what it really comes down to is this guys...should we let nature take its course? or do we try to take control of it ourselves? i personally think it is smarter to let nature take its course. i am very skeptical about things and this is no different. many of us have grown up playing video games and things like that so many of us might think this is really cool...but can you imagine what it would be like to become immortal and then want to die forever? would be pretty bad wouldnt it?
Our goal as physical beings is to ultimately advance our knowledge and by doing so advance in the spiritual knowledge of our selves which is eternal. This technology was created by a man who fears what he percieves as death. He has no understanding of the spiritual capabilities of mankind. Now he wants to share is nightmares with the world and there and many like him who are working towards that goal. These people are living a false sense of reality and will be destroyed by it.
@99645md I don't even know where to start with you, there's not one intelligent thought that came out of your moronic rant. Someone who believes in spirituality shouldn't be lecturing anybody about living in a false reality. Don't belittle the accomplishments and hard work of scientists who dedicate their lives to advancing human civilization. Do the world a favor and remove yourself from the "physical realm."
@GodofSpanaway Thank you for your lovely message. I think the science endeavors in advancing humanity no longer exist. I dont know what world you live in but the world I live in has only used science to cause more harm to humanity than they care to admit. Ray kurzweil began his singularity idea by his own admission in a quest to one day resurrect his beloved father. I would think that any one longing for imortality has a geart fear of death. Wouldn't you?
@99645md Kurzweil's only predicting the singularity based on his law of accelerating returns, he's not causing it to happen. Put simply, science is a method for obtaining knowledge. To say that science isn't advancing humanity, is like saying that knowledge isn't advancing humanity. Given the fact that knowledge is the only thing that has ever caused progress of any sort, I would say that you need a serious reality check.
Every attempt of science to improve humanity has always taken the wrong turn and in most cases always by design. You so called intellictuals always feel you know what is right for humanity. Perhaps we need to fix our moral issuse before we try to play God. And as for me removing my self from the physical realm that is the perfect solution for you Narcissistic zionist and zionist worshipers who are the worlds abomination. once you are rid of the world will be a better safer place for humanity.
@99645md you...are undeniably...the most sincere loser i have ever read posting on youtube...and ive seen some dumb stuff...first, if there was no science, most things that are being accomplished at this VERY minutes is only done due to the development of science on its natural part.
@99645md and from what I could detail from your page, such as your “Trollz” shows about lil girls, you have no excuse and reason at the age of 44. And as for the part of ridding yourself from the physical realm, though this would be a great idea, obviously GodofSpanaway was just showing how idiotic your phrasing is and tried to put it into terms on your behalf
People who are consumed by power are disillusioned in thinking that they can bend the hands of the natural forces that rule the universe. Ulitimately they can only go so far. The objective thought here is artificial. Any artificial force that tries to alter the powers of nature will be destroyed by it. Nature it self reveals this truth. You see it in every aspect of nature. There is a time and a season for all things in the physical realm.
eugenics, that's what happens ,, learn it know who's for it,, fight it,, why do i say that ,, well people like bill gates is for eugenics,, the president is fond of it,,,
@lastchancemst1 You don't really explain why you're against eugenics. Bill Gates and the President liking it isn't exactly a reason to fight something. It seems to me that your poor reasoning is probably due simple fear mongering. And for fuck sack, don't use so many fucking ellipses and when you do, use periods like you're supposed to.
If there are other intelligent creatures in the universe, why haven't they reached their 'singularity' yet? You would think there would be some evidence somewhere in the universe of this having already happening. Why don't we see evidence of super intelligent machine-alien hybreds transforming their galaxy? I think either 'singularity' is impossible, or alien intelligence doesn't exist. I can't see how you can have both.
@DRJames58 because those intelligent beings are so impossibly far away that we will likely never find them....search "Hubble deep field" here on youtube and prepare to have your mind blown
@skyinmind487 my arguement is an extension of the Fermi paradox, if ETs are common according to the Drake equation, why isn't there any evidence of their existance? I'm saying if singularity and ETs are common, why don't we see evidence of a Type III civilization on the Kardashev scale? I know all about intergalaxic distances, but in the thousands of images of galaxies, nothing like a Type III stands out. You would think a transformed galaxy would stand out like a proverbial sore thumb?
@DRJames58 like kurzweil said, beyond the point of singularity it is impossible to predict what happens. btw, there might be evidence of intelligent extra terrestrial lifeforms but we just don't see them.
1. just recently some scientists argue to have found another big planet in our solar system. now think of it... you want to see obvious evidence of intelligent life in our universe when we can't even find a planet in our own solar system?
Theres a lot of things you could potentially say to that.
1. Light only travels so fast. Even pictures of the other side of our galaxy, are tens of thousands of years old. Our closest neighbour galaxy, andromeda is 500,000 light years away. It takes light atleast that long to get here.
2. Galaxies are extraordinarly big things, even type III civilizations probably wouldn't stand out from such unfocused inspection.
