  • by rocket fuel you mean winstrol, right?

  • juice or not, ben is fastest man ever

  • everyone in the last 2 heats is on juice

  • It makes sense that once one athlete begins doping (cheating), there is an "arms race" which ensues as other athletes attempt to catch up. So no matter which way you look at it, an athlete at this elite level MUST cheat - because he is otherwise giving up a great advantage to his nearest competitors. This is doubly the case with the "authorities" playing cat-and-mouse games with the competitors. The issue of "detection" isn't nearly as cut-and-dried as it is made out to be.

  • Call Lewis got his ass whip and he was doped up too.

  • They all cheat. Wicked race thou

  • He looked blistering quick - but bolt when even quicker!

  • Everyone fucking cheats. Poor Ben just got unlucky to get caught... It's complete fucking bullshit how this system works.

  • everybody cheat, he just got caught.

  • ben johnson cheated,

on the race before it he took steroids then he took a drug test after he failed it and was stripped of his gold medals

  • Johnson was on rocket fuel.

Had the best gear of all of them and deserved to win.

  • @curetril so true - Carl Lewis, who was given gold when Johnson was stripped of his medal, tested positive for stimulants 8 weeks before the Olympics, but appealed saying he was unaware of taking them. Linford Christie came in third, then in 2000 tested positive for drugs, Dennis Mitchell who came in 5th tested positive in 1999, as was Desai Williams who came in 6th. Ridiculous.

  • ben johnson shat in carl lewis's face...i don't care that he was disgraced two days later..for two days my entire high school rejoiced at the amount of shit that carl lewis had on his face....thanks Ben...you're still a canadian hero in my eyes..

  • @MrChiffy Says a lot for your country that you regard a drugs cheat a hero !

  • @Oddjob1177 yup...sure does...says we forgive...says we recognize the charity work with inner city kids he's done since then...what say you about the countless American drug cheats? marion jones ? have you forgiven her? are you glad and maybe even impressed that she's moved on, learned from it? that she's trying to make amends for it?? cuz you should be....i'll take your intended cheap shot as a compliment...it does say a lot for my country.

  • i love sprinting even though im a mma fighter, i use it as my cardio (tabata sprints) i personally dont think steroids sould be illegal, rather legal. Besides its not cheating if everyone else is WHICH they are.

  • @poynterlove123 wait i dont get what your saying man YOU SAID YOU DONT THINK STEROIDS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL thts the dumbest thing ive ever heard man wat if youre in your MMA fight and the other guy beats you up and u find out he was on some sort of muscle medication for horses would you be mad? i defintely think so.

  • Love the way the commentator sounds surprised by Ben's start. Ben was ALWAYS the best started, he was that strong he could actually LEAP from the blocks, incredible power! And yes, they were ALL on the pharma!!!

  • Love the way the commentator sounds surpried by Ben's start. Nen was ALWAYS the best started, he was that trsong he could actually LEAP from the blocks, incredible power! And yes, they were ALL on the pharma!!!

  • insulin???? try steroids.

  • lol, he ran 9.79 on drugs. usain bolt and tyson gay run 9.58 and 9.71 respectively, ALL NATURAL XD just shows how dedication beats cheating

  • He comes on the BBC talking about how steroids are disgracing the game, lol what a twat.

  • ben was found innocent in 2008 after new technology came to light

Carl Lewis is a bum fucking homo

  • steroids

  • We now know they were all on shit - Charlie Francis was a brilliant coach - he developed his start and stride with a very unique regimen.

  • I think if Lewis had Johnson's coaching he could have gone 9.70

  • I AGREE WITH POPOPO 1888 WHAT A RUNNER...HE CAME OUT OF THOSE BLOCKS LIKE A WOLF...YEH HE HAD TAKEN STANOZOL BUT IT DIDN'T MAKE THE DIFFERENCE EVERYONE SAYS,AND BOTTOM LINE ALL IF NOT MOST OF THESE ATHLETES TAKE SOMETHING OR OTHER THEY SHOULDNT,THEY TAKE IT THEN GET IT OUT OF THEIR SYSTEM FOR COMPETITION..THATS A FACT!!

