I remember going all the way to the top of Clingman's dome back in 1989 when I was pregnant. My ex literally had to push me up that steep hill.Ha! I was determined to get to the top and look at that gorgeous view of the Smoky's. Gatlinburg is my all time fav. vacation spot. I absolutely love it up there.
I do remember that being a nice clear day. The other Clingman's Dome videos I uploaded are from the same day so you can tell it was a nice day in all of them. So, you've been up there 30 times?! Wow. I think this was about my 4th. I think the Alum Cave Bluff trail is my favorite hike. I went to Charlie's Bunyan once and that took quite a while, but we pretty much had it to ourselves for an hour.
If you go back you should try hiking Chimney Tops. It is a hard hike, but the end is very worth it. If you do I suggest getting there early so you can have the top to yourself for a little while. How many times have you been to the Smokys? I try to go once or twice a year. Also try the Dome at sunrise!!!
I hiked to the Chimney Tops back around 1990 or so. I do remember it being a tough hike, especially near the top. When I look up at it now it's hard to imagine I ever made it! We usually go to the Smokys a couple of times per year, too. The last couple of times we went to a couple of the lesser publicized areas like Wears Valley and Townsend. Far fewer crowds than Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge.
Very nice video!!!!

You're very lucky, I've been up to the top of Clingmans Dome atleast 30 times and have only 5 completely clear days like that.
