Damn, this is really cool. It's like a journey into outer space or inner space or I don't know what. HaHa! But it's really beautiful, uplifting stuff. And the animations are just perfect.
@ar4216: if you like this, you might want to listen also to some earlier incarnations of this music at [the URL of MySpace followed by a slash and 'josephsonmusic'. Sorry about the complication, but devious means are needed to indicate URLs in comments here]. A warning: don't listen to the 'austere' version while driving as it may put you into a trance!
Whoa, the choir isn't real?! That's wild. It sounds kind of a like a Gregorian chant- I thought for sure those were human voices. I'll be sure to check out the austere version, just not while I'm driving. I'm up for a trance every now and then!
@ar4216 In a sense the choir is real: they sample a real choir singing a number of times and put this into an instrument file, and when you choose a choir as your 'instrument' the software miraculously does the rest, adapting to the melody that you enter. Myriad even have software that can sing words! The austere version was simple enough that I could play it on the piano myself, but for this version I entered about 1000 notes by hand and adjusted the details till the music 'came alive'.
By the way, the Olympia version is beautiful. It feels like daybreak, which is appropriate because the sun is just about to come up here. And the most fantastic thing happened as I was listening to it. A Whip-Poor-Will started singing outside my door. I guess he was getting one last bit of singing in before calling it a night. He sounded good though. You might think of adding one to your next recording. :-)
Thanks for your comments! In fact, this spectacular version of Visualiser has been around for some time. The current iTunes Views menu has an item "Visualizer' ,which lets you choose between the new visualiser and the 'Classic' one.