@ghostbuddy You are correct in assuming the few civilisations which survive to maturity will not be friendly. They would destroy us at first sight, in fact.
3. Life existing is one thing. But life existing, and evolving into an intelligent organism that reaches the singularity is another. I think Mark Twain was on to something, when he suggested perhap intelligent life appears often in the universe, but their civilizations are usually wiped out before they can come of age.
4.Or perhaps the universe is ripe with war, and altruistic aliens are far less common than we think. And making yourself visible is a stupid thing to do.
Imagine living in the dark ages, Barbarians are running around pillaging villages. There are rumors of these barbarians. Theres little communication between villages because of the great distance between them, and the danger associated with travel. How tall would you build your buildings? Would you light a large ceremonious fire in the middle of your village, during the day time, knowing the smoke could be seen for miles?
We don't know. What we do know is: 1. Our technological progress is getting faster, and faster. 2. Our machines are getting better and better at proccessing information.
The only assumption left to make, is that we can create a machine smarter than we are. If you accept that much, and by all means I think you should be compelled to, the singularity is an inenvitability.
@DRJames58 You, sir, are correct. But Zoo Hypothesis kind of answers the paradox. We are at such an infantile stage of development that any advanced civilization that detects us wouldn't bother to contact us because they know we aren't ready for contact...so they leave us alone in our "zoo" until we are ready...and as for type III civilizations...i just don't think it's detectable with a telescope...too far away...either that or they just don't exist....yet :)
@pab7984 I'm gonna beat we will never "make" consciousness. We will all die. Something which everyone before and after you will face. This fear of the unknown.
Humans will ot succeed because we are not ready, if we o force our way into it we will be sorry afterwards. Look around, people are devolving into machines, we chosen our path, no turning back, don't cry after when u did not get what u longed for.
Correct. Machines aren't the only ones that can be altered. If someone came to you and said "With just a little genetic tweaking, we can make your child the future Einstien when he grows up", would you take it?
This is what is coming, as well. The human as we see it is still in it's beta phase.
We might call what I'm suggestion a 'forced evolution'.
It would be perfectly in line with biological evolution to consider this step as something that turns us into a transitional step towards something new and better adjusted, in this case more intelligent and overall powerful.
Online communities never fail to shock me as far as how terrible people are at writing in their own language. Piffpete420, were you drunk or high or was that actually supposed to be a sentence that other human beings can understand?
The arrival of the Singularity is IMMINENT and its effect upon transhumans will be beyond reckoning. Embrace your full potentials and prepare; when it arrives, there will be no freedom from AI, only freedom through AI.
subscribe to Ray Kurzweils idea that human evolution meets the profile of exponential change. however I would like to submite a theory that might shed light on the perplexities that we are experiencing particularly now.i beleive that human kind is undergoing two evolutions and they are excelerating at a different rate one is attached to biological evolution the other to consciosness we are literaly a psycological parisite exsisting on a biological host.
@metapatriot interesting hypothesis! Let me expound upon that idea by saying the human consciousness has evolved to reach the point at which it has more of a parasite/host with the biological mass it is contained within. Our psyche at one point was far less advanced than where it is now. It is only at this point in time where our consciouness has evolved through several generations of knowledge that we now can say our bodies/flesh is limited in comparison with the consciousness.

Self improving systems! Get it right! Human brains are inefficient and theres no point in trying to put them on computers. And a singularity is when an intelligent agent, like us, builds a more intelligent version of itself, which in turn is capable of building an even more powerful version of itself. And then you get to a point where you have a machine that is so powerful it can solve any problem in the shortest amount of time possible. Superintelligence.
I believe our consciousness of the human condition causes more human unconsciousness. Can our light and love can make a difference in our lifes it can be the same for the whole. The problem is that there is no problem. Once we can bring to our awareness what isn't working for us then we must then only be aware of what is the way. The way is unconditional love for us then for others. Madness begets madness. Sanity begets sanity.
there is a thing called extrapolation, like if you heat the water for 5 minutes you will get like 50c, logically for 4 fours you would get something above 100c.
That is extrapolation because it wont pass 100c (unless in hiperbaric enviroment).
We don´t know if we will develop as he planned...and if the laws of physic stop the possibility of nanotech computers or a electronic mind ?
no u are the stupid one here u dont listen to anyone but urself i gave u a perfectlly valid explanation and u call me stupid
u ll have to learn in life that people make mistakes even the smartest ones on earth made mistakes while u think ur almighty .....
i wont even succumb to your level ur probably a child that reads to much internet and thinks he knows it all U didnt even read my whole posts or u actually had but u are deffending know that im stupid i dont care what u call me...
