  • I hear Mario Lanza today for the first time and I can not get enough of him. Too bad he's from another time. How amazing it must have been to hear him sing live. Thank God for this videos.

  • I cannot get enough of this song!

  • How could anyone not like this. It was spectacular.

  • what a absoluty great voice!

  • Gives me goosebumps!

  • This is the voice I judge all other tenor's by. Never heard one come close.....

  • No matter how many times you listen to his wonderful singing voice you'll never get tired. Once you start listening to any of his recordings you just have to stop doing whatever you may be doing and pay attention to it almost in a religious way. Particularly if the songs are either this one or Ave Maria or I'll Walk with God.

  • Voice of God indeed. <3 No one sang this better than he did

  • Just to let you know this song is still under copyright.

  • MA MUMS SONG SHE LOV,D THIS MAN SINGING IT LOV YA MA XX

  • I understand why Elvis Presley rated him as one of his favorite singers of all time. I concur w/the king on this. Just beautifully brilliant!

  • simply great, the most beautiful voice the Lord done..........

  • this man gives me goose pimples all over when i here this angel voice love him.

  • I also would suggest to y'all, that you go to U tube and find Deanna Durbin. She sings this at age 18 and is incredible... she was the Number 1 star for MGM from 1935-1940. they would have gone bankrupt without her... Wonderful voice

  • I love Mario's Voice and always have. I do believe that if you want to hear an equally beautiful rendition, listen to the Maria Callas Version... Unbelievable.

  • Magnificent!

It's sad that he died so young....

  • Mario Lanza avait une voix tout simplement superbe, unique. ! la plus belle, la plus chaleureuse que j'ai jamais entendue...

  • heartfelt and beautifully reverent the voice of an angel ...

  • There is another version of Mario singing "The Lord's Prayer" here on YouTube. I believe it is a better version--but the same Mario Lanza. From heart-felt reverence to a dramatic conclusion that opens the heavens!

  • @bonnies1234567

THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER VERSIONS. ALL ARE NOT OF THIS EARTH. THEY ARE HEAVENLY. BUT THE ONE YOU MAY BE REFFERING TO IS FROM YONI 89. IT'S ABOUT 3:20. IT IS BREATHTAKING. AS I GROW OLDER, I NEED THIS MUSIC TO COMFORT ME FOR MY JOURNEY TO COME.

  • magnificent!!!!

  • what movie is this from?

  • @PeaceLoveAndSKs This is a scene from Because You're Mine.

  • Is a blasfemie to compare Lanza with Potts ... Potts is a loser ... you are insane man ... wake up ...

  • Mario Lanza...youtube's greatest asset. Before I discovered youtube, I thought I was alone on my admiration and love for his beautiful voice. I am so glad to see so many others who share my sentiment. Thanks for posting this!

  • I saw this film one day, and as I heard this, I couldn't speak. This was probably one of the most touching movie moments I have ever seen.

  • Beautiful. My mother would cry if she heard this. She almost did when she heard Jose Carreras sing "The Lord's Prayer". :)

Guy CREQUIE

  • It is an interpretation directly come from the sky. That one believes in the universe or God monotheist, this single voice, has all; emotion, diction, power, purity, nuances of 'a sunset, luminosity of the sky, softness of a beat of wings.

Why: the large chains of television in France, at teaching ends for youth, do not repeat its films like: “serenade, or spins it of Capri.” ? Guy CREQUIE

? Guy CREQUIE

  • I DONT THINK ANYONE CAME CLOSE TO LANZA IN THE AMERICAN SONGS

  • Bravo, how old was he when he died. He's now in heaven singing this, and God smiled. Best there is, best there was best there ever will be.

  • @ibeliveification He was 38 years old when he died.

  • Bless you Tenor65 for posting this truly magnificent recording. Mario Lanza the greatest tenor in history. I have always prayed that as I Pass to Spirit he will be there to help receive me as he has been my idol for ove 55 years. God Bless Him

  • I was so moved by this, I didn't speak the whole time I heard it. <:') R.I.P. Mario Lanza. You died too young, but will remain in our memories forever. I hope to meet you one day in Heaven.

