  • wtf the ending LOL

  • ahh... atur aja lu bule ngibul aja..

  • Indonesia>>>> New York

  • love to visit there someday.

  • I remember crying when my bali vacation is over back when I was a kid. someday I will leave jakarta, leave the fast pace life and office works behind and settle there...

  • Wow, beautiful place. I would love to vacation there.

  • I really enjoy the conclusion to this episode. It gives a me a smile, knowing somewhere out there, life is more simple.

  • So are these "balinese" Indians or Asians who adopted Hinduism?

  • poor todd

  • Indonesia is not only just balii.. much more beautiful place than Bali ..

  • I love this guy, he is funny and entertaining!!

  • Hahahahaha... the ending is funny! I love my country. Glad to be born an Indonesian. Thanks for sharing the videos. ^_^

  • Those are only small parts of Indonesia. You suppose to have experience with the other islands. Papua is an exotic miraculous island located in the east . Kalimantan and Sulawesi are two paradises fallen to the earth. Sumatra is marvelous place wherein the uniqueness of Malay tradition is living. In Java, you can please stay in Jogja-Solo, 2 traditional towns formerly core of Javanese kingdom of Mataram. You'll witness local creativity emerge aside with modernity. Welcome & taste the atmosphere!

  • Awesome and beautiful country, Sucky Governments .

  • Best on TV IMO.Of all the wonderful, exotic, beautiful places he's gone, this is the one episode where he brings up quitting and staying.I think it's so telling that he found such an inspiration in Indonesia.I felt the same way there and decided to stay...for five years. And after a year's absence,I'm going back in just a matter of days. When he says it's always been his home, just waiting for him,I know exactly what he means. This episode is all the vindication I need for what I've said about Indo.

  • @gringgopad why do you say bring my daughter?

  • I'm Indonesian, in Australia now.. why am I here? the foods.. it's heaven... ooouucchh I know now.. when I see the paycheck back there... it's... hell.... lol

  • Businessman

  • I'm indonesian and i must say that soon bali will not as beautiful as you can see today because of those greedy rich ent

  • love the show, love bourdain, but that song sucked

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That ending from the Bali guy is FUNNEH

  • MMmmmmmm Jamie Aditya! Wonder if he still stays in Bali for I will be there in Jan!! *winks*

  • i dream of retiring in bali, it's soooo beautiful..

  • i gotta visit this place someday

  • are there any Indonesians here that can help me live in Indonesia? Im an American Muslim living in Egypt with my wife and we want to move to Indonesia insha'Allah.

  • @LIVfor1 Living in Indonesia is cheaper comparing to some other countries, where in Indonesia you are planning to live?

  • @indocafe2007 - i really don't know, but i don't wanna be in the big cities. i want a small quiet village in the forest somewhere, where i can grow my own food and not have to worry about the economy, insha'Allah.

  • Did a train roll by HAHA? I'm just Joking!

  • would be an awesome place to plan a vacation. wondering through the jungles, beaches and eating likea pig on Indonesian food. lol

  • Why do so many Indonesians dress like westerners? I like their own traditional clothes better... it's more... them, you know...

  • @Ofionnain indonesian dress you mean like Batik? they just wear it in important occasion, the rest it's a normal mode dress

  • @Ofionnain many ppl in the world are like that now. globalization, u know

  • i can tell you Tony's really fell in love with Indonesia..i've seen his other show

  • Indonesia, Paradise on earth :) From West to the East, all of the Islands.. are paradise :)

  • indonesia is our cousin, i am aust heh

  • sometimes i really do think like that.....

    leave the city....small apartments....crowded streets,starbucks and those.....

and live quietly in small town.....

    i'm tired of office work....

  • Well, this is more of like Bali, Indonesia instead of Indonesia. But it's still a nice episode and to cover Indonesia as a whole would obviously take more than one episode so..

  • Anthony Bourdain, I thank you that you didn't decide to live here coz i really enjoy watching your show. I love to travel around the world and know about other culture. I watch all your videos, etc.

  • Been looking for this episode for AGES!!! In my humble yet proud opinion as an Indonesia, anybody who says that Singapore or Hong Kong or New York is the Haven for Foodies has never been to Indonesia. He only travels to West Java and Bali, and sample the Padang, Serabi & Dodol and Babi Guling. He has yet to travel to Sumatera Utara (sample their own version of pork dishes), North Sulawesi (another place with exotic food ranging from bats to forest rats) and Eastern Indonesia for fresh seafood

  • i love this part, THE KECAK~!