Very Interesting, i know myself i feel very connected to others feeling and emotions and am able to see parts of myself within them. I hope that we evolve closer to living life by the golden rule because that is how i live, and i get taken advantage of alot..
he s not an expert on everything u have to learn in life that theres no ultimate human being that knows everything there are humans that process the given information differently....u cant pick ur nose into everything he pointed out the trully logical thinking that is possible,, forget about global warming guess he didnt look into it enough to judge....
everyone makes mistakes u must take whats logical to u-presented to you and aknowledge that not hust belive it science is not faith never was
@oldschoolrock4evr it's one thing to question, but he lock stock and barrel jump in head frist, .........that type of person deserves no creidt for logical thinking, I may or may not be correct about other issues by my persumption must be that he is not a rational person and therefor I can not be bothered with listening to what he has to say.
u still dont understand even if he is brainwashed (which he isnt maybe a little but we r all brainwashed to some point)
Anyway even if he is totally brainwashed his presentation has legit standpoints becouse its based on logic - logic cant be brainwashed under no way can it be changed it can be missled by information u would have a valid point in this case if the tehnology eveolving rate wouldnt be as high as he bases his presumptions on ....
@oldschoolrock4evr you're not getting the point! it don't fucking matter if he is right or wrong, anywone who is so eaisly brainwashed can not be taken seriously, I dont' care if I agree with his view point or not, he cannnot be trusted as a source of infromation. he is a sheep and a tool. PERIOD! what are u not understanding?
no ur not getting the point he doesnt present u the information he presensts you logical thinking that cannot be brainwashed how dont u understand this U would have a point if he talked about conspiracy theories where he could make shit up But when he talks about what he thinks or accords to fortell the future
then his mind works not with info but with logic logic cant be brainwashed it can not be used but reality logic is only one u can say that his logic is not logical but not what u said
@oldschoolrock4evr dude wtf are u even doing on this channel you're not smart enough, go away, how the fuck can somone son dumb proclaim to get anying, you must know your a very stupid person.
ORVX - you shouldn't be allowed to even post. Nothing you post is of any value to anyone and you truly show a lack of respect for anyone's ideas or beliefs. What are you even doing on here? This is way over your head or level of intelligence - clearly. Grow up before you go on trying to discredit people way smarter than you.
i believe singularities will be able to through evolution cause physical phenomena which cannot be explained to lesser minds like the tools of cave men to the tool less minds.

What absolute bullshit. 1star. I'm looking for the Singularity within phsysics that confuses the top scientist theorists...
I lasted 1 and a half minutes before stopping this vid. HOW CAN ANY COMPUTER EVER BE CHEAP AND DO EVERYTHING A HUMAN COULD? The economics of building any machine do not add up, and never will, it's like saying a brand new car will be cheap, everything has a price. I hate videos like this, the internet is terrible for REALLY GOOD information.
Not cars, Calculators. When the first ones came out they could only add, subtract and multiply and costs well over $100. Today I can get one with advanced calculus at the dollar store.
Why will they be cheap? When have they ever been cheap? They've been available for over 1hundred years and are still NOT cheap. You're a fucking fantasist. Answer me then, WHY WILL A BRAND NEW CAR BE CHEAP? If you can't answer then YOU shouldn't be commenting on this video.
i think eventually "money" as we know it will not exist. everything will be "free". if you can recieve an email attachment with real physical properties and live in virtual reality theres no rich or poor blah blah
I am sure that we are AI ourselves. What is artificial and what is natural when you think about it ?. I don't mean what it is described as in Websters either.
Just as we will create AI. We have been created (by what or who is the million dollar question)
All I can say is I hope it gets here before I die. I want to be able to extend my life and live on, after all. 100 years is too short for me. And I'd be lucky to make it that long naturally.
People have the odd power to change the world around them, but fear change. If everything is done carefully using philosophical concepts of where the conscious mind ends and begins we shouldn't have a problem with small additions to our mind. We've already proven that a person can telepathically control a computer, someday we may not need the computer at all, just a connection or rather Wi-Fi
The fastest route to the mind is through the senses we already have. At this level we don't need chips in our heads, we can do it using augmented reality glasses with a digital overlay to the world, adding new senses by augmenting touch and sound.
There's no need for intrusive surgery before we can actually extend the conscious experience into external matter.
it may be that only some aspects of emotions arise from drugs in the brain, what if they're mostly from the brain itself, then all scientiant beings would have emotions of some kind, in fact conscious networks would most likely be more like selfish children than well-educated, emotionless adults.
its seeming more and more you cant fit scientience on a conventional comp, so they will be quantum comps da same as our brains are before they can think like us, thus thymust pass thru childhood 1st
In this the matter of opportunistically shifting the definition of what is human is a glaring turd in the minds of the twisted, highly educated minds of trans humanists. The primal god emotion is about the spiritual identification with existence. Humans in general are emotionally connected to any existence associated with their own existence, even if it is a non-human, dystopian entity or if identifying with it, leads to their own death.
You fool. Soon technology will be so great that all of us on this earth now will live FOR EVER. How is that bad for us? Evolution is the only important thing there is. Technology will empower all of us.
So the fact that technology is increasingly complexifying since 200.000 B.C. has no purpose or goal what so ever?
Its not that we are going to be uploaded into a transistor matrix or even a silicone based platform. It would be more likely that its going to be a platform greater and more complex than you are capable of imagining in your current state.