HE WAS JUST STUCK UP ON THE SHITTY STICK COZ HE WASN'T LIKED AS A PERSON,RATHER THAN LEWIS OR BROWN NOSER "NEVER QUITE HAD IT" CHRISTIE..HOW PISS POOR WAS HE!!!!

  • @slippped Cool story bro

  • @slippped usain bolt ran in 9.58 WITHOUT drugs, so stfu.

  • @scorpiovrs Correction, Usain Bolt ran 9:58 *without getting caught* using drugs. Don't be so naive as to believe that todays athletes are less juiced than in previous years. They're just better at hiding it.... But you know what? WHO CARES!

They're all doing it (Including Carl Lewis who tested positive more than 5 times during his career and was never reprimanded ) so it's an even playing field. Ben was a freakish athlete and was unjustly crucified for simply being better than an American hero.

  • @hendrixian1 how the fuck do you know that usain bolt was on drugs? are you just saying that because since you're a ben johnson dick-riding faggot, you say that everyones on drugs, because you cant ecxept the fact that Ben Johnson cheated to set a world record, and Usain Bolt broke it without drugs? Ben Johnson was a great runner, but he cheated. Usain Bolt worked harder than Ben Johnson, except it.

  • @scorpiovrs Matey, I've been working around the track and field world for long enough to know how many people are using. Fact is, whenever an advance is made in the tracking drug use, they're still about 12 steps behind the athlete's/coaches. I know you'd like to believe that its all fine and dandy, and ben johnson was a talentless cheat etc etc, but its simply not the case... I don't mind it because they all do it and dont be mistaken, these are the finest athletes in the world.

  • @hendrixian1 You're so full of shit.

  • @scorpiovrs And just for the record. Jamaica doesn't even screen their athletes for drugs during the off-season so it's no wonder they're able to get away with it.

  • @hendrixian1 Your ignorance is quite visible you cunt.... how do you know this? Bolt, Powell, Blake, Shelly-Ann Fraser and all top Olympic athletes have to submit to RANDOM testings by IAAF....whether it is in season or off season.

  • @Javincy actually its WADA officials who carry out random testings. And hate if you want, but hendrixian has a point. Just look at EPO problems in cycling. It has taken since the 1980's to finally develop an effective test, but athlete's doctors are one step ahead and are already using NESP, DYNEO, CERA etc - none of these have effective tests. According to WADA statistics about 1% of all athletes across a range of sports are caught on drugs. To assume that they're the only ones is simply naive.

  • stanozolol 250 mg

  • I remember watching this when it happened, I was like damn that mtherfcker is fast lol ha ha. It was so obvious he was onthe roids to funny.

  • @BronxCubans why was it obvious... usain bold is running faster is it obvious he's on steroids

  • @puertorricane Ben had never ran that fast ever before including the last track in field meet just months before. Plus he always finished second or third behind Lewis most of his career. The way he came out of the blocks on this meet was incredible. Usain could be on steriods I doubt it though his explosion out the gate is really slow. Then his running style is pure power with his long legs striding. I believe hes just a perfect build for track in field who is reaching his prime.

  • @BronxCubans who else reckson bolt is gonna take long jump too?

  • @puertorricane lol, the words of a loser. Bolt isnt on steroids.

  • @sum182wrestling do you comprehend what you read or are you dumb.. when did i said that bolt is on steroids

  • @puertorricane ok, i misread your post, and my post was ment to be half-joking anyway.

  • Deluded mainstream sheep like to point the finger at Ben as a cheat.

The truth is that he did the hard work and won against a level playing field.

Carl Lewis and others detections were swept under the rug time and time again.

Even when outed, they were let off with no punishment unlike Ben.

Ben Johnson was a poor Jamaican immigrant who represented Canada. He was not so articulate nor fashionable and didn't have a powerful athletics body representing him like others he was competing against.

