I met Julius Eastman in the 1970s and saw him perform a few times. He was a brilliant composer and musician. He worked with people like Petr Kotik and Susan Stenger.
These pieces are actually quite pedestrian compared to some of Eastman's other work. When I was studying music @ SUNY Buffalo in the late 70's, several trumpet players were recruited to play a piece using different lengths of garden hose. There we stood on stage, blowing thru our mouthpieces into garden hose...Julius' arms flailing as he conducted us. I played on a few other of Julius' pieces, some of which appeared on a posthumous CD release. Strange cat, amazing vocalist that few knew about.
I think he also was a singer - he sang in the "Eight Songs for a Mad King" by Peter Maxwell-Davies. I've never heard his music though until now. I will have to go look for more! Thanks for posting it.
R.I.P.!!! He was Such A Genius!!! Give Him the Honour he Earned but don't get as he was Alive!!!

May I ask, what is the title of this piece?

this is "stay on it".
r.i.p. julius. everyone interested in this seek out the "unjust malaise" boxset and buy it immediately, it is a revelation.