I heard one professor from the UK state that the invention of every single tool Homosapien --and every stage in human evolution before-- has ever used and will use has affected its evolution only for the better, despite its points where said tools cause harm. Imagine what the human race could be capable of when he can think in 10 dimensions instead of the three we do now.
Trans human metamorphosis would be expensive, and would happen at the cost of the human lives of the majority who could not afford it. You cannot mess with the inner human ecosystems and expect Nirvana. The ongoing rape of the biosphere of mother earth and the rape of the biosphere of the human mind are intimately related. It includes faith in gods and faith in the delusional realism of the symbols of reason.
hy mate,i'm quite new in this subject.could you pin point some materials that i can watch and learn more about Singularity.or send me a private message, you seem to know a lot about this.Thanxs
Maybe, but in bettering ourselves and machines around us, we'd obviate any further 'rape' of the earth. In not progressing any further, we'd not only exhaust our food and water supply but also our oxygen. We're in a current state of crudeness and sophistication both at same the time. Not a good thing. The ultimate goal is a nirvana. ...
Granted it'll never be perfect because we're always changing with the environment, but if we can work in sync with our technology, we can come up with a solution of cleaner fuels, cleaner, air, grown protein rather than mass killing of animals for consumption. All these things are just around the corner and I strongly suggest we get there as soon as possible.
I am sick of religious nuts. "Singularity" is more of the same, and it is a continuation of the increasing sophistication or abstractification of essentially the same Nonsense. Existence is the essence of existence. It is miraculous. Nothing else. Consciousness is not the essence of physical structure. If humanity allows the idiocy of Singularity to occur, humanity will be extinct.
Singularity prophets' kind of mentality is only the last version of religious rubbish forcing humanity to mindlessly go along with the accelerating mechanical processes of its own destruction. Transhumanist Artificial Intelligence = Human Extinction.
The charge of hypocrisy is a lame excuse to ostracize anyone who objects to the point of utter impotence. We are in the machine Gucker07. We cannot escape it, except by slowing it down and scaling it down. Where do you suggest I escape to? There is no God. Consciousness is not the essence of physical structure.
Gucker07. Unfortunately I am right. Human integration with intelligence 10^n times human intelligence is equal to human extinction. Concepts like "hypocrite," "dumb," "life expectancy," and "quality of life" are then irrelevant.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
We will do this. We will do that. Rubbish. The only thing relevant about us then is that we will be extinct. What we must do now is to stop technology in its tracks.
Why don't you throw away your computer and head into the woods then? Otherwise you're a fucking hypocrite.
Luddites are so dumb it boggles the mind. We owe our very existence to technology, we could never sustain 6 billion people without it. Not to mention an incredible increase in life expectancy, quality of life etc.
IMHO, this planet wasn't made to sustain 6billion people with this kind of lifestyle for so long. Not mention the disparity of quality of life in different income classes in different parts of the world. If we don't change something, we will probably learn the hard way and not even reach "singularity"
man will always yearn to live eternity like wind earth an sun . Life an death is part of all life forms .Man cant escape this even is machine will have same fate as all matter degenerates in time .This is because all matter is being bombarded by invisable to man. This matter also give all life forms life, its the life force of univers. Best we can hope for is to come closer with nature an earth. Its threw knowlegde we gain from life its self that heaven will be created on earth
Great video. I've already gone on and started thinking about even larger ramifications of these theories, and I can't decide whether I'm scared or not by what I've thought... things so vastly different from what I know or understand from personal experience that I'm scared instinctively.
no digital computer has shit on neural networks. Sorry. It is shocking how little the AI community knows about neurobiology. I keep looking at these videos, trying to find SOMEone who either a. takes the problems of humanness seriously or b. has any understanding of the difference between an infinitely codified and simultaneous nature of neural signaling and the ceaseless bottle-necking process of digital computing. Read some Neurobiology!!!
It's to be expected that a group of people fixated on granting computers a simulated thought to be so specialized in their field that they forget to research the very thing that they're trying to simulate in proper depth. Such is the problem with specialization.
there's nothing to survive in singularity. Singularity itself is survival from all the perils the world as it is has to offer. Singularity itself means winning in life for everyone. Whee.
Let an ultraintelligent machine be defined as a machine that can far surpass all the intellectual activities of any man however clever. Since the design of machines is one of these intellectual activities, an ultraintelligent machine could design even better machines; there would then unquestionably be an intelligence explosion, and the intelligence of man would be left far behind. Thus the first ultraintelligent machine is the last invention that man need ever make.
I would like to point out that there is a massive difference between complexity and raw processes per second capacity.
A small volume of hydrogen contains enough power to run an entire city for a year, but so far, we have only been able to successfully release that power in a detonation capable of destroying said city.
Even if we were handed a brain's worth of processes per second on a chip today, it would still be a long time before we had the techniques to use it effectively.