  • Beautiful just beautiful .No words can really describe how touching this really is.

  • @Lainie48 He sang just like an angel, it had me shakeing. Just beautiful

  • Had me crying like a baby. I pray I meet you one day soon Mr Lanza!

  • My goodness can you imagine being in church or in a house group and someone sings like that - WOW!

One's heart would melt and many may fall to their knees.

  • I learned the prayer as "Our Father who art" not "Our Father which art". I'm sure "which" is correct in the song or it would not be in the movie. However, I find that to be interesting, since I think of that and which for things and who for people or God. Perhaps there are two versions of the prayer.

Also, did anyone else notice the James Whitmore in the beginning? He was in a number of movies and TV shows, including "The Law and Mr. Jones" back in the 1950s.

  • @ChicagoSouthDan which is correct as God is strictly speaking Elohim (pl)

  • Greatest Tenor of all time... nuf said

  • @marvwaddy, Caruso was also consider the great tenor and Lanza was comapred to him; ergo, he palyed Caruso in the movie.

  • this is music as it should be, today,s music or what they call the noise that is today,s music is junk, this is music for the ages, and there will never be anybody to replace mario lanza, probably the best tenor of our time

  • I love this, I can,t even understand what they call today,s music, this is the best version of the lords prayer I have ever heard, he was probably the best tenor of our time

  • we can know dot com ONLY 8 MONTHS UNTIL THE RAPTURE AND THEN NO MORE SALVATION EVER!!!!!!!

  • its from the movie the great caruso .wonderfull

  • @jhonnies123..."Lords Prayer" was from his movie "Because You're Mine".

  • Praise God

we can know dot com MAY 21 2011 RAPTURE IN 39 WEEKS!

  • the best version ever .and the greatest tenor of all time .even better than caruso

  • no tenor can compare with the mario lanza even caruso not .beautiful song

  • for You, my God, from Arnoldo and from me...

  • Beautiful!!... But where did the choir suddenly come from in the middle of the performance? Don't you just love old Hollywood movies?

  • He is singing to everyone seated but clearly to dear God as well. The passion and devotion is all over his face. His powerful beautiful voice does the rest. He is singing a prayer in the film but simultaneously in his inmost thanking God his glorious voice and all other blessings He had given him. Thank you.

  • Which film is this from?

  • Here's a singer who was truly greatful for his God-given gift voice, and knew it was only on loan.

  • Matthew 6:9-13; beautiful; praise God!

  • Mario Lanza can move mountains. Very rare talent indeed.

  • I agree with triplletrules. This type of music came from the heart and with lot of teelings. Nowadays, I could not even understanding what they were singing. I'm so happy that people upload these videos with this type of music. Thanks so much for uploading this video.

  • What a voice

  • I think he's the best singer who sang this song. Love his songs. He might have died young, but his songs will live forever. R.I.P. Mario Lanza.

  • beautiful

  • Along with Igor Gorin version (available here in youtube) this is the best version of this work (Since Im basso I preffer Gorin's....8-D)

  • Beautiful

  • Wow!!!

  • I love you Man, i really do? the reason being is because your a very good kind caring person, and your voice is a gift from God, I wish he was alive today, sucks total that he is not here, but he is at a much better place. 20/20 man, you rock heapz dude

  • Mario is the best tenor of all time ....i love it !!!!!!

  • And was this taken from some film, and from which one?

  • Excuse me, does anyone know who wrote this music? So very SOLEMN and SUBLIME, and of course his singing, too, so DEVOUT!

  • @corellithebest The piece was written by Albert Hay Malotte

  • Without a doubt, the greatest Tenor of all time... Caruso, Pavarotti, Dominigo, Carrarras,,, all eat your hearts out. I don't mention Bocelli because he isn't in the same universe as Mario

  • RIP Mario! We loved you!

