  • è proprio sexy da morire!!!!!!!!

  • Nice boobs

  • Nobody these days can work a camera like Barbra could!

  • My goodness...no matter how many times I hear her sing I am moved. she inspired the way I sing now and what i want to do for the rest of my life. ... Sing. I love Barbra Streisand!

  • beautiful, flawless. she's so inspiring. no one will ever compare with the greatest star.

  • MAJOR LEAGUE.

  • I still can't believe she was only 22. Amazing.

  • Wow!! Am just browsing Barbara to discover her, coz haven't heard her before....and this was perfection!!!!!!!

  • @karan33774 All Whitney fans should know a lil Streisand, Whit was greatly influenced by this woman. ;-)

  • @1hes2ranger85 This is very true!

  • OMG! She looks like Amy Winehouse!!! :O

  • @karan33774 I was thinking the exact same thing!!!

  • When she sang this rendition of My Man, she achieved superstardom in my own opinion. She blew it out of the park and sang it with such emotion. When she changed it up (Lea Michelles version from glee sounds more like this) it just blew me out of the water. Im falling in love with you and your music Barbara, Celine and you are the best there is out there in female vocals.

  • My Man is the cherry on the cake ! Perfect ending for Funny girl , an amazing movie ! :)

  • Perfection. That's all there is in the music world. We are content.

  • Thee people do not know music.

  • extrodinary

  • I know this is live, but was this in a studio with applause tracks?

  • I am crying this is so good. LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE x 1,000,000.

  • And until today I still don't get why Justin Bieber is famous

  • How does she get that fabulous vibrato..?

  • sometimes there are no words that can describe her ! she's perfect !!!

  • Gosh, she's not just a singer, she's an artist before even the greatest pop and broadway singer. See how at the very end, she's living that character she just entered, and it's almost as though the applause is awkward. I love when a singer or instrumentalist is really a musician. It's more rare than people like to admit, but Babs has it in spades.

  • she seems like such a lovely personn:')

  • The part shen she walked away from the microphone...WTH?

Is her voice that powerful? or is she wired?

  • @cashlezz She is often not belting out her singing away from the microphone. Therefore, I would guess that there are microphones in that area of the stage.

  • Perfect just perfect!

  • Perfection! The greatest of the great!

  • Great singing great hair

  • IMHO, I think the filmed version of Funny Girl would have been better if they had used all of the music from the original production in the film, especially Cornet Man, Who Are You Now and The Music That Makes Me Dance. What a show that must have been !

  • This is a STAR!!!

  • The choreography of the camera in this segment is absolutely brilliant. No quick cuts, no flying camera angles from all around the room... nothing gets in the way of the performance. It's just Barbra's energy - captured.

They do not know how to do this anymore!

  • Jule Styne and Bob Merrill........two angels of music.

  • She goes from a shy, demur, nevrous looking startlet to a "belting" deva in six minutes and takes the performance though every emotions in between! PURE CLASS. The best in the world at the top of her game.

  • Is she not the best performer and vocalist of all time?

  • THE BEST! YOU ARE RIGHT! BEAUTIFUL!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH , THE GREATEST STAR.

  • gorgeous Barbra.... I have loved her since I was 7 years old.

  • She is not human!!!!!

  • @CCBaby type " on a clear day timeless" and watch the video... she's wearing a big dress.... watch the whole 2 minutes... that voice is not human! it's live!

  • @stevesg92 I was just reading about Barbara, she finished 4th in her Brooklyn NYC HS graduating class,a few days after she moved to Greenwich Village and started to play gigs in local clubs and immediately got discovered by talent agents from Columbia Records.

  • @hugatag She went to the same HS as my DAD: Erasmus high school.....If she graduated 4th then that's quite an accomplishment cause my dad said there were about 1000 kids in his Graduating class.

He never knew her (He graduated a year ahead of her, but his best friend dated her once)

  • For black and white, the quality is high.

Also I love how TV was "live" in the 60s. Oh well.....she's still singing and is still amazing!