What I'm getting at is this. The difference between our current computational paradigm (all digital, linear processing) and the brain (mixed digital/analogue, massively parallel processing) may be so divergent, that we may have to start from scratch if we truly want to develop systems that mimic human thought and perception in any significant way... and that doesn't even touch on the problem of how best to program, control and use such systems.
yes but in order to speed up technology we would have to all contribute or we would all perish. Also the more we live like we are the less social and more anti social we become. We are slowly loosing the interest with interacting with each other.
why do you want to increase knowledge when we will all die? Yes it is a great thing to expand our knowledge for our curious minds. I never said to completely give up, i simply stated that if you have enough knowledge to see what you cannot stop. Then don't panic just enjoy what you have left. Think of it this way "stress" or "Enjoyment"? I believe enjoyment is better for the human body and puts less physical and mental strain on us. What seems more natural to you?
I'm not badgering your opinion, but if you were to talk about the natural nature of humans than your way is simply not that case. Naturally we are curious, all ape species are. We observe, think, calculate, and experiment. That is simply just who we are. I just don't agree with everyone slowing down. We need to speed up technology (with altered manufacturing techniques) and work towards getting off of this planet if anything.
lets c if you know how to play the earth was toxic or the earth was either on fire or icecold, icetime... hmmm maybe thats where we will (again) be put, to chill once more, and then the spiral continues and a new eaon is created, we just could´t remember we had been here before, but we now had discovered another unknown red dusty planet called earth, and we were sure that it once in time had contained water and life, a great discovery...
You see the universe. You see the patterns. You see the foreshadowing that proceeds every moment, of every day. It's all there. You see it, and we don't.
And your words inspire the integration to continue. I thank you. Who's going to be the aeon man? The game is to out-create while following the golden rule. Let go and be free. Emotions or not, lower beast or fierce priest, wizardly prophet or martyred savior, initiation of death. Silence is the greatest teacher, if only we could learn to listen. Partake in the creation, for your brothers and sisters must slumber while you delay
humour is the best way to fight this, i got mad in the start when people were making fun of all written, now i c the bigger picture, nothing, nothing at all can beat happyness, you may not c the cat but a cat never feel real and close to ya, it feels alive and dead at the same time, i just wanna feel alive and not breathe this shitty vortex of knowledge, now it is your turn to bite the sour apple to c the worm and to c where it will take ya, you would give it all away to c the old world again
i agree. I am a smart person atleast as i see it. I believe that the only way we can truly live in this world and continue is to look more towards being happy. Because if you are happy you will have less weighing your mind down. But with knowledge comes a price, a price of saddening experiences and depressing facts.
For example if you now that the world will end at a certain time then that is all you will concentrate on. But if you do not know that the world will end at that time you are not weighed down by the coming doom and continue happy. Because in the end if we will truly all die then there is nothing that we can do to prevent it. Then why worry about what we cannot change. Just be happy and enjoy what we have left.
If your views were expressed by the majority of the world populous, we would certainly be fucked. Science would never move forward, knowledge would be repressed, and intelligence would be looked down upon. There is no forward motion in your plan, just humans sitting in wastefulness waiting to die. That's a sad life for a species in which is capable of so much.
and behind stood the ugly looking boys, you know the clownes, that said strange things, but your head was not made for such beauty, you allready marked us and judged us because of our look and yet you speak of truth=knowledge, why when your eyes are so easy to cheat, you are not ready, you still haven´t open the door in ya brain which leads to your heart, like you could meassure the infinity when infinity is infinity+infinity. Carbon in ya venes it´s nanobot time but us? where are we?
if you want conscience.... try to sniff amphetamine, then you will fly fast enough to c.... but you will only c a black cloud that can´t offer you any kind of happyness, conscience, what is it you want to discover, sorrowness, sadness, lack of energy in ya body, destruction, like you could bare that, you little lab rat, all knowing cocksuckers i hope you will c the blaze in a pyrex glass, one day all queted become reality, and the little "smart" guys would be knocked to the floor crying noooo
I did a search for "singularity" as in physics and this is what I got. Well, interesting, but likely FALSE. As a kid who used computers when they had just invented "Windows Paint" and as an adult who keeps a nearly constant watch for prices of hardware, the release of "new" stuff and the way those items and their trends have improved [plotting the direction], I call BS. We eventually switch to fiber optic boards [likely change to a 3, then 6 color system to replace the linear binary]...
And have holographic hard drives reading the six colors off of the drive. With that, we may be able to map the human brain. We will not be able to replicate it's thoughts. Computers do one thing and they do it well. Compute. The thing is, we are illogical and unpredictable [aside from our motives, our imaginations can be random at will]. When we want, we can execute commands for no reason. That is something a computer has never been able to do.
Computers need a reason, a command line. We don't. A.I. is more theoretical than dark matter and maybe that will change. But as of current, I call bullshit.
Flying monkeys dropped bombs on marz because I wanted that letter instead of ess and by the way grape r good an i a n00(3. just cuz and ill typ teh typos cuz i liek random whores.
