@Warren111able I thought the visuals, and the battle at the end just allowed for it to get a third star. However I was probably too generous, and should have gave it 2 and a half. Thanks for watching
Originally, that is in the fucking real mythology, HyPerion WAS a Titan. That is just about as accurate as this movie is. It is a butchery of the Greek mythology stories. It has nothing to do with that.
If people want to see pretty pictures, go to an arthouse. This shit is killing taste and culture.
@Voxnulla Well HyPerion (How dare I get his name wrong) is not a Titan in this movie. He says that he was born a peasant like Theseus, so they got that wrong too.
Great review, set a few things straight as I had a lot of questions about this movie. I did want to see it since 300 had been plugged along with it all through it's advertising but I do find that I get really bored in the cinema if it drags out too much and you're having to wait constantly for the action !
@MissQueenVee Thanks. I do have to warn you that this does have long gaps with boring dialogue, and it does drag. Also another thing I noticed which I forgot to mention is that gore was cut out of the fight scenes to make it a 15. It might have had a harder edge if they had gone for the 18 certificate.
@VegasDannyReturns Yeah that movie overall was a disappointment. I am hoping Prometheus will be a great comeback from that. Although FOX pushing for a PG-13 has me worried
Just watching Peter Jacksons video blogs you can tell the production is on another level. Having said that there are only a few people that can shoot action and battle scenes on that scale. I've been really disappointed by recent attempts such as Centurion, The Eagle, Ironclad...three films where the fight scenes were boring and uninspired! Give me Ridley Scott, Peter Weir, Michael Man, hell even Mel Gibson....these guys can shoot exciting and involving battle scenes.
I appreciate the style and concept of films like this and 300, but I do feel that they lack weight and drama and ultimately leave me unsatisfied. I watched the extended Rings trilogy on bluray this week and after almost ten years it still remains a stunning achievement in every aspect not just the effects department. Character and story are so important and films like this and the Titans remake for example will always fall short.
I liked the movie but I thought the ending was to slow, because the deaths of theseus and the king were really slow cause he just stabs him and the passes out and gets beamed up to olympus, 300 was epic because every death was epic in that movie...thats my opinion btw great review!
I saw it last as well, and was looking forward to it for a while. Especially with the new Superman (an actor who I didn't realize was in Count Monte Cristo). I agree, it was very well acted.. but had a weak plot. Seemed to be lots of discontinuity too. The best part was the when Theseus rallied the troops. but when the Olympians were fighting, I wish Thor would just appear and end the battle!
Wasn't interested in this film until I learned the director is Tarsem. Might even see it in 3-D! Shame you feel the story lacked proper logic. The dialogue scenes sound annoying.
I'm more looking forward to Tarsem's Snow White film at this point.
What's the difference between a god and a titan? They both sound pretty intimidating. Terrific review, Dino!
@CineRam Titans seemed to be weaker, but were greater in numbers. I feel Tarsem is great with visuals, but he needs to make sure the characters have more depth to them. The script still need some work too.
nice vids keep up the good work mate

@VegasDannyReturns I really hope the Hobbit can follow suit with the Rings trilogy in that respect.
