  • I remember 1996 very well, it was the greatest and worst year in hip hop history.

  • This song is the best song to drive to in general, but if you hustle too the song is even better.

  • the 15 people who dislike this song need to face a horrible death immediately

  • I reasonably doubt that,,,, getcha ears cleaned playah

  • Jay kind of sounds like Chuck D at certain times.

  • anyway enough with that political BS dis Jay's best album not better then illimatic imo but it deserves to be mentioned with the top albums.

  • @CAM8689 number 1 album of all time IMO

  • @SogLifeProduction top five material but not my no 1

  • I listened to this album when i found out Take Care got leaked , i like this smooth music its tgan self glorifying bullshit

  • Jay-z Reasonable doubt album is my number one classic of all time!

  • by far jay's best...

  • jay was the shit

  • this album should have been used for American Gangster instead of the one he recorded, all of the songs perfectly relate

  • '96 and forever!!!

  • I never been that dude to say Jay was this or Jay was that because I'm listen to all his albums very close to see whats all this talk about him that I live through and most people go back to this album and I'm not impress at because when I listen to this I have to compare this to other albums out doing the time of this album and to compare it to all eyes on me doggystlye born to die and death certificate this album was above average but not a classic in its time. but to listen to it now and

  • @topdog90U

RD is better than all those albums.

  • @RelaxednCaIm your opinion bro. Stupid, but your opinion. Play of music prove it all you could throw on any track from all eyes on me and everybody know what you playing or a track from life after death the room start jumping. Turn on that chronic and white people know the lyrics, doggystyle and the room feeling it. put on that amerikkka most wanted you goin here a nigga say that's my shit. This here is cool but thats just is coo. stupid opinion bra.

  • @topdog90U lol? so its stupid to have an opinion nowadays? i agree with him this is better than doggystyle , amerikkkaz most wanted, the chronic, all eyez on me and ready to die

  • and MBDTF is the new bible of hip hop, step aside illmatic

YEAH I SAID IT sue me motherfucker

  • @69GUNOT MBDTF better than ILLMATIC? Stop smoking meth and get your head right my dude.

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 Illmatic doesnt have much variety and nas NEVER switches up his flow the whole album, just so repetitive every song same shit with different lyrics, MBDTF is a musical masterpiece where every song has a distinctive feel to it

apparently you cant have your own opinion nowadays without some hip hop elitist stepping in, Illmatic is top 20 for me but MBDTF is 1, Reasonable doubt is top 5

  • @69GUNOT Typical..Illmatic went directly above your head. You probally listened to the flow and instrumentals am I correct? The amount of literary devices Nas used is legendary. Similies, metaphors, analogies, rhetoric, socially charged lyrics, double entendre, and acurate storytelling? Late graduation and College dropout is much better than MBDTF. I know 5 albums off the top of my head better than MBDTF. Illmatic, Food and Liquor, All Eyez on me, Ready to die, and Reasonable doubt top 5

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 Illmatic didnt go over my head, i know all the lyrics to all the songs except like 2, ive listened to it atleast 30 times. MBDTF, CD, LR are all classics but MBDTF is the best and Food and Liquor better than MBDTF? whos the one making absurd statements now? All Eyez On Me is no way better than MBDTF, too much filler, the only albums you listened that are on the same level are Ready To Die, Reasonable Doubt and Illmatic, although id give the edge to MBDTF

  • @69GUNOT LUPE FIASCO food and liquor murders MBDTF in every way possible. I don't want to clown you for making dumb statement. You need to listen to food and liquor, hell the cool too. The cool and food and liquor destroys all of kanye's projects like grenades to a house. Food and liquor is top 3 in my all time hiphop album and for good reason. Lupe is better lyrically than Nas but his storytelling is not on Nas's level which is why ill is still number one. MBDTF is nowhere near "food" and "ill"

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 you just said food and liquor murders mbdtf in every possible and then you dont want to clown me for making a dumb statement? LOL food and liquor murders all kanyes projects? lol no CD, LR and MBDTF are all better and MBDTF is better by a long shot, food and liquor is in ur top 3? ur lupe stanning isnt showing at all..... lol

MBDTF blows food and liquor out the water in every aspect except lyrics FACT, get ur stupid ass outta here saying food and liquor top 3 not even top 50

  • @69GUNOT The COOL ALONE murders kanye's entire discography its not even funny. Lyrically Lupe eats Jayz, let alone Kanye wack ass. Lupe staning? What? Says the Kanye clown defending an overhyped overproduced concept album. GTFOH. Half of the underground can kill Lupe bar for bar. Tech n9ne's six's and sevens eats MBTDF in production and bars! haha. Come on son! stop making a foll out of yourself! You sucking kanye's balls too hard my dude, haha!