  • Most Powerful! Thanks for posting

  • what film is this from

  • @rabblue the naam of the film is the great caruso

  • B*E*A*U*T*I*F*U*L*

  • God bless you Mario

  • God himself looked over his shoulder to see who was singing this. This is the greatest version I have ever heard of this song.

  • The greatest voice in history.

  • Heaven may be like this with all makinga joyful noise of praise. Music is indeed a wondwrful gift og God!

  • Bravo Mario, Bravo!

  • three words: superb Tenor voice

  • One of Lanza's finest recordings:) --

  • I could listen to this 24/7

  • Mario Lanza has the voice of the gods, the greatest voice i have heard never will there be a voice like his..

  • only a few can make you feel rising from your chair while their voices go up. what a sensation.

  • kool voice;) wow it's amazing the stuff u can find. Power and Glory Amen.

  • the voice of an angel everyone. he has the blessing of a beautiful voice.

  • A gift from god wow he can make you stop what you are doing

and pay attention to his singing. It's just beautiful.

Well god is lucky. He is now singing for them. Rest in peace.

  • Mario Lanza - Tenor - Nobody does it better - his voice is indeed touched by GOD.

  • this is as good , as it gets lanza had the voice many wished they had...

  • My grandfather , William Huff, discovered this great voice.

  • His voice was touched by GOD . What a wonderul tenor..I have all of his LP's

  • Mario Lanza is the greatest tenor I ever heard. Supposedly the great tenors of today still study his work.

  • My judgement of a singer is on the variety of his voice range.some singers are very good at the powerful songs some are very good at the low range. On very rare occasions you get a singer who is brilliant at both.mario Lanza had that brilliance.I grew up listening to this type of music which my father loved. In my opinion mario Lanza was the greatest bar none.

  • what texture is this ? monaphonic, polyphonic, homaphonic?

  • It's homophonic because it concist of melody and accompaniment. You could see polyphonic above all at Bach's fugue.

Monophonic has only one part of melody. for ex: gregorian chant.

  • The power and the control of his voice is amazing, thank God for giving such a gift!

  • Just Beautiful. Nelson Eddy-a baritone recorded a beautiful rendition of "The Lord`s Prayer" and sang it numerous times in his concerts and on radio. Thank You for sharing with Us. Lorraine

  • goodnight and godless mam.

  • Paul Potts??? Good God, as good as Potts is he could never compare with the great Mario Lanza...

  • @silverstartrucker Yes, neither are opera singers. Potts might not even qualify as a singer.

  • @silverstartrucker Paul Potts good?? Are you nuts?

  • @silverstartrucker Paul Potts isn't good at all.

  • god bless mario lanza

  • he sang many years ago so do not mock a legend

  • Jalousy......

  • o my god what a beautiful voice singing the lords prayer it brings tears to you eyes i am sur he is singing to our lord right now.

  • TLDMdotorg

    love it

    never disapointed!

    bravo!

  • Holy Guacamole!!! I found out about this guy when a newspaper reporter asked Elvis who his favorite singer was, and the King said

"Mario Lanza" They just don't make singers like this guy anymore.

  • God almighty :)

  • Words just fail me, except to say Im in tears, this is so Beautiful

  • Some people might say that's the Protestant version of the Our Father, right? Well actually... that's the Eastern Rite version.

  • Wow...what a voice!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love Mario amazing man i have his cd on my ipod

  • I'd like to see today's "singers" take on this song.

  • Paul Potts?

  • TPLR2 Please..spare us..don't even use him in

    the same conversation with Lanza...

  • @tripletrules I made a comment on your page, but the lousy youtube censors did not post it!

  • @tripletrules absolutly brilliant, brilliant voice,

  • @tripletrules well im sixteen and so do i

  • @tripletrules

You are THE MAN. I agree. I am 21, and this is the BEST.

  • @tripletrules i am 17 i agree with you and i think mario lanza is great he is my favourite!

