStellaMaris This statement itself is pretty funny, as it specifically states within the Bible to not try to convert people, but instead pray for them. To not criticize, but accept. Hopefully you understand then how hilariously ironic everything you have said is. Maybe you should try reading your own Bible?
@antari363 They therefore being brought on their way by the church, passed through Phenice, and Samaria, relating the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren. --Acts 15:3
Look at how these women are dressed. What an abomination. But it doesn't surprise me after I hear what kind of music they deem appropriate for our Lord. It is secular, quite secular, like any other rock song. Our Lord never changes. Neither does the Mass or the way we worship or what he demands of us. He is the supreme King and Judge and you will have to answer for this awful music on Judgment Day. He will accuse you of helping to destroy his bride, the Church.
Hello. This is a glorious performance and praise. Do u have an mp3 recording of this? Was there a direct recording made from the soundboard? This is great.
gosh im cryin already...really missing me grandparents. grandpa was a catechist for the only catholic church in niue island & nan both a strong catholic ... gosh if only they lived longer n life wasnt hard back then arghhhh
I do not know your problem jesusthroughmary. You are trying change people to worship the way you want it. Go to the black churches, they worship according to their background. Go to Latino churches, they do according to theirs. I even went to Rome, the Italians are different. Can I tell them that is not how it is done in America? There is a saying that many Catholics missed heaven by eight inches. It is the distance between the brain and the heart.
He is only confirming what the Church has taught for 2,000 years. In the Mass their are guidlines for the celebrant(s) on how to conduct Holy Mass. Thease are found in Cannon Law and various other Papal and Episcopal mandates and encyclicals.
I am no longer Roman Catholic but I grew up on music like this and missed it so much that I have introduced it to my new congregation. This particular hymn is sung in over 20 languages around the world. It offers a verbatim account of the promise Jesus made to Mary & Martha at the death of Lazarus. We will be singing this tomorrow as we lay my father-in-law to rest., which is how I came to be searching for it today. I enjoy the offerings of this choir on Youtube and look for them often.
Thank you for your kind words. I will pray for the soul of your father in law his spirit be accepted in the kingdom of God and that the Lord will bestow unto him His mercy.
It depends on whether you believe the true presence in the Eucharist. That is the depiction our Lord chose for Himself, and these are His own words! The Mass is worship, and what better way than to sing a holy song with His own words, and praise Him in the Eucharist which He gave us. The Eucharist (Bread of Life) is the center point of the Mass; it is what we go there for.
Thanks for your sharing. If Jesus is in us whether we are Catholic or not, there will be love that is emitting from the heart and will minister to the people that we come across with. Real Christians are not mean and possess the fruit of Spirit which is love, peace, joy etc.
I hope you aren't calling the song self indulgent garbage since the lyrics represent Scripture from the Gospel of St. Johh chapter 6. The words of our Savior, Jesus, no less.
And the people are beautiful as is their delivery of this song.
The lyrics are beautiful and transcendent, as they are the very words of our Lord. The music is utilitarian, banal, and an unworthy medium to transmit the words.
I hope you believe me when I say that I am not trying to engage you in an argument. I'm truly not. And I understand what you're saying. I'd really like to know what you find utilitarian, banal and unworthy. I'm a musician and lead music at times in our church, and I truly would like to pick your brain about it. I have a lot of personal concerns myself about the direction of some church music, but I also realize there must be room for various gifts and types of expression, from elevated to lowly.

I'm not so concerned with the song itself (for the Lord Jesus is the Bread of Life, and all the words are from Scripture) as with the irreverence and self-worship taking place all around the song. The Mass in this video is not about the worship of Our Lord, but about the "wonderful" camaraderie and community forged in the gathering of the people. It's about warm, fuzzy feelings. It falls woefully short of the example of the saints.
Can you elaborate, because it seems like that's reading a whole lot into a video of people singing. How is it not reverent for young people to gather in corporate worship in a style that is meaningful to them? These people obviously obviously feel their actions are pleasing to God. Many styles of worship don't "do it" for me, but I don't feel entitled or compelled to criticize or judge them. There are many gifts, but the same Spirit.
The Sacrifice of the Mass is not a form of worship that we are design according to our own tastes. If one understands the Mass, it is the meaningful act one can undertake, not because of the "style of worship", but because of the one true sacrifice of Christ that is re-presented on the altar. The Church has been diligent in only handing on what she has received; to introduce our own personal tastes into the Mass is to show a grave lack of understanding of the authority of Tradition.
Beautiful ! Thank you! After wandering in my spiritual desert for many years, I attended a Mass and heard this song. It was an important step in my decision to re-enter the Catholic Church. Thank you Jesus for never giving up on me even though I tried to abandon you.
This is absolutely one of the most beautiful, uplifting and inspiring versions of this song that I have ever heard---and I have heard it hundreds of times.
everytime i hear this song, it reafirm my faith to Our Lord, and long to recieve Him in communion. I know my Redeemer lives and i am looking forward to meet him iN the Last Day
The song was originally written to be a communion song, but because the lyrics of the song gives believers hope and assurance if we receive Jesus, it became a popular funeral song. Nowadays, people are used to talk about salvation. Remember, not eveybody who dies can make it to heaven, but only the ones who do the will of the Father...everyone should understand our final destiny.
I'm from Italy, this song is one of the closing songs, of a funeral, same as eagle wings, I was raise that this is never to be spoken of,only at funerals, and holy thursday.
Beautiful hymn. beautiful sung. What a promise Jesus Our Lord left us. On the last day, my mom who lived 100 years, I know Our Lord was with her to the end, because she believed.
I love the up tempo version of this song, great worship!