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 metacritic:

    food and liquor - 83

    the cool - 77

    mbdtf - 94

    college dropout - 88

    late registration - 86

yeah.... i think id take the word of professional hip hop critics and listeners more over some random dude on the internet thats salty about kanye

you saying that any lupe album is better than mbdtf is laughable

im not going to reply to you anymore because ive got shit to do so bye faggot have a good life, however unlikely that is

  • @69GUNOT HAHA really metacritic? that is your ace in the hole? Half of the kanye fanboys such as yourself don't even know what a lupe fiasco album is. or a tech n9ne album, or any underground mixtapes that would kill kanye's career? You called me a faggot, yet I'm salty? haha. My dude you need to lube to get kanye's dick out of your rectum. If you don't you will get a prolapse. But I'm sure your loose jaw can swallow those balls, quite well. And you don't got shit to do bitch quit lying..

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 thats all youve got LOL some half ass insults?

and yeah metacritic is 100x more credible than anything that comes out of ur stupid mouth

  • @69GUNOT MDBTF is the Album of 2010, kanye's production was top notch, but to say that it is better than illmatic is blasphemous and naive to say. Kanye's bars in MBDTF was average bragadocio, and simple storytelling over stellar production. Still the production on Illmatic still whips MBDTF's ass. Pete rock's soulful production and Nas's lethal bars make it untouchable. MBDTF only has fantastic production, the bars were weak. I respect your opinion even if I disagree with with it. Peace.

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 Illmatic better produced than MBDTF? MBDTF is so musically ahead of hip hop its not even funny. The problem with you is you look at MBDTF as a pure rap album where the only thing that matters are lyrics, its not, its more pop hip hop than rap, you wouldnt say that Illmatic is better than Thriller because better lyrics would you? same thing here

    production - mbdtf

    lyrics - illmatic

    songcraft - mbdtf

    variety - mbdtf

and the bars on mbdtf were far from weak, way above average

  • @69GUNOT You said that MBDTF is the new bible of hiphop, yet you admit that it is not a hip/rap album, it is a pop album? Contradiction much? Pete rock's production on Illmatic is MUCH beter than the overhyped machines, orchestras and bullshit audio programs that Kanye used. Pete used a simple keyboard and two turntables to produce illmatic. Yet the sounds and samples are absolutely perfect. Variety? The lyrics offered enough variety in the entire album. What are you talking about again?

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 i never contradicted myself i said its pop - hip hop album which is a sub genre of hip hop read again, idc if pete used a simple keyboard and two turntables and that kanye used expensive machines, still doesnt change the fact that mbdtf is produced better, and no the lyrics did not have much variety theyre all the same theme and subject

  • @69GUNOT Man its like talking to a lil wayne fan...Illmatic covered the impoverished neighborhood and exploits of Nas. If you didn't grow up in the inner city you will not understand anything nas says. If you grew up in the suburbs you won't get what nas says. You only like an album because of production not the actual lyrics. MBDTF it is a great album PRODUCTION WISE which is not new from kanye west. But number 1 album in ANY GENRE? Hell no, not even top 3.

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 what? so i cant have an opinion nowadays? seriously people like you put old school shit on a pedastool waaay too high, get off that highhorse of yours and accept other peoples opinions cause idc how many albums illmatic influenced or all that other crap all that matters is i enjoy listening to mbdtf more and see it as more high quality work than illmatic

  • @69GUNOT Quote:"im not going to reply to you anymore because ive got shit to do so bye faggot have a good life, however unlikely that is". Yet you still reply to me? I though you had shit to do you lying kanye fanboy? Read one of my previous posts, I said "I respect your opinion, even though I may disagree with it". You have your opinion I have mine. But the insults show what a litlle sensitive bitch you are. I'm finished arguing with you.