  • Bourdain looks mellower here than I've ever seen him on TV. Any place that can have this effect on him must be truly magical!! I also saw that he spoke very warmly with the young chef - not like his snarky, abrasive self. Maybe Bourdain can move to Bali and help the young fellow expand his business!

  • Thanks for posting this. It was really helpful and insightful. I've been considering studying abroad but couldn't think of where to go but now I think I know.

  • i miss home... indonesia... seeing this tv show makes me homesick =( =(

  • Thank you very much for posting this episode,it's very nice..I've learnt.Indonesia has an amazing culture...the nature is very beautiful.

  • Great episode. Indonesia does something to you - it really is a paradise.

  • saya bangga menjadi penari kecak!

  • hell yeah...Indonesia Bali

  • one of the girl is cute

  • @washmeera22 Which one?

  • @athiam152 yeah which one?

  • indonesia is one of the best hot spots in asia! =)

  • you have to go to Ambon too...The Holy land..!!

  • Mr. Bourdain's talent to conjure the best possible comment is demonstrated here:

    "

    Indonesia, a paradise.

One of the earliest human ancestors: Java man, migrated here over one million years ago, and saw no reason to leave.

And as I finished my journey here in Bali,

I am beginning to see his point of view.

    "

    It's really nice of him.

  • Ahahaha in the end

"aah ancur aja lu..bule ngibul aja"

  • I want to go to Indonesia so bad. I'm in a long distance relationship with a girl in Bandung and I'm stuck here in Texas. If it wasn't for my daughter I'd soooo go bamboo. LOL.

  • @kdwildman bring ur daughter along

  • The Indonesian Bordain is talking to must not be a native Indonesian. He has great English and not much of an accent, and he understands sarcasm (America's true second language).

  • Jamie is native. He was one of the MTV VJs before.

  • why can't he be? I'm a native Indonesian and strangely having a British accent when speaking in English. What I mean is, he must've been living in Jakarta for quite long time. Because Indonesian language itself doesn't necessarily have an accent. Only most dialects have accent. It's just how we learn to speak it, I learn it by watching Harry Potter when I'm in 1st grade..

  • @DreeRoseanne who's harry potty?

  • Jamie is native.

  • You're still a bule. lol

  • LOVE IT SO MUCH .. I do love bali so much, and i want to have a house overthere

  • Love Jamie's answer :D : "err... I'm not leaving".

  • going to bali next june... YAYYY!! :)

  • kecak dans in uluwatu was really great especially with sunset

  • one of best episodes of 'no reservations' series for sure!

    next jalan jalan to Indonesia.

skills in my brain, rupiah in my pocket....

    GOING BAMBOO MUTHAS!

  • Indonesia...one day...God willing....one day....love to be there

  • thanks for this episode..:)

  • you now why the dutch colonized Indonesia for more than 350 years long...

the wealth, the spices, the peace....everything !!

the dutch called Indonesia "Gordel van Smaragd"

which is in english means "Belt of the Emerald" but we're all tired been slaves for some egoists.. so i love my Indonesia is free even now for a while staying in this poor cold Holland :(

  • Comment removed

  • ''aahhh,,,ancurr aja loe bule ngibul aja'' ,,,HAHAHHAA,,,,Nice episode...With Beer Bintang at the end,,,Nice..

  • Wow, the monkey dance is the original techno/rave music. There is nothing new.

  • Bali is one of Indonesian island. Indonesia have many other exotic tradition.

  • sorry, i give coment with other language. cause my english so poor.

Indonesien hat so viele Ecke zu besuchen. z.B Sumatra, Westpapua,Borneo, Sulawesi usw.

  • @IHyRaXI thai n khmer is from java kingdom

  • I live in Malaysia, but I have never been to Indonesia before......MUST GO THERE

  • yup. you should go there. especially bali, yogyakarta, bandung, and of course, Jakarta, the capital city. it is the world of possibility. ^^

  • terima kasih.....

  • Been all the places you mentioned. Like Bali the most. Dreaming to retire there :))

  • bali is actually d cheaper version of cancun if u will,,,yet with better clubs....bule ngibul aja hits it...hahaha

  • what are you talking about? cancun is devoid of culture! while bali is has one of the most unique culture on the face of the earth

  • cancun is made of of beer, naked white girls, and dumb college kids. so if tongki say that bali is a cheaper version of cancun, then he's high. cancun is not even mexican anymore, it a fucking american capitalistic breeding ground.

  • ah man, these are the thoughts that corrupted Bali nowadays, if you want to get cheap thrills just go to Pattaya or Cancun. its quite saddening seeing Bali now being exploited for the "Bule" sakes.