  • simply fantastic..a live vocal performance rarely seen nowadays, i hope celine would someday do some streisand songs as tribute...

  • Out of this world fantastic. Give me a case of the chills up and down. BRAVO!

  • @hugatag agreed well said dear

  • Piaf ,Callas,Streisand,Garland. Vastly differing in range & style but all passionate, powerful, sincere.

  • @DaDa2Phlux and MINA MAZZINI....discover her!!!

  • @Spalle38rm Thanks for turning me on to Mina and also will include Irene Grandi !

  • @Spalle38rm Thank you for having mentioned Mina that is one of the most talented singer of all time, she is an icon.I'm Italian and i' m really happy that a great artist like Mina a legend in italy is known in all the world.

  • @DaDa2Phlux don't forget Ms. Franklin!

  • There was no one better than Judy for overall talent (voice, acting, delivery), but Barbra is a close second and has, obviously, lasted longer.

  • I can't stop watching this video.

  • Barbra is the beginning and the end, She is one of the stars Nora Desmond was referring to in Sunset Blvd..

  • Oh my God. CHILLS.

  • She is beautiful.

  • I absolutely love her. She has such a remarkable voice.

  • Music that makes me dance is the most beautiful song especially if you are in such adoration and admiration with Funny Girl :) the film people get it wrong sometimes . Not including music that makes me dance was one of these times :)

    Thanks Barbra

  • @LiviaLvinLife I absolutely love that song and her delivery is sensational here! (Better than the soundtrack version imho) I absolutely have no idea why it was not included in the film.

  • @ronaldsanfran so true, perfect for the film. I think the Soundtrack version didnt have half the soul it could have ' it was half now its whole." I think the tone she took to this was much better ..:)

  • I've always thought mrs. streisand is a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. I mean her voice is captivating! Im sitting here mesmorized.

  • I love from 5:44 to 6:31! Great Voice!!

  • It's amazing the great job she did with these and other songs on her special at age 22.

  • MASTERCLASS!

  • i can't BELIEVE she got married at 21 years old! 21!

  • @TheJessiePineapple My parents did but that was back in 1936.

  • Sorry, the director of this special stated in no uncertain terms in an interview (here on Youtube) that B sang the songs "live" to prerecorded tracks AND THERE WAS NO AUDIENCE

  • @gabsylv Quite right! This mature lady was a girl when the "My Name is Barbra" special aired. She sang the songs "live" just as you state. The album of the same name was studio recorded. It contains some of her best efforts in my opinion. Check out that album's version of "WhenThe Sun Comes Out" and "I Can See It" if you can find it (CD is available online). She's so incredible, and I truly apologize for my inability to find existing words to describe her and do her justice...sorry...

  • i think this is my favorite video on complete youtube

  • she-BANG!!! Amazing....

  • The young Streisand is sensational. The one and only truly living legend!!

  • lol she looks like gaga.

    but wow she's amazing.

  • Amazing magical an inspiration

  • The Best Singer EVER on the Planet !

  • I am crying..........The reason I even became an actress...SHE IS THE BEST!

  • I fall in love with her everytime I see this.

  • She's been the most talented 22 year old! LOL!

  • so easy to fall in love with her........ every time)

  • unbelievable.......american idol singers,,,,,,,,take lessons........please!!!!

  • amazing she is my favorite singer of all time and im 15

  • She's so beautiful : )

    Talented,

    And Smart.

How could it get any better?

  • I love Barbra's politics.

  • ahhh one of those songs was sung by billy crystal in 1992´s oscars ceremony in the medley he usually does introducing the five pictures nominated for best, lol

  • @egllanderas

That was SO funny! Did The Prince of Tides direct itself?? So, so good.

  • the best barbra was the debutante barbra, early to mid 60s. she had the most personality when she was starting out.

  • i dont like your political views kismet2333.

  • I hate her political views, but I adore her movies and songs. Her voice is off the charts fantastic! "My Man" is so awsome. Funny Girl will always be one of my very favorites. I love Funny Lady also.

Thank you for posting this classic live performance.