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 you insulted me first so right back at you gaykunt

  • @AJEdaAssassin31491 lol i wouldnt even give the production that much credit on mbdtf.

  • damn i love this man......Im soooo proud a fellow VIRGO got him;)

  • @reddreads29 naw nigga a sag

  • @ozakaman lol no I mean Beyonce is a VIRGO

  • feeling this

  • i dedicate this song to me while battling wiht cancer at a young age it came down to money over spiritual wealth i wonder what they chose.politics equals crooked shady mother fuckers FML.right

  • @getrapedpmfl69 yea he still does rap about drugs but hes smarted about it , the whole american gangster was a story . this is why i respect hov so much . all his albums are a classic to me

  • people have to realized that they was change , even he said it that he wasnt going to rap about drugs and guns like this album cus he has a different mindest and as the game evolves so did he , listen to this then listen to blueprint then part 2 , black album kingdom come etc and he evolved and his flow is still soo crazy just because he has a different flow from this to blueprint 3 doesnt mean he fell off it only means he grew as time passed by

  • @istayCAKEDupp he is still rapping about drugs and guns today you guys have to listen to his albums deeper than the singles? he kept it real on all songs except the singles right up untill the blueprint 3, american gangster is one big drug theme come on people, and he doesn't have to rap about dealing to be real and good, he has so many good songs throughout his career, how can you not like vol. 1, vol 2, the black album, la familia, american gangster, the gift the curse

  • this song was before he labeled himself "hova" which is nonsense. This song is just him and the mic. This type of Jay-z needs to come back.

  • thank you

  • the word play in this song is crazy. Makes me sad when I think about how our rap is nowdays

  • personally i think after hearing his in my lifetime i though dat album was more better tham this one but dats my opinion...

  • Played this song everytime making a trip back east back in the day for my hustle. Crazy, seems like a different life way back then now with a kid and family. Nice being taken back there, miss those days, glad I didn't get thrown in the blocks like a lot of my roll dogs and made it. Family guy now, politics as usual

  • he just not as good anymore, and if you think he is you undermine is pass work.No one can always be the best.He is on top now mainly from marketing and illusion. Are you going to tell me he is better lyrically? He is best at rapping about street stuff. That is why he made American Gangster claiming it took him back.He knows he can't get away with it anymore but found away to return to that street rap.

  • Classic shit..!!..reasonable doubt is a timeless album!

  • 9 people are Republicans

  • @odbza HAHAHAHAHA

  • @odbza eeh, i'm Republican, and I love this shit. grew up on this. -_-

  • @odbza republicans want power to the people... democrats want a bigger govt... total opposite of what people think nowadays

  • @lal321ish Repubs and Dems are the different sides of the same wall. There both Imperialists and Corruptists the only difference is one party is too dumb not to show and the other can't do shit.

  • @lal321ish republicans don't want power to the people so much as making sure the govt under democrats don't have power.....both parties are about having control its all in the how and who for that they differ

  • @odbza republicans want power to the people... democrats want a bigger govt... total opposite of what people think nowadays

  • I love shawn cory carter!!!!! Th e best rapper alive hands down!!!!! i want to marry him!! :-)

  • now this is dope. but not cuz of JZ but cuz of the beat prmo made. i love it:X

  • @thebladeful first of all this is a total jay beat, he killed it, second of all not premier it was ski.

  • i wish american gangster had this feel to it, when i heard it was going to be called american gangster... i htought it would. nope.

  • isnt this this from the stylistics?

  • this one of Jay's greatest song from his greatest album ever....Reasonable Doubt is so classic. The lyrics are so clear and full with intelligence that even after 14years im still hearing things i missed back then and i listen to this album yearly...lol

  • CLEAR THE AIR IF YOU COMPARING JAY-Z TO NAS THEN YOU MUST NOW THIS ON MAN 20YRS IN THE GAME HAS AN ALBUM OUT NOW WITH DAIMON MARLEY DO YOU HAVE IT. OR HEARD IT ON THE RADIO ,THE OTHER MAN HAS HIS ALBUM OUT WITH ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND IT'S STILL PLAYING TO DATE..HIS 15YRS IN THE GAME THEY BATTLE AND NAS WON THAT BATTLE..