I could make those examples all day without much thought.
Task: Find the algorithm.
How long did it take you?
The worst part? That's calculating my output. Not creating it for no reason. Enjoy your theories.
It's arguable whether we can execute commands for no reason. Your reason for generating that gibberish was to prove that humans are capable of chaotic behavior that can't be explained easily mathematically. This is true. However, its content is not truly random as there are clear patterns in it. No one is arguing that we'll be able to map an entire human brain any time soon; point in fact, you don't need to have a blueprint of a computer to design a new computer.
You do need to understand the basic principles it relies on; why it can be used for what it's used for is far less complex than its full design. We aren't going to be scanning people into computers any time soon, but we will be growing new brains. Teaching them things in a similar way that we teach dogs and mice, and then later babies and high-schoolers. AI is not theoretical - these ideas are being used now, in real-world applications, with results impressive enough to warrant big money.
b) I take it you have some basic concept of how computers work right?
c) There are much more important things to do with computers than creating the same thing we can create by fucking the opposite sex without a condom. For example, we should be working on an operating system that never crashes with supposedly compatible software!
There are some important differences between a biological mind and one made with software. First, they need never die, and they aren't limited by the same things we are for our survival. They still need electricity, but they can be easily saved and restored if that runs down. Second, they have the advantages that computers have in terms of brute linear processing power. Our brains are very well adapted to parallel processing, which is messy, slow, and imprecise for certain tasks.
Third, by necessity as much as chance, the brain is a very closed system. With software we can, (and eventually the AI itself can) examine parts of its brain, add large sections experimentally, backup and restore mental states should damage occur, and input large amounts of data directly from the outside world. Fourth, and most importantly, the core software that generates the mind could eventually be understood by the AI and tweaked over generations to become smarter and more efficient.
I respectfully disagree. there is no reason to think that there is some special quality in the mind or brain that is "uncapturable" by models or simulations. That is, or was, the traditional view of dualism in neuroscience, which has now been thoroughly debunked. While we find out more about neurons all the time there is nothing indicating that there is a non-physical (information is important as matter energy see physical information) nature or structure within the brain. That'd be a surprise.
what it really comes down to is this guys...should we let nature take its course? or do we try to take control of it ourselves? i personally think it is smarter to let nature take its course. i am very skeptical about things and this is no different. many of us have grown up playing video games and things like that so many of us might think this is really cool...but can you imagine what it would be like to become immortal and then want to die forever? would be pretty bad wouldnt it?

Our goal as physical beings is to ultimately advance our knowledge and by doing so advance in the spiritual knowledge of our selves which is eternal. This technology was created by a man who fears what he percieves as death. He has no understanding of the spiritual capabilities of mankind. Now he wants to share is nightmares with the world and there and many like him who are working towards that goal. These people are living a false sense of reality and will be destroyed by it.
99645md 6 months ago
@99645md I don't even know where to start with you, there's not one intelligent thought that came out of your moronic rant. Someone who believes in spirituality shouldn't be lecturing anybody about living in a false reality. Don't belittle the accomplishments and hard work of scientists who dedicate their lives to advancing human civilization. Do the world a favor and remove yourself from the "physical realm."
GodofSpanaway 5 months ago
@GodofSpanaway Thank you for your lovely message. I think the science endeavors in advancing humanity no longer exist. I dont know what world you live in but the world I live in has only used science to cause more harm to humanity than they care to admit. Ray kurzweil began his singularity idea by his own admission in a quest to one day resurrect his beloved father. I would think that any one longing for imortality has a geart fear of death. Wouldn't you?
99645md 5 months ago
@99645md Kurzweil's only predicting the singularity based on his law of accelerating returns, he's not causing it to happen. Put simply, science is a method for obtaining knowledge. To say that science isn't advancing humanity, is like saying that knowledge isn't advancing humanity. Given the fact that knowledge is the only thing that has ever caused progress of any sort, I would say that you need a serious reality check.
GodofSpanaway 5 months ago
Every attempt of science to improve humanity has always taken the wrong turn and in most cases always by design. You so called intellictuals always feel you know what is right for humanity. Perhaps we need to fix our moral issuse before we try to play God. And as for me removing my self from the physical realm that is the perfect solution for you Narcissistic zionist and zionist worshipers who are the worlds abomination. once you are rid of the world will be a better safer place for humanity.
99645md 5 months ago
@99645md you...are undeniably...the most sincere loser i have ever read posting on youtube...and ive seen some dumb stuff...first, if there was no science, most things that are being accomplished at this VERY minutes is only done due to the development of science on its natural part.
91Tennis 5 months ago
@99645md and from what I could detail from your page, such as your “Trollz” shows about lil girls, you have no excuse and reason at the age of 44. And as for the part of ridding yourself from the physical realm, though this would be a great idea, obviously GodofSpanaway was just showing how idiotic your phrasing is and tried to put it into terms on your behalf
91Tennis 5 months ago
People who are consumed by power are disillusioned in thinking that they can bend the hands of the natural forces that rule the universe. Ulitimately they can only go so far. The objective thought here is artificial. Any artificial force that tries to alter the powers of nature will be destroyed by it. Nature it self reveals this truth. You see it in every aspect of nature. There is a time and a season for all things in the physical realm.