  • Kismet12333, I have to agree with you. I like the old Barbara. Her personality, character and her energy should be separate from her political views. She is so talented with her voice and her acting, I hate when politics get in the middle. It ruins it for people.

  • Barbra is one of the true original Hollywood liberals whose incredible talent and likeability has always been able to transcend her otherwise polarizing politics. Unlike today's phony libs, at least she is the real deal. Despite being a Conservative, I adore and respect her for her opinions. She's New York Jew who made it HUGE at a very early age; of course she's a liberal!

  • Well, it doesn't matter, I still love her...she is the best performer in theater, also Liza Minnelli, I have to give her credit too, but Barbara is so diverse in her voice. I just love that.

  • Grrrrr! It's BARBRA ... just two A's. Learn it ... remember it ... spread the word.

  • @mikesterSTLMO ---change that to: "she has more than half a brain, of course she's a liberal!"

  • @mikesterSTLMO her art gave her the humanity that you lack, and as a righty you may not understand till you face your maker.

  • @gcahn2 As if you stupid phony libs know anything about humanity.

  • @mikesterSTLMO Very hostile, aren't we?

  • @gcahn2 Best female singer I ever heard. One of the dumbest liberal white trash unamerican baby killing LIBERAL cowards of all time. Just ignorant.

  • @2121421214 I suppose you are saying this from an all knowing, allseeing position, of great insight. You, with all the wisdom in the world, you have all the answers to the worlds problems and could solve all the world's problems. If only everyone were like you, the world would be a perfect place. If what I have written is not an accurate description of you, then you should allow a little room in the world for alternative thought and action.

  • 0:38 the look she gives the camera was so precise, and was timed perfectly. The quick eyebrow raise and the widened eyes were something that only someone like her thinks to do.

  • for pete sake u can hear the girl breathe in... it is sooooo live

  • For "Octogarden 72," despite what you may have read, this is live singing in front of a live audience with a live orchestra--and the best and most thrilling a human being is capable of. Was performed (as you know) for the "My Name Is Barbra" special, first shown on April 28, 1965. One of her special gifts is she makes it seem so effortless that some people assume, well it must be pre-recorded. Not true. Listen and watch and be awed, like the rest of us!

  • she is the legend! & i love her hair.

  • There will never be another Barbra streisand.

  • i love this too. so amazing, but from what i have read this is not live. not that it takes away anything from her brilliance.

  • Only the middle segment, which was filmed at Bergdorf Goodman, was lip synched. But this part and the opening segment was live.

  • It was performed live before an audience - the entire episode was pre-taped before it aired however. It's as live as, say, a live performance at a pre-taped awards show is today. For some songs she did an extra take, or more - not sure if that's true here. Still, this was all done at once that's for sure. :)

  • Geez, amazing performance with pure emotion. The young Streisand is one of the all time greatest songbirds today.

  • barbra streisand is soulful!!!

  • The only one.

  • Sassy class!

  • Sublime, mesmerizing. Such incredible tallent. I never tire of watching her.

  • damn i love her.

  • NOT BETTER THAN JUDY, DIFFERENT PERFORMER , different era.... in my opinion no one can get the rawness out of a song like judy its just uncontrolable power though barbra was a more polished singer IS I mean ahha

  • Once for Easter I took an egg & drained it & made it into Barbra Streisand's head, sculpted her nose on it & painted it to look just like her with lashes; then I made her body, a little gibson wig & a golden gown so that it depicted her from Hello Dolly. She stood about 10 inches tall & I made the finale set from the Harmony Gardens with the staircase & set her in it. I called her "Barbra Streggsand". My friend Brian made an "Eggvita" (Evita) from the musical. Then began the annual EGG WAR.

  • I'm sorry but Barbra was way better than Judy

  • @TheDesperateHodges NO WAY!!

  • @TheDesperateHodges - but why compare?

