I had a RIA 1911 Tactical. It was a great shooter until I had SEROUS issues with the gun. The firing pin kept falling out the back, and the rounds kept nosediving. I sent it back to manufacturer and they replaced the gun citing an "out of spec slide." Brand new gun. In all fairness, I have to say that I genuinely believe I had a bad egg. I have heard many things about this gun, and virtually all of them are positive. Regardless, customer service was great, and they fixed their mistake. A+++

Pete just subscribed to youre channel. This video convinced me too get a RIA 45. I was just at my gun store today and RIA came out with a new model for 2011 that has a rail for lights and lasers. Thanks for the videos.
Dude if you want a better quality 1911 for the money get yourself an ATI GI 45. It's a 4 inch with 1/4 barrel length. It's gorgeous and the fit is better than my Springfield mil spec. No bullshit. RIA is good, but ATI is better. Check them out, I think you will be impressed. Hickok45 did a video on it too.

It seems like the Philippine companies are doing great work. I've heard nothing but good about RIA and Citadel. I just picked up a Metro Arms American Classic II, and though not part of Armscor, it's also a hell of a gun for the money.
Thanks again pete for recommending getting wilson combat and kim pro tac's for new kimbers, just bought an eclipse target II and some kim pro tac mags and shot the first 100 rounds today, ZERO JAMS!! not even past the break in an the kimber is kicking ass.
Strange ... I've heard that some people have had jamming issues with Kimber as well. Maybe I got lucky ... but I've NEVER had 1 jam with my Kimber and that's from round 1 on. Still love Kimber though ;-) --- BTW, I don't think you have to defend yourself to any of us ... we all love the channel and what you do Pete... if we didn't we wouldn't be here!
I love my RIA. It's outstanding. I have the 5" Elite single stack blued with black grip's. Simply a smooth and outstanding firearm. I walked in looking at the Colt Defender, walked out with the RIA 5" Elite. My wife is from the Philippines so she had something to do with my choice LOL!
Love it. I too have put off the purchase of the RIA thinking the price was to cheap. Your review along with others has finally convinced me it's time. The lifetime warranty is a the real kicker as so many firearms limit their warranty or do not list one at all. Thanks Pete

One thing though, I think it would look better with a bushing on it. Personal preference I suppose. Oh, and definately get a skeleton trigger so it matches up with the hammer :D

I'd be curious of a range report. Although I've been called a 1911 snob, I still am interested in 1911s in all price ranges. I've shot a few of these at the range and one of them failed on me (feeding). But there is a following for RIAs. Yes talk to GUNSMITHS not sales guys. I'm friends with a smith that supplies the state police 1911s. I asked him his opinion on RIAs and other 'budget' 1911s and unfortunately he didn't give it a glowing review. While I was on cloud nine with my first 1911, which is my dream gun, I was actually just trying to get what I could for the least amount of money. After I really started to learn what made a good 1911, I was pleasantly surprised to see what the R.I.A. offered for the money. You cannot, will not go wrong with this gun. Just wait until you take it to the range. Do whatever you can to make it malfunction, even hollowpoints

Thanks again pete for recommending getting wilson combat and kim pro tac's for new kimbers, just bought an eclipse target II and some kim pro tac mags and shot the first 100 rounds today, ZERO JAMS!! not even past the break in an the kimber is kicking ass.

getn a Kimber 1911 in a few weeks; held it VERY tight. But how do you feel about the break in period? (200-300) rounds or more?

Strange ... I've heard that some people have had jamming issues with Kimber as well. Maybe I got lucky ... but I've NEVER had 1 jam with my Kimber and that's from round 1 on. Still love Kimber though ;-) --- BTW, I don't think you have to defend yourself to any of us ... we all love the channel and what you do Pete... if we didn't we wouldn't be here!

I love my RIA. It's outstanding. I have the 5" Elite single stack blued with black grip's. Simply a smooth and outstanding firearm. I walked in looking at the Colt Defender, walked out with the RIA 5" Elite. My wife is from the Philippines so she had something to do with my choice LOL!

Love it. I too have put off the purchase of the RIA thinking the price was to cheap. Your review along with others has finally convinced me it's time. The lifetime warranty is a the real kicker as so many firearms limit their warranty or do not list one at all. Thanks Pete

hey Pete I have a question maybe you or someone else could answer; Say a guy wanted to by a smaller model 1911 like this one or a ultra carry or champion model. and you wanted to get the .22 cal conversion kit. and only kimber and someone else makes them. which from my understanding is 5" slide. would the kit work on these smaller models or on a rock island 5" model.

This is a very good video review of RIA, mine is an ARMSCOR variant with similar features and I am happy with it, no problems so far. Not a single Jam. Very good video, Pete. What a tidy little pistol. Looks great, nicely made and cheap too. Can't wait to see the range vid, maybe take one of the other 1911s out and do a comparison. That'd be fun to watch.
One thing though, I think it would look better with a bushing on it. Personal preference I suppose. Oh, and definately get a skeleton trigger so it matches up with the hammer :D

Sounds like Rock Island backed you up. That's important to me. Any gun could have a hickup and slide threw inspections. I have a 1911 and I want a cheaper gun that I am not afraid to hurt. Ya know. I might have to give these a closer look.

I'd be curious of a range report. Although I've been called a 1911 snob, I still am interested in 1911s in all price ranges. I've shot a few of these at the range and one of them failed on me (feeding). But there is a following for RIAs. Yes talk to GUNSMITHS not sales guys. I'm friends with a smith that supplies the state police 1911s. I asked him his opinion on RIAs and other 'budget' 1911s and unfortunately he didn't give it a glowing review. BUT I'm still curious about it. Thanks!

Dude, nice fuckin' gun! I have the full size model and it was my first 1911. While I was on cloud nine with my first 1911, which is my dream gun, I was actually just trying to get what I could for the least amount of money. After I really started to learn what made a good 1911, I was pleasantly surprised to see what the R.I.A. offered for the money. You cannot, will not go wrong with this gun. Just wait until you take it to the range. Do whatever you can to make it malfunction, even hollowpoints