DRJames58 11 months ago
@DRJames58 because those intelligent beings are so impossibly far away that we will likely never find them....search "Hubble deep field" here on youtube and prepare to have your mind blown
skyinmind487 11 months ago
@skyinmind487 my arguement is an extension of the Fermi paradox, if ETs are common according to the Drake equation, why isn't there any evidence of their existance? I'm saying if singularity and ETs are common, why don't we see evidence of a Type III civilization on the Kardashev scale? I know all about intergalaxic distances, but in the thousands of images of galaxies, nothing like a Type III stands out. You would think a transformed galaxy would stand out like a proverbial sore thumb?
DRJames58 11 months ago
@DRJames58 like kurzweil said, beyond the point of singularity it is impossible to predict what happens. btw, there might be evidence of intelligent extra terrestrial lifeforms but we just don't see them.
1. just recently some scientists argue to have found another big planet in our solar system. now think of it... you want to see obvious evidence of intelligent life in our universe when we can't even find a planet in our own solar system?
2. in singularity many things can go wrong...
spanishprisoner 11 months ago
@DRJames58
Theres a lot of things you could potentially say to that.
1. Light only travels so fast. Even pictures of the other side of our galaxy, are tens of thousands of years old. Our closest neighbour galaxy, andromeda is 500,000 light years away. It takes light atleast that long to get here.
2. Galaxies are extraordinarly big things, even type III civilizations probably wouldn't stand out from such unfocused inspection.
ghostbuddy 10 months ago
@ghostbuddy You are correct in assuming the few civilisations which survive to maturity will not be friendly. They would destroy us at first sight, in fact.
TheJamesrocket 10 months ago
@DRJames58
And making yourself visible is a stupid thing to do.
ghostbuddy 10 months ago
@DRJames58
Imagine living in the dark ages, Barbarians are running around pillaging villages. There are rumors of these barbarians. Theres little communication between villages because of the great distance between them, and the danger associated with travel. How tall would you build your buildings? Would you light a large ceremonious fire in the middle of your village, during the day time, knowing the smoke could be seen for miles?
ghostbuddy 10 months ago
@DRJames58
We don't know. What we do know is: 1. Our technological progress is getting faster, and faster. 2. Our machines are getting better and better at proccessing information.
The only assumption left to make, is that we can create a machine smarter than we are. If you accept that much, and by all means I think you should be compelled to, the singularity is an inenvitability.
ghostbuddy 10 months ago
@DRJames58 You, sir, are correct. But Zoo Hypothesis kind of answers the paradox. We are at such an infantile stage of development that any advanced civilization that detects us wouldn't bother to contact us because they know we aren't ready for contact...so they leave us alone in our "zoo" until we are ready...and as for type III civilizations...i just don't think it's detectable with a telescope...too far away...either that or they just don't exist....yet :)

subscribe to Ray Kurzweils idea that human evolution meets the profile of exponential change. however I would like to submite a theory that might shed light on the perplexities that we are experiencing particularly now.i beleive that human kind is undergoing two evolutions and they are excelerating at a different rate one is attached to biological evolution the other to consciosness we are literaly a psycological parisite exsisting on a biological host.
metapatriot 1 year ago

Houshalter 1 year ago
I believe our consciousness of the human condition causes more human unconsciousness. Can our light and love can make a difference in our lifes it can be the same for the whole. The problem is that there is no problem. Once we can bring to our awareness what isn't working for us then we must then only be aware of what is the way. The way is unconditional love for us then for others. Madness begets madness. Sanity begets sanity.

MokuCat 2 years ago
The fastest route to the mind is through the senses we already have. At this level we don't need chips in our heads, we can do it using augmented reality glasses with a digital overlay to the world, adding new senses by augmenting touch and sound.
There's no need for intrusive surgery before we can actually extend the conscious experience into external matter.

humans should never give robots that kind of power
8359756 2 years ago
i do not think robots will abuse "power". I think power only exists because of human emotions. The logical computer will never see it in this light.
motowater 2 years ago
it may be that only some aspects of emotions arise from drugs in the brain, what if they're mostly from the brain itself, then all scientiant beings would have emotions of some kind, in fact conscious networks would most likely be more like selfish children than well-educated, emotionless adults.
its seeming more and more you cant fit scientience on a conventional comp, so they will be quantum comps da same as our brains are before they can think like us, thus thymust pass thru childhood 1st

The ultimate goal is a nirvana. ...

Granted it'll never be perfect because we're always changing with the environment, but if we can work in sync with our technology, we can come up with a solution of cleaner fuels, cleaner, air, grown protein rather than mass killing of animals for consumption.

AutodidacticPhd 2 years ago 2
cont.