BUT JAY WON THE WAR BECAUSE HE SIGNS NAS TO THE LABEL..

NAS HAS NOT SOLD OUT A CONCERT SIZE THAT JAY SELL OUT ..(FACT) JAY-Z MADE 64 MILL THIS YEAR AND NAS MADE 12 MILLION .FYI

  • @whoshotya69 Put it like this, it was 1 of the greatest boxing matches in history, it can be a draw or the judges can award either Nas or Jigga or the fans can choose, me i use to say Nas won BUT after really analyzing the situation and how jay had 1 verse 1st, then Nas came at'em but it was'nt hard enough then Jay added another verse and then Nas went in BUT Jay came back with "Super ugly" and "skeeted and left condoms in your childs baby seat." Just imagine the disrespect of that image&line.

  • the kind of hiphop that seems lost to us to today

  • Jay-Z, the best there ever was, when lyrics made sense.. This CD goes hard, u gotta feel it, my grandma might even want a copy

  • the fact jay got people still arguin his place in the rap game says alot he is still on top and the rest of them cats need to step they game up

  • @majorchips

I dunno, i think he shoulda stopped at the Black Album...he hasnt dropped much good music since then, granted he is still better than a lot of these fruit cake bubble gum punk "rappers" that we hear nowadays

  • @bonis317 Cmon on american gangsta is a classic. It will take people 5 more years to realize it...

  • @memhislos co sign

  • @lethalnezzle

you seriously don't know anything if you think the bp3 lacks content and the beat selection is as good as it will ever good...bp3 is the fucking evolution of hip hop

  • ohhh shit ..this is my fav Jay song..i remeber when this first came out

  • Album has nothing on Illmatic.

  • dis my shit and dat regrets

  • jay z aint change he went commercial so the music had to change but if u actually been on the streets even on his new shyt you would kno wat he talkin about..ppl jus talkin cuz they cant relate and understand wat they havent been thru..so ppl would say ignorant shyt

  • Jay went all out on this one...plus can't the hustle with mary J.

  • him new and old are like two different people like snoop, weezy, and a few others it breaks my heart

  • @13azshadypacjda91 times change and as it does you do to especially in the music industry , you know politics as usual

  • @13azshadypacjda91 he adapted his flow to keep selling records. you are not expanding your mind youngblood. you don't eat the same meal everyday or it would become average. he adapted to give the younger audience a taste of jiggaman. that's the music industry, bring in the kids and let them buy an album.

  • @13azshadypacjda91 Money ruins rappers like KRS-One said....you cant be Rich and be a great rapper

  • @roman5 jay is an example of an exception

  • @getrapedpmfl69 nope

  • "hov on that new shit nigggas like how come niggas want my old shit buy my old albums niggas stuck on stupid gotta keep it movin"

  • (on to the nex o-o-on to the nex 1) lol

  • @TheGemini052987 Hov gotta have the slickest lines ever and this adds on to the list "niggaz want my old sh.. buy my old album"

But Big L had some stuff "f***ing chicks is a rule- if my girl think im loyal then that b**** is a fool"

  • Jay z > nas

  • yeah i woud say over all hov is better than nas but i'll put nas over jay z simply because illmatic was the greatest rap album ever made in my opinion.

  • jay is still a great lyricist but his focus for money is making him slack, jay z is no doubt and amazing artist, hes new shit will never ever top his classic shit, jay deserves to be up there with nas, rakim, big l, pharoahe monch, pun, biggie and kool g rap

  • yeah once a mc gets comfortable in they career they flow change

  • @RealHipHopTunes

remove monche and pun. insert scarface and pac

  • uhh no, no disrespect or anything but......no

  • @RealHipHopTunes its not cool to call yourself real hip hop if you don't give respect to rappers from other parts of the country. your list is definitely one-sided. next you'll say that jay-electronica is garbage cuz he's from new orleans. hip hop just isn't about nyc, it's worldwide. your list should reflect that. your views should reflect that. otherwise, change your username to "realnyhiphoptunes" jussayin'...