  • @MaNiGreeCeLOL mine too. I'm 18 and Mario's voice influences me in my classical side!

  • @tripletrules God also is sickened by it: Amos 8:3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence. Daniel 3:7

Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

  • @mrskarenkatz Blessed be God. Blessed be His Holy Name.

  • @tripletrules I have the same problem with you. IN my country oyr singers have poor quality sond and voices! And the people here thing that they had goodly voices! Is terrible!

  • why do the best ones have to die so young? we have youngsters singing all kinds of shite and they dont go off fast enough! so sad.

  • Thanx Maestro Lanza!

  • one word MAGICAL !

  • Wonderful! One of my big influences!

  • Lanza died very young, when only 38. His wife also died five months later, aged just 37. Also tragic, was how their children all died before the age of 60.

  • i like that song too....hehe......i completely agree!

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • Oh this was just something else...beautiful...and yes..from the heart..again, thank you so much for sharing.

  • a voice from the heart, and soul, thats why he was the best. simple but true...

  • Absolutely true!!!! I couldn´t agree more with your comment!!!!!

  • more dynamic than the spoken version!

  • The shame of it all is that the Italian government would not allow him to be burried next to Enrico Caruso which was his wish.

  • His wife and mother would not allowed it, not the Italian goverment.

  • great man, great voice, the best ever sung, the lords prayer. sadly missed.

  • If only I could feel as close to JESUS as I do while hearing this performance, surely I will atain everlasting life in his Kingdom. AMEN

  • i would like to see the full movie pls is it on youtube?

  • Absolutely Beautiful!! Best Rendition of this song that I have ever heard.

  • Alfred Arnold Cocozza was a great american singer of his time

  • beautiful! Do you know the name of the movie?

  • I think it is from the movie called "Because You're mine".

    I hope this helps.

  • its from the student prince.

  • If you're talking about which movie this is from, it's from "Because You're Mine".

  • Considering that Mario didn't act in "The Student Prince", it would be impossible to see him sing this. Edmund Purdom played the part of the prince and lip-synced to Marios voice. The movie here is "Because You're Mine" with James Whitmore and Doretta Morrow.

  • probably the best tenor of our time, there will never be anyone like him again

  • there will never be another like him, I pray that he is entertaining all the angels in heaven. his loss was a tragedy that should not have happened. we played this version of the lord,s prayer at my aunts funeral, and it was very comforting., he will always be missed, and I pray he rests peacefully

  • oh my god, if I heard this (performance, arrangement...) at a funeral, I would have bawled. Mere chords can make me cry.

  • I am 29 and i think that he is the best!

I listen to all sorts of music.. but this is truly music as it should be

  • Yeah! He's in my top three. What a phenomenal(?) instrument.

  • You can have Luciano and Placido ....they're good, don't get me wrong. But Mario is the only one who makes me cry when I listen to him. There is such a depth of feeling in his voice that is excrutiatingly beautiful to me.

  • The 3 tenors never made me cry. John McCormack, Tito Schipa, Richard Crooks, Franz Voelker, Leo Slezak, Richard Verreau, etc., they can make me cry.

  • one of the finest tenors of all time

  • Mario was the best

  • I've worn out three sets of his five movies. I'm trying to find it on DVD. Wow, what a voice. Since I was a child, I wanted to sing like "Mario Lanza"....Alas, it wasn't to be. Only in my mind LOL. Rest in Peace Mario.

  • mario lanza could sing without a mic i know becouse i saw him in bradford in prob 1956 anyway a long time ago always been my fav singer

  • The greatest tenor of all time no doubt He had a gift from God, rest in peace Mario

  • Love it! Love It! Love it!

  • Mario Lanza had a voice that could not be duplicated. Although I am only 38 y/o, I grew listening to him thanks to my father.

    He is truely missed.

  • I turned 39 a few weeks ago, and my first thought was, I've now outlived Mario Lanza. However, I'd have to live to be 139 in order to accomplish what he did in his short time on this earth.

  • Well said
