  • omg!!! look at the light behind you its the silouette of a person!!

  • Stay up for three days and try saying this: Popular polly partied properly poping powerfull purple pills. If popular polly partied properly, poping powerfull purple pills; then who provivided properly partying, popular polly powerfull purple pills to pop? His pop the cop. Who proposed he stop!

  • I can't even say that now! >_<

  • although the basic guidelines are simple, executing them usually takes experience. (1) sleep for every nap (allocate relaxing, minimally stimulating time before each nap so you can get sleepy), (2) wake up for every nap (will be easier if you sleep for every nap), and (3) don't sleep at any time other than your scheduled nap time (never let your guard down). things will get easier, but you've got to maintain a strict schedule. the social life will take some juggling.

  • the last major thing is don't have unplanned naps. especially don't make the decision to have a nap when you're feeling sleepy! once you wake up, the hardest part is over, but don't assume it's smooth sailing. stay active (don't read a book). every oversleep and unplanned nap will not only set you back, it will destabilize your schedule and make it that much harder to get back on track.

  • and the other thing to consider are the oversleeps. don't assume a normal alarm will be able to wake you up. have some backup alarms (preferably loud), and don't sleep in your bed! there is a post in my blog somewhere about how to fall asleep instantly that outlines my napping style. also, plan to have your judgment altered when you wake up (you'll want to go back to sleep in most cases). have something to wake you up (i used warcraft 3, battle net)

  • No bed?! Oh man, this is going to be one hell of a challenge. And could I get a link to your blog? I would like to read about your napping style.

  • yuppers, no bed, forget about cuddling in the sheets! napping is different from sleeping at night, different rules, different approach. i messaged you a link to the article.

  • firstly, don't assume that you will be able to fall asleep instantly just because you are sleep deprived. that is a mistake and perhaps the most disastrous thing to believe when starting. napping is a skill that can be practiced, and i would recommend at least a month, probably 2 of practicing napping before trying uberman. if you are unable to fall asleep for 100% of your naps, the transition will likely be too difficult to handle.

  • I never was good at napping! I do have some techniques I use to help me fall asleep fast, so I will have to be extra focused on doing them properly. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. For now or maybe in the future if I try it again.

  • samostorm! (it sounds like an x-men character, hehe) i'm glad to see you are interested and trying it, but i must tell you, i think there's a 95% chance that you will fail. uberman takes planning and research (which i've been doing for a year now). i should mention that i'm not currently doing the sleep schedule, but i have not posted an update to that effect yet. my reasons are more psychological than physiological, but don't underestimate the difficulty of transitioning (and maintaining).

  • That's supportive...

  • i'm sorry if i come across as unsupportive, but i really just want to help. i've seen too many half-baked, failed transitions, and it's frustrating because after a year of researching and planning, i believe i've figured out a technique that most people should be able to follow to success. my latest transition was quite easy, and i'm confident that when i've got other things in my life in order, i'll be able to go back to it with little difficulty.

  • Oh don't worry about it. :) I took no offense whatsoever. Though this whole thing sounds to interesting to just let it go without at least attempting it. Plus it will give me a whole bunch of extra time to catch up on my reading. :)

  • I had no idea that it required such effort. Though that only makes me want to try it more. I still have that 5% right? :) I mean if I fail at least I had an interesting (and also very tired) experience. I'll keep the videos going so you know if I back out or not.

  • Hey, so I took somethint to go to sleep (before I knew I was going to be doing this) so my 12pm nap was 45 minutes long. My 4:00am nap was 35, and my 8:00am was 20. So I'm doing better, but I'm tired as all hell. :)

  • Nice! It is cool that someone else is doing this with me. :)

Just make sure to make all your naps are 20 minutes. Also I read that you should at all costs stay away from caffeine during your adjustment period.

    Cheers! :)

  • Hah! Fat chance! I guess I might ween myself off slowly. I need my hot tea!

  • Caffeine free hot tea! Do not go to the dark side!

...err caffeine side... :P Well I guess caffeine is ok but it is going to mess with your already messed up circadian rhythms. It is just going to take longer to get adjusted.

  • My what? Oh god, I need to do my research.