  • ben johnson is the best athletes of all time

  • @MultiEazy Hahha you know he was a cheater right?

  • @MultiEazy true so so true

  • A race for the ages.

Johnson always had a superior start, one that was further enhanced while on the juice. Not just good mechanics, that was largely god-given ie fast twitch fibers he had that even other sprinters didn't.

  • the most dominating sprint performance i'd ever seen... until Bolt's 2008 win.

  • FLO WAS KILLED FOR CHEATING.

  • everybody cheats...johnson got caught....i still think hes the fastest man to ever run 100m...the tracks bolt is running on now are way better. Johnson beat lewis by 0.14seconds usain bolt beat tyson GAY by 0.13...

  • At least one person left on planet intelligence........good to see.

  • he didn't get caught he admitted it, they tricked him into confessing. all the other athletes just deny. he was only using steroids, now a day they use HGH, insulin and other hormones. if johnson was on that who knows what he would have run!

  • @paulanka2000 You are correct. HGH and insulin, two undetectable agents, are what is used now. if anyone says "Oh, that guys is on steroids", that person hasn't a clue. Steroids are a thing of the past. "T", testosterone is used some, but is much less effective than HGH or insulin.

  • @cegtown watch the balco interview on youtube with victor kunte, an athlete claims she would train for like 5 hours straight, take a 3 hour break and her muscles are fully recovered from intense training and workout...pretty nuts

  • @cegtown insulin? so if your a diabetic you can't run?

  • @arkenfeldemigod not at all. we are speaking of extreme levels of insulin. not medicinal.

  • what did they do to the track?? , better grip on it or something?

  • I loved that race!!! ben won fair and square. All the rest were on the juice aswell.

  • Yeah, I'd like anyone to name a guy in that final that didn't test positive as some stage in their career after that race. I think you'll be hard pressed

  • it took 20+ years for anyone to beat Ben's record, too bad he was juiced.

i remember that race i was like 5 years old.

Usain is the man now, hopefully he's clean

  • I think Bolt is in a different class and now with the faster time i do think he'd beat johnson however it was a toss-up until bolt went to 9.69 which is too fast even for johnson.

  • @hardcorehouse fair play dude i think bolt put the debate to rest in berlin. it was an interesting comparison tho since beijing,

    can't wait for next season

  • Ben Johnson used to live on my street in toronto

  • Johnson won that race fair and square. They were All on dope of some sort. He still ran from point a to point b in that time.

  • Lol. I'm afraid ur probably right. They're all on something or another.

  • agreed they are all on anabolics it was easy back then, i watched "bigger faster stronger" apparently carl covered it up somehow. its because he is canadian, americans want it all to themselves

  • I have a feeling most track and field peeps are right, we'll see Bolt test positive at some point.

  • hardcorehouse you don't half talk out of your rear end. most 'track and field peeps' happen to think the exact opposite to what you state. how come you are so badly wrong? it's only a few sad lone bitter voices like carl lewis who seriously believe that bolt is on drugs. time will tell but it's now a long time since Beijing.

  • Bolt and Johnson is probably a dead heat, factoring in the fact that Bolt runs on faster tracks and spikes and had a little wind.

  • then again johnson was drugged up to the eye balls and still wouldnt be able to beat bolt

  • carl lewis was the biggest druggie of them all

  • Sad but true. I used to idolize him.

Possibly the biggest cheat in the history of athletics!!!

  • @hardcorehouse: that bollocks about faster tracks won't cut it any more - berlin is supposed to be a 'slow' track and usain bolt just pissed all over johnson's time by over a fifth of a second.

don't even try and compare them, no steroids, spikes or track could ever have helped ben johnson come close to bolt.

  • some tracks are faster then other? they have different gripes? today they may have a newer ways to improve sprinters performance, then they did back then. i've watched that 100m sprinting guide on youtube its actually pretty complicated and hard to perfect, ben is a very talented guy no doubt about that

  • not many would disagree with this last comment. ben johnson was a very talented sprinter indeed, one of the best in history. however i still maintain usain bolt is in a different class. he is THE best in history and by a margin never before seen in our species.

there is just no way ben johnson, michael johnson or any other could come close to beating bolt even at their peak with all the latest spikes and tracks and what ever other modern aid.