  • Poor todd XD

  • I can understand why Tony wants to settle in Indonesia. I've been to Bali only once but it totally felt like home! :)

  • Any time youre ready tony... anytime.. there is always spaces for you in Indonesia

to complete the journey of indonesia....

each island have its own uniqueness, and its special...

  • 17.000 islands if you count, you need 55 years to spend each one for 1 day

I am Indonesian, but i dont think ill able to see entire part of indonesia in my lifetime, even tho i wish to. :(

we modern human just getting busy and busier working and making money ......

I really wanna go home, where I was born.

Bali, I love you so much.

Miss you coconut trees, beaches, everything.

    I'll be back one day.

  • I heard dubai is planning to make an investment on lombok island (an island near Bali)..

its going tobe huge.. cant wait

  • what're they going to do with the island?

  • disney world!

  • oh lordie lol hope not

  • @antiwoz making it look like their desert land arab maybe?

  • @antiwoz they are going to make the 2nd Bali

  • yes....Dubai investors are investing big money in Lombok. They even push the local government to build a new airport in Central Lombok (which is more modern than the one in Selaparang).

I just hope that Lombok can maintain its serenity and tranquility. Investments are good, but the authenticity has to be preserved too.

  • yes, and hope the local government ables to mantain the authenticity and eradicate the poverty, simultaneously.

  • @drygene Yeah and for sure they will bring all these hardcore islam things together with their money. It will be not the same place anymore...

  • Thank you so much for uploading this video, I really enjoy it.

  • This is my fav also. I love Bali so much, the place where I spend my holiday almost every year...I love that suckling pig!! damnnnn I must go to Ubud again this year, Ibu Oka, wait for me!

  • thanks a lot for posting the whole episode.

it got me reminiscing on the 11 years I lived in Jakarta. I had the privileged to travel Sumatra, Java, Bali and Lombok by car [viva Kijang], and seeing Bourdain's trip really made me miss the true colors of Indonesia. Really, the country should invest more on its diversity [food, culture, religion, etc]. Change the president, fix the cabinet, and stop corrupting the people. Rakyat banting tulang, tapi pejabat* pesta. So wrong.

  • Even for a Jakartan like me and having been to Bali several several times, Bali always is breath taking. The perfect paradise to rest & relax & forget about the hectic life. The sights, sounds, smells, & taste are amazing.

  • I'm also a Jakartan, but in my opinion Bali is no different from all the other countrysides all over Indonesia natural beauty-wise, but I do agree that the culture is enchanting.

  • hahaha... Bule ngibul aja... ehehhe. I can safely say that Indonesia is a treasure chest when it comes to gastronomic experiences... good thing in a way that not a lot of people know it. Thanks for putting this up.

  • I love it !

  • Wow soo fascinating the dance and the Women are soo lovely, their like angelic dolls out of a sweet dream.

I probably shouldn't ever go their because I am afraid I would not be able to leave smiles.

I think I understand exactly how He feels without even being there but thankfully even if it's put on hold for now He can always return later to retire.

Ty soo much for posting this,it was soo wonderful and I realy do wanna go there now.

  • Gilaaaa... yeaa, sedemikian dahsyat daya tarik indonesia buat Anthony. Bagaimana dng mereka yg punya power capital sangat besar & efektif kira kira apa yeaaa yg dilakukan buat ketertarikannya untuk Indonesia???? yeaaa.. rock n rolll.... you know lah.!!!

  • thanks for posting this. i live in indonesia myself, but i hardly seen other parts of my own country.

  • That's usually the case with people who love travelling. sometimes we can find the best sights and experiences right where we live, we just have to look

  • the ironic part is that i've been travelling around the world all my life, but i haven't able to travel in my own country.

yeah, silly girl - i know!

  • The most comprehensive story about foreigner travel in Indonesia so far. Great job documentary.

  • i love this show. thanks for posting this video. i've been looking for it...

  • Jamie! Oh I remember him, he was an MTV Vj asia. He's the funniest.

  • Thank you! i've been looking for this for so long :} This is also my favorite episode

  • i think bourdain's high in this video. Why's he all red and giggly?

  • Lol well He probably found what everyone else did a lil happiness maybe but then I could be wrong lol.

  • lmfao@DISHES

  • Baliiii.....

  • YEAH,..INDONESIA Is Paradise!!! DUDE (The chef) I do strongly agree with you that Chicago is bitterly cold!!! Anthony,...If you wanna settle in Indonesia, you are very welcome to stay at my home. I'll take you to Bogor and Jogja,...I betcha you'll like it

  • WELCOME TO INDONESIA, guys! my beautiful country!!

  • Wow. Indonesia seems like such a magical place. I would love to go visit.