AutodidacticPhd 2 years ago 2
yes but in order to speed up technology we would have to all contribute or we would all perish.

What seems more natural to you?
dragonareawsome 2 years ago

Emotions or not, lower beast or fierce priest, wizardly prophet or martyred savior, initiation of death. Silence is the greatest teacher, if only we could learn to listen. humour is the best way to fight this, i got mad in the start when people were making fun of all written, now i c the bigger picture, nothing, nothing at all can beat happyness, you may not c the cat but a cat never feel real and close to ya, it feels alive and dead at the same time, i just wanna feel alive and not breathe this shitty vortex of knowledge, now it is your turn to bite the sour apple to c the worm and to c where it will take ya, you would give it all away to c the old world again
Tachyon55555 2 years ago
i agree. I am a smart person atleast as i see it. I believe that the only way we can truly live in this world and continue is to look more towards being happy. Because if you are happy you will have less weighing your mind down. But with knowledge comes a price, a price of saddening experiences and depressing facts.
dragonareawsome 2 years ago
For example if you now that the world will end at a certain time then that is all you will concentrate on. But if you do not know that the world will end at that time you are not weighed down by the coming doom and continue happy. Because in the end if we will truly all die then there is nothing that we can do to prevent it. Then why worry about what we cannot change. Just be happy and enjoy what we have left.
dragonareawsome 2 years ago
If your views were expressed by the majority of the world populous, we would certainly be fucked. Science would never move forward, knowledge would be repressed, and intelligence would be looked down upon. There is no forward motion in your plan, just humans sitting in wastefulness waiting to die. That's a sad life for a species in which is capable of so much.

What is Singularity?
Nepalm9 2 years ago
I did a search for "singularity" as in physics and this is what I got. Well, interesting, but likely FALSE. As a kid who used computers when they had just invented "Windows Paint" and as an adult who keeps a nearly constant watch for prices of hardware, the release of "new" stuff and the way those items and their trends have improved [plotting the direction], I call BS. We eventually switch to fiber optic boards [likely change to a 3, then 6 color system to replace the linear binary]...
manictiger 2 years ago
Comment limits suck.
That is something a computer has never been able to do.
manictiger 2 years ago
Computers need a reason, a command line. We don't. A.I. is more theoretical than dark matter and maybe that will change. But as of current, I call bullshit.
manictiger 2 years ago
If you need an example of our "reason":
Flying monkeys dropped bombs on marz because I wanted that letter instead of ess and by the way grape r good an i a n00(3. just cuz and ill typ teh typos cuz i liek random whores.
I could make those examples all day without much thought.
Task: Find the algorithm.
How long did it take you?
The worst part? That's calculating my output. Not creating it for no reason. Enjoy your theories.
manictiger 2 years ago
It's arguable whether we can execute commands for no reason. Your reason for generating that gibberish was to prove that humans are capable of chaotic behavior that can't be explained easily mathematically. This is true. However, its content is not truly random as there are clear patterns in it. No one is arguing that we'll be able to map an entire human brain any time soon; point in fact, you don't need to have a blueprint of a computer to design a new computer.
explosu 2 years ago
You do need to understand the basic principles it relies on; why it can be used for what it's used for is far less complex than its full design. We aren't going to be scanning people into computers any time soon, but we will be growing new brains. Teaching them things in a similar way that we teach dogs and mice, and then later babies and high-schoolers. AI is not theoretical - these ideas are being used now, in real-world applications, with results impressive enough to warrant big money.
explosu 2 years ago
a) Aren't you a little late to be replying to me?
b) I take it you have some basic concept of how computers work right?
c) There are much more important things to do with computers than creating the same thing we can create by fucking the opposite sex without a condom. For example, we should be working on an operating system that never crashes with supposedly compatible software!
manictiger 2 years ago
There are some important differences between a biological mind and one made with software. First, they need never die, and they aren't limited by the same things we are for our survival. They still need electricity, but they can be easily saved and restored if that runs down. Second, they have the advantages that computers have in terms of brute linear processing power. Our brains are very well adapted to parallel processing, which is messy, slow, and imprecise for certain tasks.
explosu 2 years ago
Third, by necessity as much as chance, the brain is a very closed system. With software we can, (and eventually the AI itself can) examine parts of its brain, add large sections experimentally, backup and restore mental states should damage occur, and input large amounts of data directly from the outside world. Fourth, and most importantly, the core software that generates the mind could eventually be understood by the AI and tweaked over generations to become smarter and more efficient.
explosu 2 years ago
I'm glad to see that you not only understood my comment, but you gave me a completely relevant response as well...
manictiger 2 years ago
I respectfully disagree. there is no reason to think that there is some special quality in the mind or brain that is "uncapturable" by models or simulations. That is, or was, the traditional view of dualism in neuroscience, which has now been thoroughly debunked. While we find out more about neurons all the time there is nothing indicating that there is a non-physical (information is important as matter energy see physical information) nature or structure within the brain. That'd be a surprise.