  • who knows maybe its the newer generations that are just faster. Maybe usain has not even reached his full potential. but if you do watch the sprint and look at their form back in the day it was different then todays sprinters. why have the jamaicans never beaten the americans up until now? they creamed US in both mens and womens, there is no way just within such a tiny span of time they just dominate.

  • dust particles

  • Ben Johnson was a scape goat. He was used to show the world that the Olympics & any other athletic organisation would not tolerate cheating.

He was used because he was Canadian & not American. Carl Lewis failed every drug test ever taken before trials but was ushered through as the USA had to have a dominant champion in athletics.

The sport is destroyed with drugs & always will be.

Don't try compare Johnson (20 years ago) to Bolt today. Totally different sprinters period.

  • agreed, too bad for johnson though

  • I just loved Lewis' face when he couldn't catch Johnson... funny! lol

  • This was the dirtiest Olympic 100 M ever! Noone was clean.

  • even though he cheated, at that time no human had ran that fast. Take away his medals, but Guiness should have recognized the human aspect. It's not like he was on a bike!

  • Yeah, and Carl Lewis, just as much as a cheater and was caught many times (albeit, word never got out until well after this event), gets the gold. Fucking bullshit.

  • @Mineav i've been a track fan for 25 years and never seen evidence against Lewis saying he cheated. Do you have any? I'd love to see.

  • @Mineav wtf stfu he dont cheat

  • @noonan94 You want to live in a dream world, go right ahead. I couldn't care less. If you do less than 5 minutes of research you'll find Lewis cheated many times all throughout his career. They pretty much all do it, so it's not like he's the only one (not by a long shot).

  • @Mineav I'm sorry I found out he did! you're right!

  • I kind of agree. You see, the drugs don't make it easier.

In fact, they enable you to train harder & longer therefore speeding up improvement.

There's not drug out there that will make me run faster than I already can but there's drugs that can help me train at higher intensity & speed recovery therefore improve my times in a shorter period.

Johnson still used his two legs to run & he's still one of the most impressive sprinters of all time.

His reaction times were 2nd to none!

  • Ben Johnson was a nobody until he cheated. He won bronze in 1984 but without the boycott he probably wouldn't have won even that. Not impressive in my book.

  • Just had a look at your profile & by the looks of it you spend the day pissing people off with stupid uneducated comments.

    Enough said

  • Tracy says "Douche..Fuck you.! Grillo"

    Top shelf liquor!

  • That race is labeled the dirtiest 100m final in Olympic history. Truth be told it is probably no dirtier then any other since. If he won a bronze medal without the use of any ileagal substance that is impressive.

  • dude johnsons reaction time was unreal. the machines had to have there sensitivity changed because they beleived johnson was false started even when he wasn't. he was really good man, steroids only enhance your recovery time so you can train harder. plus they all cheat especially this juiced up lineup, go look them up

  • @barochoc well said

  • Usain Bolt ran 9.69s on the best and fastest synthetic track! Johnson probably would have run 9.6 if he had that kind of track before...

  • exactlyy

  • Comment removed

  • I doubt Johnson would've run under 10 if he was clean like Bolt...

  • Bolt clean? AHAH no one is clean in track and field man. It's a known fact among people close to the sport.

  • its true man, lets face it if every now and then someone gets caught, then its obvious that thats not the only time someone's juiced up, they all do its just that most of the time they do a good job flushing it out of their system in time, and then there's the times when the fuck up on it.

  • Bolt is clean until proven guilty, can't say the same for Johnson...

  • @adryanerock true

  • BOLT IS THE BOMB IF HE TESTS POSITIVE WHO WILL BE DRUG FREE NOW AND still WIN!!

  • Ben was a 10.9 before he got the bone taken out of his nose.