  • @TheDesperateHodges well.... I think that considering that Judy was drunk or half high and broke and was able to dredge up such energy and power and evoke total control and discipline...... compared to Barbra who is the epidemi of perfectionism and self control... I think Judy was better..... I could only imagine if Judy would've had a different... heeh its frightening ! although someone said that when the talent is so overwhelming thats the only way to deal with it! who knows!

  • @TheDesperateHodges I love them both but your are................Correct!

  • @TheDesperateHodges thats ur opinion they are both phenomenal in their own ways. Don't state it as a fact it may be true for u, but other would disagree.

  • @TheDesperateHodges Completely different forms of talent. No comparison.

  • totally..she IS the BEST ever!!

  • omg my mama loves her so much she thinks she is amazing! i do too!

  • the Best Singer Ever on the Planet!!!!!!

  • Two words for what? Both women were and are SENSATIONAL!

  • best female voice ever to be discovered.

  • Amen to that!

  • @kakakakylleee Without a doubt the best female singer EVER. I will take Frank,Dean and Babs.

  • My Man always makes me tear up, i LOVE it :) i love any song she sings :) i always say, "if she sings it, i'll listen to it!" lol

  • I agree she is the very best female popular vocalist of her generation. How can one compare her with the great opera singers? Are they better, or is there no comparison because the styles are different?

  • agree 100 %... one of the greatest talents the world has ever seen!!

  • my dad thinks she was the greatest singer the world's ever known

and belive me. my dad's very picky about music. he and my mom grew up with this kind of music, so i'm glad i hear more of this stuff than other 14 year olds lol

  • God, I love her so much!

  • icon

  • She can teach a class on singing!

  • Wooo, I was alive way back then...

  • you're right...the best of the best of the best!

  • I still can't believe that "His is the only music that makes me dance"...wasn't in the film...why?

  • Awesome!

  • Really does not get better.

  • Holy... whatever! She just explodes off the screen! How could some who was so young be so accomplished? Powerful! A Phenom from the very beginning. WOW!

  • this is so cute....:)

  • And to think 3 years later would be Funny Girl, the movie.....

  • You can take every positive word in the dictionary and it will never begin to explain how great this women is.

I truely believe she has the best voice in the world.

I love her politics, I love her voice, and her acting.

    I love this woman.

  • ...its simple as: PURE GENIUS!!!

  • I'm right with you carly. she's absolutely superb. it really does not, doesn't even come close to getting any better than Mrs. Barbra Streisand.

  • Hottie.

  • "Pure Bliss"

  • Barbra...you are absolutlyfking ..AMAZING...I ask myself everyday...how is it that just "ONE" person on this entire planet, can be soo blessed with such amazing talent, & a voice so soothing, BREATHTAKING & BEAUTIFUL, that makes your hair stand ???? ( mindboggling!)

  • The gorgeous Ms.Streisand...there will never be another!!

  • I'm obsessed with you, Barbra.

  • Her voice, acting is AWESOME, wish her politics were! Love ya, though, Babs :)

  • Her politics are pristine.

  • I'm right with her politics. She just wants the world to be better. The Bush administration has run the country into the gutter, that's what she's been saying, and that's undeniable folks, republican or democrat.

  • Wow at 22 years old, there is no comparison to anybody I can think of today.

  • A defining moment in an absolutely bloomin' career! Thanks for this post.

  • totally awesome ... 45 years later and no one can touch this performance!

  • Not only does her talent transcend and marginalize most singers, but from the 3:45 mark of this video, Streisand presents woman in one of her most radiant moments ever captured on film.

  • make that "idealized woman"..I don't think she's singing songs like this anymore, and she still is radiant...and feminist

  • love her

  • I fucking LOVE the way she says "shebang" here!

  • i love how she does the songs but i like how she does dont rain on my parade now better

  • I bet Barbra blessed the day she ended her run in Funny Girl.

  • You just can't stop watching at her .....

  • God I just fall in absolute LOVE with her everytime I hear her <3 God bless Barbra Streisand!...Oh, wait, he already did :)

  • Can it be said more frankly......Streisand puts all these so-called Pop singers today to shame....not only for her immense talent, but her skill at using it.