  • no disrespect but what in the hell are you talking about? i know hip hop isnt only in nyc, its worldwide, thats true, but my list, the one that you dont like, i listened to these MCs from day one, grew up listening to these guys, i like their work, and jay electronica, hes dope, i dont give a shit if hes from the south, i listen to many underground dudes from different regions, im just paying homage and tribute to the great moments hip hop experienced in NYC

  • and you say i dont give respect to MCs from other countries, i do, but you gotta give credit where credit is due, and what i mean by that is that we gotta respect hip hop's roots, i got love for every MC, just because they dont make it to my personal list, it doesnt mean i dont like them

  • @RealHipHopTunes good point

  • you're fucked hes got a lot of good music linked to his profile where you got some shit box

  • pun would absolutely rip pac a new asshole you serious dude? lmao

  • your a moron, remove your tampon and insert a dick..........

  • he's surpassed them.... jigga* mah nigga%!

  • Are you kidding me? Nas murdered Jay period with ether so that is the end of that.

  • Sticky T: the BEST 15 yr old rapper ALIVE! CHECK ME OUT YALL

    THX:)

  • first off, your name sticky t, gettin cum all over your wack ass. second, you're 15, lets be real nigga

  • This song is incredible on soo many levels. Do your homework people...

  • Nas is good, but he'll never be better than Jay, and Jay murdered Nas wit the take over

  • @ritesaidme jay was with jaz in 88 he didn't have a deal he started going hard in 92 with jaz, orignal flava and source money and jay was a runner, pack boy he never bust his gun why jay fans think he was the man in BK real BK niggas know who he was and you right both of them great but nas is better

  • @MrWARBUCKS24 i aint neva say jay was the man. I just said he appeal's to people hoo live that lifestyle.

  • I aint here to say wether jay or nas is better cause Nas is more like a nigga hoo grew up in the ghetto and rapped about the things he saw, and he's great. Jay is more for the hustler's hoo be slangin on the block since he actually lived that life. Both of them are legends in there own way so stop bitchin about hoo's betta nd hoo's not.

  • nas is faker then a three dolla bill

  • @eivetsrednow2 how old are you if ur just hearing jay and if empire state of mind got you into jay you should go back and listen to nas ny state of mind part 1 and 2 then listen to nas and alicia keys empire state and see why jay aint the best nasty nas will always be better

  • @superjayzfan jay aint been in the game 24yrs it's been 18 get ur facts right and jay has been trash for a while since nas smashed his ass he needs to hang it up

  • @MrWARBUCKS24 look it up jay been in the game since '88 but he aint put out te official reasonbale doubt until '96. and plz dont tell me that you think Nas smashed jay on Ether. all nas did was call him gay and ugly like 20 times on that song.

  • @celebrationbitchez nice analogy hahah

  • i just cop the the old shxt because i fuck wit all the old shxt but i cant knock his husle lol but he still cool

  • yo all u rookies arguin like bitches, jayz is a legend, tupac the best ever, end of story

  • I would actually say vice versa. I give props to tupac, but jay z is a mogul...

  • he didn't get whack. his style just changed a little. like a basketball player. when he's young, he's driving to the hoop dunking, and drawing fouls.. when he gets older, he's pullin jays and dishing the rock more and calming down on the roughness. some rappers still try to stay young and they pull a "McGrady" and hurt themselves lol. or they play it more sophisticated like paul pierce. or in this situation, jay-z.

  • True but as long as he make/made good music he deserves the money.

thanks for the upload my first time hearing this song i fell inlove with this song

  • theres 2 kinds of rap albums: albums for the money, and albums for the passion, realness, and emotional conduit.

Jay-Z clearly went for money, but who doesnt have money in mind when recording.

  • @MrRazmuss I agree. Which albums do you recommend for the realness?

  • @fecklessmovies you cant go wrong with Devin the Dude's Just Tryin ta Live or Lifestylez Ov tha Poor and Dangerous by Big L

  • @MrRazmuss Thanks!!

  • @MrRazmuss Big L is brilliant. Shame he has followed the path of most good rappers and died in the 90s! So anyone else other than Devin the Dude producing good stuff in 2010? I haven't really listened to hip-hop since the 90s but would love to hear some new stuff - it's just most these days is worse than terrible and I don't have time to search out the good stuff, so any tips are much appreciated.