  • if bolt had the kind of start johnson had he would be running low 9.60s

  • he is already running low 9.6s, he eased up during his 9.69 run it could easily have been a 9.65, 9.64 had he went all the way, also having a start like Johnson for Bolt is impossible, Bolt is too tall, shorter people generally have better acceleration while taller people have higher top end speed due to their longer strides, that's why taller people were told to run the 200 rather than the 100 because in the 200having a good start means less than in the 100...

  • interesting never thought of this

  • What are you on about?

Bolt WILL run in the 9.50's very soon.

He's still young & will peak around 28-32 years of age.

It's scary to think how fast he will be for next Olympics!

  • @barochoc he's already run in the 9.50's

  • @mrcatohead, yeah sorry. I meant sub 9.50's...

    Still scary!! :-S

  • Carl Lewis never did drugs guys...yeah right...he just never got caught...just like Marion Jones never did drugs until she got caught...back in 2000 I said "Marion looks like she is on the sauce...her body looks like a man's due to masculinization from roids" then she confessed it verifying what I already knew.

  • where's ur proof ur on drugs i dont need to have proof too! just like how u talk shit u wanna make the fact that sprinters use drugs, well regular people use drugs, youre regular youre a druggie!

  • she is still sexy

  • Agreed, my cynicism tells me that running "clean" really means not getting caught. The Ben Johnson run was one of my all-time faves, and will probably always remain so.

Usain Bolt looks like the new superstar...

  • druggy

  • THE FASTEST JUNKIE ON EARTH!!!

  • Contrary to popular belief: Steroids do NOT make you faster or stronger.

They allow you to recover faster from workouts so that you can work out again (thus improve) while everyone else is still sore.

  • im pretty sure that steroids actualy build muscle mass as well stimulating the growth hormone and the stuff you listed as well. But im not an expert.

  • Hallelujah..!!!

Finally someone who knows what they're talking about.

The majority of people out there think that athletes train like Ivan Drago & have Steroids pumped into them for extra strength.

This extra strength only comes with hard work. Anabolic Steroids enable you to push yourself harder than normal therefore increasing your load per session & benefiting quicker than normal.

I'm sure they help with recovery too.

It's still cheating but it doesn't come easier. It's actually harder

  • Agreed, if anything Bolt has better "juice" then Johnson:) Probably just comes down to that.

  • hey, Usain Bolt did 9,69 today!!

GOLD MEDAL in Beiijing! He stoped running 15m. before the end! GREAT ATHLETES!

  • You know, watch the race carefully. Ben Johnson lets up near the end. I wonder what his time would have been had he run this straight through>?

  • in the locker room all the other guys respected that 9.79 because everyone was a juicer - it has taken a new breed of Jamaican super-runner (Bolt\Powell) to finally overwhelm that time

  • i always look at it this way:

    #1 they're all on something

#2 what they're on today is way better than what they were on when Ben was running

#3 he didn't run the last 20 metres or so of the race, and even showboated across the line

#4 he's easily the fastest guy who was ever on the planet

  • Carl Lewis was on a drug that never was detected, by the way, at his time It wasn't ilegal to make autotransfusions, (could it be that it was the reason for him to be thin?)

  • WOW steroids work wonders. Amazing run.

  • Hello from Poland

  • how are u buttmuncher from poland?

  • hello

  • whats up

  • Doper

  • ben had the best biomechanics of all time and the best neurophysiology. send schwarzenegger to run the 100m otherwise. they all are on drugs anyway so let's bow to ben's superior biomachine and stop the moronic sanctimoniousness.

  • wtf do u know about his neurophysiology?? cut the bs please

  • Ben would probably run 9.6 with what they take today. He was such a power runner.Good genetics is good genetics, even today.

  • i agree

his mechanics were better than any sprinter that ever lived

i mean he jumped out of the starting blocks JUMPED!

  • I cant get over this race johnson was dynamite. And i know the field was full of dopers through and through. But when they speak of this race in a 100 years time they wont think carl lewis it will be ben johnson. Thanks for the footage. Supurb.
